Using Tumblr, Pinterest, Reddit for traffic?

Hey guys,

I've heard many people say that Tumblr, Pinterest, and Reddit can be used for traffic generation and back links. Are they really a recommendable source for free traffic?

Appreciate your comments!

If you can get traffic, and it's free and ethical, take it.

Tumblr, Pinterest, and Reddit are all excellent traffic sources. You just need to figure out how best to use them and for what.

My Pinterest page gets 25,000 page views a month and growing. I wish I could monetize my Pinterest page! LOL. But, yes, Pinterest is great for backlinks and traffic funneling, just make sure you don't put your backlink on a "repin". Put your backlink on a pin from your own website.

What tool do you use to measure your social media metrics?

    1. Jump on tumblr and do a search for your specific niche, tag or keyword

    2. Open the "note" button on the most appropriate post and begin following those within that list.

The idea here is that you are following targeted people relative to your niche and they will usually follow you back. Around 1 in 10.

If they have rebloged the post where you found them and you post similar content they are likely to reblog or like your post too.

Tumblr allows 200 follows a day so start following 200 targeted people relative to your niche until you reach the maximum of 5000. This will optimise the probability of your posts being liked and reshared.

If you have reached the maximum follow limit for the day and you want to keep going just start liking post relative to your inch, especially those with lower notes as they are starting like your self and will likely follow you.

Also add #followback tags to some posts, just to some. You don't want to appear too needy!

The same strategy can be implemented for pinterest etc.

They're all good, but take work.

I have the most success with Facebook, but post the same Facebook posts to pinterest and tumblr since it only takes an extra minute.

Social media is a long term strategy that costs more in time and/or money up front, but can pay off nicely once you get followers and figure out how to generate traffic from each social channel. Once you have huge followings, it's traffic on demand. You can also sell posts and pins to advertisers once you have enough followers.

For traffic, yes. Backlinks? Not directly.

Start with Pinterest for Business. Don't follow more than 300 per day. I would keep it to 200 to be safe. You will get more followers by posting engaging content, anyway. I wouldn't bother with Tumblr, but that's just me. Twitter is also viable if you know how to build a real following. I'm not crazy about Facebook, but it works if you can grow an active group.

Interact with and follow people who are in the same niche, Use groups in Facebook and twitter finding out what contents people are looking for and make sure that you use this knowledge on for example Tumblr.
By doing so you will get the benefits of being visible (interacting with other people) as well as, when you get visitors you will have contents that generate followers.
