Success Stories Forum

I'd like to see a forum specifically for success stories. Not to brag but to share and inspire. Making money using the internet can be very rewarding but also very frustrating so I think it would be a great to have a section for people to share their success stories to inspire others and to show that it is possible to break through the elastic wall and actually make money.

Excellent idea. Maybe sig links shouldnt show up in that area if possible.

Good idea, make it a promotion free, no brand, no names, just the facts Ma'am forum.

People already try this on the main forum and it usually is manipulative and subtly promotional way to get people to pm them, or they release a wso soon after.

The main forum is not the place for success stories as people are generally shot down in flames for sharing by people who always carry loaded guns in there plus it's heavily promotional. That's why I'm suggesting a specific ad-free forum where people can feel proud and share their accomplishments.

Success stories, case studies, etc... are usually a pre-sell tactic.

    Example:
Look at me I finally made $17,498.37 this week, here's a link to what I used.

...which is why I suggested a link and sig free zone. Extreme cynicism aside (and as you well know) some people in this world actually want to and enjoy encouraging others and sharing their (or someone else's) success story is a way that some (honourable) people like to do that. I know that this place is a world unto it's own and it has a disproportionate level of scoundrels and con artists but out in the real world people have been known to want to encourage others without an ulterior motive. I've seen it many times and the mindset forum is full of such people. In every other community online there is a place for success stories except here. I still think we could do with one.

It may need monitoring (I'd volunteer if no one else wanted to) but I'm personally hearing a lot of despair out there among people who are not making any (or very little) money and obviously people are making money so it would be nice to have a place without promotion where people can let others know that trying to make money online is not a complete and utter waste of time and effort.

        Mr Bill,

Could the off-topic forum be used for this? I like your idea. I'm one of those people who are highly encouraged by reading success stories. They make me think that maybe I really CAN do this.

Maybe the initial post could have a strong "suggestion/reminder/ADMONITION/We Will Hunt You Down" sorta warning regarding sig links etc. and a pasting of the WF rules regarding spam, self promotion, and so on.

Perhaps mention that we'd like to keep all success stories confined to that particular thread to facilitate continuity. You might also PM admin for their feelings about this subject before starting the thread.

I think the thread would be very popular, and that newbies would welcome it. One potential problem might be that the thread would be filled with pleas for specific how-tos. I believe that it would become a warm place of encouragement and excitement. LOL!!! The thought just occured to me that you'd have a bunch of people going around asking, "Are you my Mommie?" LOL! Oh, man! I need for my coffee to kick in- like, Right Now. *smile*

WF isn't going to go for something that requires a lot of customization/extra programming. It isn't so easy to just configure a forum like that out of the box. So while it sounds good, in theory, this may not be as practical as you may think.

Yeah, pretty sure it won't work on this forum so I'm going to start one of my own with a few other guys. Doing it on here will just run too high a risk of becoming a massive mess as previously pointed out. There's just too much negativity and skepticism around here - sorry to say.

I'd agree if it was any harder than deselecting one check box (a one second action) to disallow signatures and assigning a moderator to remove links.

True, that was the idea but I think this is a place of work and has no place for such frivolity and nonsense as real success stories. That's cool. It's Allan's site and he's got every right to mold it as he pleases. But if he doesn't know what we want he can't implement it. This is a suggestion forum and it was just a suggestion.

Who says it's a mess? Success stories are great to read. It 's not a waste of time for at the bottom line, you could gain bunch of learning. From different perspectives, people behind their stories can inspire thousands of people out there.

Great Idea. Success stories inspire people. BTW there should be a forum for Failure Stories as well.
We will learn what NOT to do. Failure stories should have links in them to prevent other warriors from wasting there money.
