Pay Per Click (PPC) - Stay Away From Pay Per Click (PPC)?

Today I want to give you an introduction on pay-per-click advertising or for short, PPC advertising. There are a lot of people out there that aren't too sure or are familiar with different kinds of advertising that you can do on the internet and paid search is one of them. I'm going to be talking about how to structure a proper PPC campaign and key elements you need to be familiar with in order to monetize off your ads.

There are three major players in terms of PPC advertising:
  • Google
  • Yahoo
  • Bing
Each of these search engines has their own platform to run PPC campaigns from. With Google you've got Google AdWords, which is by far the most dominant platform and search engine used for paid advertisers. Yahoo and Bing recently merged together, so all of the search results you see on Bing and Yahoo are driven by the Bing results. You've got 2 sets of results that are exactly the same on 2 different search engines.

Now I want to talk to you how a PPC campaign should typically be structured. I've seen so many PPC campaigns that don't perform well because they aren't structured properly. First you have your account with Google, Yahoo or Bing and with that you are able to create PPC campaigns. Within your PPC campaigns you have ad groups. You should note that within a campaign you should expect to see multiple ad groups, all containing different keywords. What you want to do is link up closely related keywords and put them together in an ad group. Within an ad group you've got your ad text, which should closely match the keywords that you've got within that ad group.

Negative keywords are important to take into account with PPC ads and I can't tell you how much they're missed on so many occasions by lots of different campaigns. Negative keywords are keywords that counteract anything you don't want your ads to show for. Let's say you want to run a PPC ad to sell chocolate. You'll want to put the word “free” as a negative keyword in your PPC campaign. This will stop your ad from appearing in search results with people searching for anything with the word “free” in it.

The next thing you want to look and pay attention to when you make an account is your budget that you want to set for each PPC ad. The budget is set at a campaign level – how much you can afford to pay on a daily basis. Following that, you want to set your ad word bids. These are called maximum CPCs, which tell the search engines what you're willing to pay-per-click. Don't over-inflate these and don't put a really low CPC because your ads won't be shown.

The final thing I want to go through is the importance of measuring the success of your PPC campaign. AdWords, Yahoo and Bing all have similar functionalities and they all measure the same elements of a PPC campaign.

These elements are:
  • Clicks – How much traffic you're driving on each of your ads and keywords
  • Impressions – How many times your PPC ad is displayed in the search results
  • Click through rate (CTR) – Clicks divided by impressions. Anything above 5% is deemed to be a good CTR
  • Spend – You don't want to be spending over and above. You want to make sure your PPC campaigns are converting and generating a healthy ROI or else there's no point in even running them.
  • Conversions – All platforms allow you to put a code on your conversion page, so you can see which keywords are generating conversions for you
  • Conversion Rate – How many clicks is it taking you to make a lead or a purchase - conversions divided by number of clicks.
Now you have a basic understanding of what PPC advertising is, how PPC campaigns are structured and what basic elements you need to know to monetize off your campaigns. If you haven't already, sign up with Google AdWords, Yahoo or Bing and create your first PPC campaign!

A lot of people that are new to online marketing look for ways to get traffic. There are obviously free ways to generate traffic. For example you can get people to your website through SEO, but free methods aren't always the best nor the most effective way to do so. Today I'm going to be talking about the most cost-effective method of paid advertising – Pay-per-click.

Pay-per-click aka PPC is a modern method to drive targeted traffic to a website. The most commonly utilized PPC advertising platforms are Google and Bing. These paid ads appear in the search engines, alongside other non-paid search results. Since PPC ads are sold at auction, your individual bid determines how high your ads appear on the page. The cost-per-click (CPC) will vary greatly depending on your industry. Anytime a potential customer clicks on your PPC ad they're sent to your website and arrive at a landing page. This page should be relevant to what your visitors are interested in and should help convert those visitors into a lead or sale.

One of the many great advantages of PPC, when done correctly is that you're able to generate new customers almost immediately. You also have complete control over the dates and times your PPC advertisements are displayed. With PPC ads, you can track the effectiveness of your ads in detail. You can see which keywords and ad groups are performing well and generating you a good ROI. Another positive advantage to running PPC campaigns is that it costs a fraction of what you pay with other forms of paid advertising and since your marketing budget is delivered to a highly targeted group, your ROI is much higher as well. The goal of PPC campaigns is to attract better qualified visitors to your website, who are more likely to buy.

Through the use of keyword phrases PPC campaigns limit the visibility of your ads to only those customers in your target market who are searching for your products or services. Working with an experience internet marketing firm to build your next PPC campaign can maximize your ROI and start your marketing budget further. When using the right combination of complex Google AdWords configuration, keyword strategy, advertising copy and website design, a PPC advertising campaign can be an extremely powerful and cost-effective way to increase your profit.

I agree that Pay Per Click Advertising is the way to go. If you have some initial capital to spend on ads, you can easily take that money and double or triple it if you follow the proper procedure. That is why I have started a new site www.ppc.ca

I am hoping to help people optimize their PPC campaigns and get the most out of their spend.

Foolery. Someone can put up a video claiming someone or something is a scam without knowing all the facts and that makes their statement the truth? He's been arrested? Do you know the background of every person you've done business with online? Since he's been arrested and served time in jail that makes him a scam artist? Really? People in glass houses are always the first to throw stones. Too many saints online with bones in their closets. Remember: there are always three sides to every story. His side, their side and the truth. Here is Vick's side:

I would have to agree - although I've never purchased anything from Vick - what he's taught for free on youtube has definitely helped with the learning curve.

That being said I appreciate the perspective of knowing his history.

Still think he gives and has given a lot of value - for free.

Pay per click marketing is known to make any affiliate a lot of money when they use it effectively. Some people don't use it the right way and that's why most fail.
