If you've requested and got a review copy, deliver your review as promised or get punished!

I see this too often. A user request a review copy of something, gets his review copy, and I never hear anything back from him again. In my eyes, this is theft.

We should have a rule that says if you don't deliver your review, you'll get punished with a short ban from this forum.

By the way, on average, I only receive a review from 20-30% of the users who has got a review copy...

I guess it is sometimes because people forget to make the review, although I would say if the product creator reminds you, that you still haven't posted a review, and the wso thread might have gone live or whatever. Then yeah I agree if I ask for a review copy I always say to the product creator if he specify he also wants a post in the wso thread itself when it goes live. That in case I miss it or something he should PM me, I might have forgotten to post a review once or twice, most probably have. Never been my intention to not post reviews for products I get review copies off.

You may need to put in a special note that if a review is posted, the person would be at the top of your list for a review copy of your next product.

You may also want to go back, and touch base with the ones that did do a review, and be sure to send them a copy of your next product.

This rule will be too hard carry out and too much work for moderator, you can try to give out review copies to those who are more establish members and not to members who have few posts.

        Jimmy,
        They aren't any better.
No, they really aren't. But they're less likely to pirate your stuff before you even start selling it.

Not only would a rule like this be impossible to enforce, any attempt to do so would almost certainly backfire. People who felt pressured to post reviews would be very likely to interpret the pressure in a negative way and slam you beyond what a rational response would call for.

If you're fishing for testimonials, sell the thing and collect them from paying customers. If you really want reviews, as in "how can this be better," ask people whose opinions you respect. And ask them privately. Then take their advice.

More experienced because you have more posts and because you've been a member for a longer period of time? No, I know several Internet Marketing dudes who has been marketing online for years who aren't members on this forum at all. There are also members here who has been members for years and years, which are still trying to make their first dollar online.

I was given a review copy a while back (*not* by the OP here)
and I never posted a review because I couldn't think of anything
    nice to say.

It would be very frustrating if I logged in one day and found that
I had some kind of "punishment" because I had chosen not to
    hurt someone's business?

Well, that's something the product creator should have thought about BEFORE he started to hand out review copies.

There's an easy way around that dilemma: Send it to them privately.

You never know. Legitimate criticism, phrased in a helpful way, could be the difference between someone focusing on putting out a quality product that generates repeat customers and a good reputation or them getting slammed and discouraged later by bad reviews (and refunds) from people who have the same objections you did.

This is my own past experiences, I limit the number of reviews given out and wait for reviews, if anyone didn't provide his/her review, I will PM back and ask for the review, most will reply with the reviews, but there will always one or two who didn't provide the review, which I can't do anything about it and I got to move on. Hope that helps.
