My Pinterest boards and Youtube videos are outranking my websites - losing traffic/sales

I have 5 'how to' blogs with detailed pictures and explanations. I decided to make some videos and Pinterest boards to drive extra traffic, but have instead noticed my traffic and sales fall as these boards and vids climb up the search engine rankings.

I started noticing one of my blog's traffic falling away significantly, and checked it's google position. I was shocked to find that my pinterest board had pinched my hard earned #1 rank. Also, i noticed that sitting just below this blog is my youtube video, which is also pinching traffic and hardly sending anyone to my blog.

Also, one of my blog's images disappeared from Google images altogether, replaced by the same ones from my pinterest board!

I guess i might have to delete them, but then i worry about losing backlinks and possible future gains? It seems like i've simply created new competition for myself and should delete them. The traffic they send is pitiful.

Has anyone had this happen?

Maybe you should try to work on your conversion rates from Pinterest and YouTube to your site before deleting them...
In the end of the day it is good to own 3 out of 3 top ranked pages for any keyword

*lol* This has happened to me too, and it is logical if you think about it.

I am using pinterest to dominate the interest field for my keywords and it has proven to take the lead in google results even above my youtube videos. So now I strengthen my video marketing efforts by inserting the videos in pinterest to widen my domination strategy

You are capturing leads from all this traffic too, right? https://www.betaout.com/blog/how-to-...ith-pinterest/ has some good ideas.

  • This happened to me in early 2013 so I went nuts and built as many boards as I could for search terms that I felt confident would get good Google rank and then I monetized the boards by sprinkling thin affiliate and MFA pages all over them,

Panda 4.1 made it even better.

I currently have an insane amount of number 1 spots in the SERPs for my boards so do like I did and monetize the gold mine that you have found!

  • "I deleted EVERY single image with link to product i has in Pinterest (over 2000), because they were taking first 3 top page search rankings, and putting the original products and images on my own web sites down halfway down the search results page. Since i deleted all the content and waited 3 weeks, i now stand top of search page results, instead of Pinterest, and my traffic and sales have doubled! Pinterest is not only a content thief, it is a traffic thief, and puts your images on the french, italian, swiss, and all other localised versions of Pinterest subdomains."
Direct clicks from google search bring me much higher conversions than the odd click from within Pinterest
