...such as bit.ly. There is no reason for it. In some cases it can be dangerous on a forum like this where anyone can post a link to anything they choose.

I agree with you Mike. It can also be used to hide affiliate links.

They are just useless and used for marking the original link. They are a more nuisance than clicking on them.
