    How to make money as an Amazon affiliate – Does it have to be so difficult? Hey Warriors, I decided to start this thread for all of you that want to make money as an Amazon affiliate but can’t seem to get started. Maybe you are still in the “question” phase as I call it. What really works? How many sites do I have to build? How to pick products? Etc… The list will go on and on but the point is that this question phase will hold you back, make you feel unsure of yourself and basically end with a headache! After that you have the next “phase” – some success but not enough! This is when you ARE making some money with Amazon but it is not enough. Then of course you get a different set of questions: How can I make more with Amazon? Is this really worth it? Can you make a living with Amazon as an affiliate? So if you are in these two groups this thread is for you. I will give you some pointers on how to build profitable Amazon sites and even give you a walkthrough. You can also grab your FREE 7 day Amazon affiliate course for more in depth info. So let’s begin… 3 Things You Need To Make Money With Amazon… Let us start at the beginning. If you want to make money with Amazon as an affiliate you will need 3 things:
In fact if you are NOT making money with Amazon you can normally take a look at one of these areas and see that you will be lacking somewhere. You need to really take time with these 3 points and in particular the product selection and the keyphrases. We will explore these sections more in depth in a later post but basically with the product you need to pick something that is RED HOT. A good example of this would be 4K TV’s or Xbox One – these products are just coming to the forefront and they are RED HOT. You need to pick something with a buzz that is just about to blow up. If you get a product at the right time you will be able to rank easier as there will be far less competition and because the product is HOT you will get sales. Whether you get sales or not when you are ranked is all down to how you angle your site. You need to offer something a bit different! Instead of just: “This is a review of xyz” you need to think about positioning yourself in the market as the ULTIMATE resource for reviews. You can do this by offering something different from all of the other Amazon affiliate review sites out there. Maybe you will find better deals, maybe you have an email list that will send out deals, maybe you will tell the customer the pros AND the cons of the product, maybe you have a YouTube channel that will answer all the questions about the product. You also need to offer ample opportunity for the customers to click through to the product so you will need to know a little bit about selling and copywriting. We will cover this at a later date. The final piece to the puzzle is of course traffic and I will give you a guide to this as well. It is not that difficult and you CAN make money very quickly but you need to follow a system and be prepared to work.  Hope you enjoy it - here is the next part of the puzzle: This post will give you an overview of how to pick a product on Amazon and make sure that you have the best chance of it being a winner. As mentioned above the 3 parts of a successful Amazon site are the product, the keywords and traffic. Everyone will have a different way of picking Amazon products but my way is to focus on a niche and then write the content as a series of reviews around those products. I have found this works for 2 reasons: SEO: Because you are focusing on products and the names of the products you will be able to get ranked far easier in most cases. Traffic: It means that when you DO get ranked you have really targeted traffic. Another thing it will help you with is working out which products are selling and whether it is worth continuing to build the site up. If you are getting a lot of sales what you can do is start using more general terms for the website so you already have traffic from the main products and then with the more general terms you will get ranked and get more people to the site. When you are actually picking products try and go for products that have a lot of recent reviews. You can see this by going down to the review section and seeing when the last reviews were written. If you see a lot of “Left 2 hours ago”, “Left 4 hours ago” etc... you know the product is selling as not many people will head back to leave a review straight away. Keep your eyes open for upcoming products - one that springs to mind is the “Xbox One” - a product that when it is released millions of people will buy. Another way to pick a product is to narrow right down into a section and sort the list by “Most Popular” - like the link below: Amazon.com: Radar Detectors: Electronics Then you have a good idea that the products are selling - check the amount of reviews and what they are like and the frequency of them. Head over to Google Adwords keyword tool and make sure the product is getting more than 2000 searches a month. The amount of searches is not as important as the frequency of the reviews. Then you can pick 4-5 products and start writing your reviews. I will have more on that and how to do it properly in another post. How To Make Money With Amazon – Writing Content In this post I will tell you how I write the content for the products I promote on Amazon. As a rule I have a site that is centered around a certain niche with some of the top products from the niche. You can see in the thread above “How to pick converting products with Amazon.” Assuming you have picked a product I tend to write the content like so: Title: Name of the product Introduction: This will tell people about the product and also include a link going through to Amazon through my affiliate link. I will also tell them WHY they need to take the time to read through the review and what they will learn. Try and think about what your site gives them that no-one else does. Features: I will then include a bullet list of the features and normally you can just copy this from Amazon. Features Explained: This is where you take each of the features that you have mentioned and explain about each one. Remember you have already mentioned the features in a list, so you want to make sure that you speak about benefits in this section. Verdict: I will then give my verdict on the product and I do this by looking at the customer feedback on Amazon and giving both the pros and the cons of the product so the consumer can make a better choice. Call To Action: A strong call to action at the bottom of your review with any discounts, special offers etc… The better your content above and the STRONGER your call to action the more sales you will get. Here is the next part of the puzzle: How To Rank Your Amazon Site Fast Ever since the Panda and Penguin updates there have been a lot of people getting a mixed bag with SEO positions. This post will tell you how I rank my Amazon affiliate sites and also ANY website. There is the argument that you should not rely on SEO and I agree with that HOWEVER if you DO get good positions and you are willing to put the time in, in my opinion there is nothing better than getting a decent position on Google for a juicy keyphrase. As we mentioned in an earlier post make sure you start off promoting under product names. The reason I suggest this is because they are far easier to rank for and then when you see your site start to take off you can start adding more general phrases in there and because the site is built up you will have more chance of ranking anyway. The KEY Contributing Factor To Ranking High: Bear in mind this is from my own results. No gimmicks or short cuts: QUALITY, UNIQUE CONTENT! Obviously you need to know how to write a decent product review and you can see a previous post in this thread that shows you how to do that but as long as you are a half decent writer you can do it. You need to keep on adding content to your site which are reviews of the product that are between 700-1000 words long. The Problem? Most people will not keep up the process for over 7 days; some people will give up after they have written their first post. If you ARE committed you WILL see success with your rankings and in another thread I will talk about how to improve your chance of ranking. How To Rank On The First Page Of Google With Your Amazon Site There is NO way to guarantee rankings on Google. As you probably know it has got a bit more difficult to set up a simple blog and rank well on the search engines; however it can still be done. The main thing to focus on is making sure that when you write the content it is quality and that because we are promoting the product names you can link through to other pages on your site for general keyphrases. For instance – I will normally have the product names as the title of each page and structure the site as a review site so will place my reviews in an order. Then I have found that if every page on your site links back to the first for relevant general and product names it ranks really well. A lot of the SEO will come down to the theme you use and how well you set up the structure. As a rule I use pages for my wordpress blog and have found that works really well for me. Also make sure you add a page with relevant links that go through to the wikis of the products you are promoting or the main site and if you can make a Youtube video to add to each page of your site for the products you will find that works well. Then the key is using social media and making sure you get your site out there as much as possible. Google + works really well as I believe Google is going more instant. Meaning if you can focus on getting your new content to people instantly you will have far greater success. Think Twitter, Facebook and Google + as well as YouTube and stay committed to updating your site daily and you will make money. When I was creating Amazon Kickstart V2 I set up a test site to show how the process works: The site was a review site for “boat sets”: It is ranking on the first page of Google and getting a fair amount of traffic and a few sales as well  REMEMBER: If you are following this method we are not that bothered about getting ranked for super competitive phrases. At least not to begin with. We ARE interested in getting ranked FAST, seeing if a product sells and THEN expanding on the site with more general phrases. Amazon Affiliate Sites - 3 Keys To A Profitable Amazon Affiliate Site To make money with Amazon as an affiliate you really need only 3 things. The problem is that getting these 3 things right can be a little bit tricky until you have the process perfected and even then it can be a bit of trial and error. The 3 attributes of a profitable Amazon affiliate site are:
First up: The Product: This needs to be RED HOT! Or at least it needs to sell! Now, people have different ways of making money with Amazon, picking products, using plugins, auto content plugins etc… However the EASIEST way to make sure you get sales is to check that the product you are selling or promoting on the site is RED HOT. You can see some product picking strategies in this thread and you can also check out Amazon Kickstart V2 that will give you a step by step method of picking products…. Quality Content: You need quality content. In fact, and again I am not saying there is NO other way but what always works for me is: Quality, Regularly updated content - if you make sure your site is updated with unique content that serves a purpose and you KEEP on adding to the site you will get ranked. You can also see an example of this in the thread where you can see the best boat sets site ranking. The site is actually relatively thin on content BUT the content is unique and the reviews are well written. Of course you can speed up your efforts by using social media and Google+, blog commenting etc… as long as you are not spamming and again the content is good this will help BUT the KEY is making sure your actual site has some ‘meat’ on it so to speak. If you stay committed to update your site daily you wait and see the results you are getting after a month. Want faster results? Write 5 pages of content a day and see the results you are getting after a week! Targeted Traffic: If you have been following this thread then you will know that this part will sort itself out. If you get ranked following this method you will be ranked for product names and that is what people will be looking for information on. Once you have some rankings you can start broadening out with some general terms to increase your traffic and sales. I have a question though about your product picking method. When you typed the product/product # into the Adwords tool there was no data such as no searches. So that means to me that people aren't searching in Google for the product name/product # exactly. If that's the case why do you suggest to still optimize for the product name/product #? My other question is in quotes the product you entered into google was I think 595,000. I've read some info somewhere in the forums that you want less 50,000-60,000. What's is the measure you're using for product name in google in quotes? | |

Thanks for your questions and welcome to the forum. I think I covered this in the video. Even though there is no data in Google for the EXACT product name keyphrase we can see on Amazon that it is selling VERY well. There will be a large percentage of people that type the product name into Google BEFORE they buy and then if you have a site that is ranking your job is to send them to Amazon through your affiliate link. You will see in the course that competition is not a problem as if you keep on adding regular, updated content to the site you will get ranked on not JUST the product name but also many other phrases as well. All the product name in quotes shows is roughly how many sites you are competing with when you are trying to get ranked. Hope this helps and let me know if you need anything else? Yes, a percentage will but as I go through in the video if you add content to your site for the watch WITH the brand name and also for the watch without the brand name and then make sure you keep on adding relevant content you will get ranked. In short, yes there are people searching for full product names and then buying from review sites as long as you are ranked. | |
