All Marketplace / Warrior Special Offers threads should have a thread in Product Reviews & Ratings

I am not sure how you would go about doing it but I think it's a great idea. For me personally when I read testimonials and reviews within the sales pitch or the sales thread itself they don't come across as being 100% genuine to me.

I am not saying they are paid for or are illegitimate I just know that when people are given free copies of things they are more likely to favourably review said product because after all they have not paid for it. I have been on both ends of this.

It would be much better if I could see an independent thread for said product with independent reviews.

Who would be "reviewing"? If products are not "given" - do you expect members to buy products and let you know which ones are good? Do you think buyers should be "required" to report back to non-buyers? The only system that makes sense when buying WSOs or classified here is common sense.

You can't trust any reviews or testimonials unless you know something about the person who wrote them. After 8 years here - do you need someone else to tell you what to buy?

Note: just my own opinion. Never know what the forum might do these days.

What would be the point when you rarely use the forum
    and never buy anything?

I don't believe a separate section would be any more independent.

When this section was created one of the rules was to not be able to review WSO's in this section for very good reason. (Rules here.).

But if you see this section (like the wso marketplace etc), you'll see vast differences between the rules and what is permitted. Flippant governance.

There is no point having a separate section because who is to say that people who got a free review copy won't post in there also. Besides, the majority of people who got a review copy say they did at the start of their review.

They should just add the rating from verified buyers of a WSO to the WSO thread. Even if the rating isn't shown by default, they could add a drop down menu at the top of the thread which people can click on to display the rating. No rating system can be 100% accurate, but it would at least provide a good indicator of how good a WSO is.

I don't have all the answers. What I do know is that as a consumer I want independent reviews and I want lots of them. As a vendor (I dont sell stuff here anymore) I dont want to chase people for reviews, but I want them to give me reviews because I know it helps me sell.

Maybe a system similar to the app store where as soon as someone makes a purchase they can instantly review and those review ratings are shown in the WSO thread?

      Ahhhhhh
For everyone, including you. And to be honest actually, one of the reasons I stopped visiting so often was this, among others.

The Internet and laws around it have changed a lot and I guess I just feel WF has not caught up to speed. In this example in my country there are laws now that strictly govern online product and service reviews. 1, 2 & 3.

Again like above, when it was created was a long time ago, they need to catch up. ANd maybe a seperate section is not the best idea. Maybe it's something else. All I know is when you have a modern day market place online (eBay, Etsy, Appstore, Amazon...) reviews are a huge part of that. High quality, high volume and as independent from the vendor as possible.

Adding the rating from verified buyers is the way to go I'm starting to think. Similar to App store. Show the ratings in the marketplace thread. Simple.
