WSOs

I just went to the WSO forum looking to post a WSO. I clicked "Create A WSO." And there I was in some very unfamiliar territory. Why has everything here become so hard? I can no longer easily find threads I've posted in. There is no longer a page listing all the active ads where people have purchased banners. And now there's no way to start a WSO.

I'm not interested in adding files or using affiliates. I simply want to post an offer. I guess there's some secret link floating around that allows you to post an old fashioned WSO but I don't have the time to try and hunt it down.

My suggestion is to allow users a choice between the old way of posting a WSO and the new way, which I don't understand. My suggestion is to allow users to easily see posts where's they've participated. My suggestion is to return to having a page where one can see all the present banner ads.

If Freelancer is looking to increase revenues they are sure going about it in a strange way by making it difficult participate in the forum and in our ability to buy advertising space.

  • I think this is the secret link you are looking for: http://www.warriorforum.com/newthrea...newthread&f=17

    ETA: link fixed

    • Thanks. That link isn't intact. Even if it were, why is this hide and seek? There are MANY people that NEVER use affiliates. What are they supposed to do?

Thanks Don. I guess that one slipped by me.

  • Everything new is unfamiliar at first. Give it a try. Submit the form and you'd see that the second screen is just a box to write your post. You just have to choose some options first now. You don't have to actually post a WSO to see how it works.

"Subscribed Threads" is the list of threads you've posted to (unless you changed your options to not automatically subscribe). It's found under "User CP" and "Quick Links" at the top menu. That's what it's been called and where it's been located since 2001 or so, here and on every other vBulletin forum.

You don't need a secret link, just click the big red button and fill out the half-page form.

They should not maintain two separate systems to achieve the same goal. It's confusing and unnecessary.

    They do.

The link to see all the present banner ads is called "View All" and is directly under the banner. That's where it's always been, hasn't it?

They've made everything easier to do and faster. Everything's automatic, like buying things on any other store on the internet. You just find the big red buy/post button, choose options, pay if necessary, and you're done.

The old way required arcane knowledge of this particular forum software, identifying and locating several sets of separate instructions for how to post a WSO or buy an ad, what the requirements are, and how to pay for it. You then had to make posts or upload banners, wait for mystery moderators to approve them, and sit at the computer for hours waiting for a PM'd link to pay before your slot disappeared because someone else bought it before you.

    • Yeah, the new streamlined system is brilliant. That's why there are a half dozen or more posts on the main forum every week asking how to post a WSO. Maybe the new way is better. So why don't they post a few simple lines of instruction? I can guarantee the confusion with the unfamiliar interface is costing them sales.

As for subscribing to a thread, are you serious? I know how to subscribe, thanks. I don't need or want an email every time someone posts to a thread I've participated in. The old icons worked just fine as all I had to do is glance at any forum and could tell where I'd posted.

The "View All" banners link was down for quite a while. I simply assumed it still was.

I'm not adverse to change. Chaotic change simply for the sake of change is another matter.

It's secret because they want to force people to use Warrior Payments, whether they want to or not. Simple as that. But this still works.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • Oh, neither do I. The forum doesn't require you get any e-mails or manually subscribe to threads.

    • Yeah, that's SOOOO much simpler than the way it was.
