A study was conducted in Denmark and was published in the Scandinavian Journal of Public Health earlier this year. It focused on 60 overweight men where 30 took on an hour’s worth of intensive exercise each day and the others only took on 30 minutes of vigorous exercise. The whole research study lasted for 3 months and the results were very interesting for those who have been spending an hour or more at the gym every day in the hope that the more exercise they do then the more weight will be lost.

Over 3 months the men who worked out for an hour every day lost 6 lbs on average whereas the men who only took on half an hour of vigorous exercise lost over 7.5 lbs on average. Indeed, the 30 men who worked out for half an hour also said that they felt much more energetic and active due to the reduced work out time whereas those who spent 60 minutes in the gym tended to feel more run down.

Going back to water, there was a research study conducted and published in 2010 that showed interesting results in regards to the link between water intake and losing weight. The study involved 48 overweight adults who were aged 55 to 75 and they were split up into two groups. The first group ate a low calorie diet for 12 weeks but did not drink water before their meals whereas the second group did (they drank 500ml of water before each meal). After 3 months the results concluded that the second group lost around 2 kg more on average than the first due to this water intake. The basis for this was the fact that the people in the second group said they felt fuller when eating so actually ate less during their meals than those in the first group.
