Allow WSO creators to temporarily disable comments in case of harassment

Hi,

I would really like to see the option to at least temporarily disable comments on WSO threads when a WSO creator is dealing with harassment.

I gave a detailed account of my situation here (http://www.warriorforum.com/warrior-...##post10767331). The short story: Customer didn't get a refund. Is now mad as hell and posting negative review after negative review. His accounts eventually get banned but he just creates a new one and starts the whole process again.

The fact that a single person can attempt to kill a sales thread is rather disheartening. Allowing WSO creators to protect what is basically their investment by temporarily disabling comments in such cases would protect that investment.

Thoughts?

Cheers,

Nick

    Couldn't agree more.

Except it's more than disheartening. It's disgusting.

This is why sellers leave and never come back.

Any means to offer equal protection for sellers and buyers is welcome.

About two years ago I suggested turning the WSO section into a purely "classified ad" section - with NO comments allowed.

The number of people trolling for "reviews" is ridiculous. They used to be banned but not any more. The people posting nonsense and negatives over and over and demanding proof...if through the roof.

It shows clearly in the greatly reduced numbers of new WSOs recently. I would fully support not just the ability to turn off comments....but totally removing comments from THAT section.

You pay to post an ad - you should not have to deal with trolls but that's happening now. Sellers could provide a contact email that would allow people to ask questions - without allowing the trolls to get attention.

While I do not think the WSO creator should have this ability. I do believe that there should be some mods dedicated to the WSO section and a seller should be able to contact them directly and have any reviews or comments reviewed for deletion.

If the WSO seller had the ability to delete from the thread then all WSO's would be great and wonderful

I would also like to see all the posts that say "Sent you a PM" and "responded to your PM" deleted as well as the posts for tech support.

Mate first up what an arse this person is and sorry for the crap you are going through

I had an idea that may work

Only War Room members an post on WSO threads good or bad reviews and have a support email for those that don't

For one thing I don't think a WR member will want to loose the account ! maybe something to think about

I don't think that (seller editing of comments) would be fair - any WSO seller would delete any negative comments or even questions with a negative tone.

It would be best if WF mods were on it - but they aren't.

A few days ago I was looking through the WSO section and was shocked by the number of 'members' here who seem to post only simplistic questions in multiple WSO's - demand proof in multiple WSO's - or consistently ask for "review copies" when NO reviews were offered.

IN the past all of those people would be permanently banned - but not now. They just move on to a new WSO and pull the same tricks.

If there were no comments allowed - people would have to make their own buying decision and buy at their own risk....totally new concept?

    Hi,

We appreciate the suggestion guys albeit, this feature is something that will ultimately void the transparency of providing honest reviews by the buyer. We don't want to create an environment where the seller can filter his thread

We apologize if we can't weed out majority of the unqualified reviews or comments on WSOs hence, the reason why the Report button is there for you guys to use. Our moderating team always looks out for those reports and you can be assured that we're doing our very best in resolving those issues.

Again, thanks for the suggestions. As usual, you can also reach out through our Help Desk for these matters.

    Thanks!

How often have you seen an honest review by a disgruntled customer?

You are saying you have no control over the CLASSIFIED ADVERTISING section people pay to advertise in?

Why do you hire moderators if you can't weed out the "majority" of the bad posts in the WSO section? I don't mean to sound rude - but that explanation leaves a lot to be desired.

Reporting doesn't help now - the trolls are not banned - the comments reported are often still 'live' hours later.

Nick - you got your answer. Are the sales worth the hassle?

      Hi Kay

Thanks for your input. Just so we are clear, we are indeed taking a look at those reviews/comments. We can't disclose what actions we are doing against or for those specific users but these need to be carefully investigated before we issue bans left and right and which at some point may take some time. Again, we are dealing with 2 sides here, one from the buyer and and the other from the seller. We want to make sure that all bases are covered before we move into taking action.

Again, we appreciate the kind feedback guys. We'll strongly keep this in mind moving forward.

Let's keep the discussion here as civil as possible. OT responses will be removed.

      Thanks.

By the way, thanks for the help as the user in question has -- at least for now -- stopped posting. I'm now dealing with some off-WF harassment, but that's something I can deal with on my own.

Just to be clear, my suggestion was not to allow WSO creators to permanently disable comments (although that was actually one of Allan's suggestions last year), but to allow WSO creators to temporarily do so, either on their own or by sending a request to moderation.

In cases of harassment (and it's the first time it's happened to me in my two years selling here, thank God), sending reports and waiting for them to get reviewed is not particularly effective and is extremely time-consuming both for the member and, without a doubt, for the moderation team as well.

Anyhoo, once again, thanks for the help

        Nick

Just because a customer may be disgruntled does not mean he or she can not leave an honest review. Cripes.

Would like to see an option to ban comments from non buyers if they are hijacking the thread and asking stupid questions / making false claims etc... Like an ignore function that can be applied to the thread and not just individual.

I am all for asking questions but you get some guys just posting to increase their post count and making stupid claims when they have not even bought the product.

Stupid claims aside, posts to the WSO section do not add to the public tally that is displayed beneath your avatar.

      Cheers

fair point, even more bizarre then that these folk post nonsense ! Negative comments with no facts or evidence can harm a WSO and I would like to see a function where you can ban a poster after 1 or 2 posts if they are not a verified buyer, hard to manage that I know its tricky.
