Hiring Additional Tech Person

My client is a very small Internet Business. Among other things they offer software (Word Press and desktop apps) mainly for Market Research and Traffic Optimization.

To expand their business, they are looking for a friendly, smart and dedicated technical person to help them with development and technical support.


Essential Qualifications:

- Technical background or strong technical understanding

- Native English or comparable English skills

- You're polite and friendly. Our client doesn't put up with rude customers, but they expect their support staff to always be polite and professional.

- Very good communication skills. Customer background varies as does their grasp of the English language. This means that sometimes you will have to figure out what they want, and explain things in terms the customer can understand, so you will need very good communication skills.

- You're available for a minimum of 5 to a maximum of 15 hours per week

- You have the ability to work a certain amount of time each day Mon to Fri (tickets need to be answered daily), and are willing and able to stay in touch with our client daily

- You're reliable. If you can't be around for whatever reason, you let us know as soon as you can so that we can plan. If you can't handle all the work you are given, you let us know asap so that we can assign it to somebody else. Our client needs to be able to trust you to handle tickets with the goal to make the customers go "wow" about their business.

- You got a brain and are willing to use it. ;-) Seriously, though, common sense, pro-activeness and active thinking are required. If you just want an easy job where you follow detailed instructions, please don't apply!

- Ability to communicate with us in our time zone (we're on UK/European time)

- Willing to work with us on a long-term basis. Nothing's for sure in life, but you should at least have the general plan to stick with us for a while.

Desirable Qualifications:

- Experience with Word Press themes/plugins, PHP, .NET applications, and/or Adobe Air

- Customer support experience

- Enough programming skills to fix a few quick lines or check the quality of a programmer's work

- A basic understanding of internet marketing (e.g. SEO, backlinking, niche blogs) helps to understand customer questions, and to phrase things to them

Your Potential Tasks:

Your main tasks will be:

- Technical support (e.g. explain how to use software; find out exactly what is wrong and investigate or write this down in a clear way so that programmer can fix it)

- Write software specifications for new software and for updates to existing software (PHP Word Press themes/plugins, .NET apps, Adobe Air apps)

- Test software and give clear feedback to programmer

- Depending on your skills and background, and on how things develop when you work for us, you may acquire more responsibility over time

- Your potential tasks may vary from week to week. We have phases when we develop a lot of new stuff, but also launch weeks when customer support will take up most of your time.

- Since we're a small team, we might also ask you to help out with other tasks occasionally

Work Environment:

- We're a small team of mostly part-time staff, located in different countries

- You will work from the luxury of your own home

- Regular communication with us via Skype (text and voice) and email

- Flexibility (we know life happens sometimes, and as long as you communicate that clearly, we will do our best to be flexible. On the other hand, we expect you to do your best to be flexible when we have peak times e.g. during a product launch)

- You'll be paid via a weekly Paypal mass payment. We will need an invoice (e.g. as PDF file) from you to process the payment.

Hi, I got a lot of technical knowledge and am interested. I have been in the SEO/Internet Marketing as well as the web development industry for 7 years.
