Is it common practice for members to give out or sell your email?

I've purchased a few services over the past 7 days and now I'm getting spammed buy guru emails..... pretty annoying. I am a not trying to be a marketer. I was looking for marketing and copywriter services.

    Unfortunately, it is too common.

What I do to try and avoid being spammed to death while still being able to receive what I want or need such as product updates is that I use a "tagged" email address for every place I sign up.

So if I was signing up for the Warrior Forum itself and I didn't know or trust them yet, I would use some sort of email that would indicate that I signed up here. If then I start getting spammed, I know they did it and it's easier to just block that one email address.

Maybe I would use WF0218@mydomain if I signed up this month. I can do this through my web host's catchall email account. But then I'll never use that email address elsewhere.

However, if I bought a service or product from a vendor selling on the forum, I would use another way to identify them. For example, JimJonesWF021218@mydomain. This may mean something like user Jim Jones who I bought something from on the forum on 2/12/18.

The key is a unique email address used once at every place I sign up for anything.

Now, having said that, if the spam is coming because of a purchase through the forum and you can prove it, you may consider opening a support ticket and letting the forum management know. But if you aren't using a tagged email address, you really can't prove where the spam is coming from.

    Mark

      Tell me about it!

      *sigh*

Is this one method that solo ad sellers use to obtain email addresses?
