What are your thoughts of using stumbleupon to get traffic to your website. Is this a good idea or bad?

The bounce rate is about 90% from stumbleupon. I'd consider it a second-tier traffic source. But go get it since it's free.

Stumble upon is definitely worth doing. It has actually given me some pretty good traffic with a surprisingly low bounce rate. Submit your best articles/pages - if people like it they will stumble it and this in turn could make your content go viral. Just make sure you categorise it correctly so that it is reaching the relevant audience and there is no reason why this cannot be used as a great tool for traffic.

StumbleUpon traffic doesn't convert very well, but if you're running a general entertainment website, it's great. StumbleUpon also tends to send a TON of traffic if something does go viral (one of my articles got 100,000 uniques in just two days).

One suggestion: use the NextGen Auto-Poster plugin in WordPress to automatically submit every published post to SU. Saves you a ton of time.
