A question has come up which ask if mobile phone uses are actually reading the emails they open from advertisers. A fairly recent report was made on what mobile uses prefer and this report was by Movable Ink. This report showed that most mobile users will open the emails that come in, but often do not take the time to read them carefully before moving on to something else. This report went on to give more details of what they found.

It was found that 2/3rds of emails to U.S. recipients were opened on mobile devices with the majority of them being on smart phones which accounted for almost 50%, and of the remanding 16% were with tablets. Surprisingly the more detailed breakdown showed that 42% were iPhones while only 6% were android and the remainder were iPads. This report went on to show that a user was more likely to open an email from a desktop during the work week, but more likely to open it on their mobile device on the weekend. It is not difficult to make the assertion that those at work are accessing their email while at work during the week. But this brings about the need for anyone marketing to these individuals to do so with how they access their emails and when. The report went on to show that smart phones were used more in the mornings and tablet devices were most often used in the evenings.

While users of iPhones and iPads are more likely to open their emails, they generally spend less time looking at them once opened, then those using other devices to view their email. More than 40% of iPhone and iPad users viewed their email for 3 seconds or less. Only around 25% read their email for more than 15 seconds. It was a little better for smartphones which showed that 36% of these users viewed their email for more than 15 seconds.

Windows based phones and Androids showed a better rate of retention. Almost 45% of those that opened their email looked at it for fifteen seconds or more. Of all the users, those with iPad devices were the most likely to close their email and move on to something else rather than read their email longer. But Kindle fire users were opposite and read their emails for more than fifteen seconds at a rate of almost 60%. This report clearly indicates that using old methods of email do not work. What is needed are ways that will instantly grab the viewers attention and lead them into being more engaged with the email than most currently are. If marketers want to succeed with mobile device users, they will need to use strategies that grab the attention of the user and keep them looking at the promotional material longer.

Videos Need To Understand Cause Marketing

If you want to do videos right, there are four aspects you need to correctly understand and implement if you want to get more from your marketing. Most marketers do not understand these and consequently get poorer results than they otherwise would.
