Here's an interesting read about how traditional 'video' advertising is making its way to online...

Ad Spend to Shift from TV to Online Marketing

According to a recent survey conducted by the Interactive Advertising Bureau, worldwide ad spends are expected to shift from TV to digital video over the next few years. The IAB surveyed 297 brand owners and ad agency executives in preparation for the Digital New Fronts event which is set to take place in New York.

The majority of the people who responded to the survey said that they expect to spend more on digital video advertising in 2014 than they did in 2013. Around two thirds of respondents said that they planned to cut their TV budgets to increase their digital spend. However, half of those who responded to the survey said that they expected to increase their total ad spend over the course of this year.

More and more content creators are developing original online series, and advertisers are well aware of this fact and are looking to get involved with those content creators so that they can reach a young and engaged audience of people who tend not to watch TV.

In addition to increasing digital ad spends, it is expected that cross-platform buys will also increase over the course of the year. Companies that are getting a lot of attention from brands looking to advertise online include YouTube, Buzzfeed and Yahoo. The main barrier to adoption, cited by 74% of advertisers, is that reporting is perceived as poor in the online advertising space. Those advertisers said that if metrics were more consistent with TV they would consider moving a larger portion of their ad-spend online.

Of those that do buy ads online, 71% have said that they buy directly from the website, rather than going via an ad-network. Whether this will scale as more advertisers move online is something that remains to be seen.

Hmmm, it's funny how EVERY single Classified thread you open, the first person to comment is always the user Sajid Nasir and they always say the exact same thing. However they never comment in any other threads ever.

Stop with the forum spam.

How difficult is it to convert jpg to svg format? I ask because I am interested in this new product if I can successfully import my pictures and have them sketched as the image I saw in the original sales letter with Paul in front of the yacht.

your thoughts please.

It's super simple: just download the open source, FREE Inkscape software. No, I'm not affiliated (and don't think they have affiliates since it's open source anyway!) There are good tutorials online in case the ones Inkscape provides aren't sufficient!

Actually, it's not always possible to directly convert JPG to SVG. It depends on the complexity of the image.

Many simple images (e.g. clipart) in PNG or JPG can be handled by Easy Sketch Pro. Other, more complicated, images need to be run though graphics software such as Inkscape or Photoshop.

Very complicated images such as most photographs, have to be sketched first into SVG format. If you cannot do this yourself, there are many people on Fiverr.com who will do it for you.

Has anyone here purchased Easy Sketch Pro
and can offer a review?

One concern... the video created is 4:3 rather than 16:9

I have bought Easy Sketch Pro.

The software itself seems to work as described but...

I want to be able to use my own SVG images, rather than the ones supplied. I have used Inkscape and iDraw (on Mac) to create SVGs. First you have to ungroup everything for Easy Sketch Pro (ESP) to import the images (a nuisance as it excludes iDraw).

But none of the images I have imported as SVG files work - the software does not draw them as advertised, in the way it does for the supplied images.

I am sure there is a solution to making my SVG files compliant, but my help request was 'noted' but not answered. And the seller's support system blocks a second ticket until they close the first.

William Martin - who responded on 4 June - seems to be a major promoter of the software and does have an interest, I am sure. He prepared the user manual.

But he therefore seems very knowledgeable, so, William: what do we need to do to create SVG files in Inkscape that work?

Trish - will happily do a review when I can get my own imported SVGs working. At the moment all I can say is that it seems easy to use and to work well - but only for the SVG files the developer provides. This is okay if you want to build your videos out of stock (1990s clip-art standard) images.

I just bought ESP yesterday... got worried about being stuck with their limited supply of working graphics, especially after reading this post. I did a little experiment... I downloaded from []Free Vector graphic art, free photos, free icons, free website templates, psd graphic, photoshop brush, font, free download a beautiful .jpg of an apple and opened it in Irfanview (amazing free software!) and chose "Save As" and saved it as a .png -- took a nanosecond to do! Then, I opened this apple.png in my ESP and presto! It worked like a charm! Didn't even have to convert, mess around, do a bunch of steps, etc. Have no idea if it was Irfanview magic or if this software also doesn't mind using .pngs and not just .svgs. Hope this helps someone! I'm now happy I bought ESP, wasn't sure before just a few moments ago.

Donna, Greensmyle

I too have found that png files work. However, the software does not know what sequence to draw the lines in, and I would like to control that sequence. Because the SVG standard is a sequence of paths, they will be ideal for what I want.

Also, the ESP software needs to interpret PNGs by finding edges. This means that a line in a PNG becomes an outline. This is a clever compromise by ESP, but not what I would ideally want. I want it to read a clean SVG file and am still working on understanding what the salient difference is between my non-working ellipse and the ellipses that work in the extra files that the ESP sellers offer for download.

It does seem a good piece of software, but does not yet do what I need it to do: to work with SVG files I create.

Okay people; after much experimentation - and comparing working and non-working SVG files line by line, I can report that I have got ESP to import my own SVG file, created in Inkscape, and draw it as it is supposed to.

The two things that seem to be absolutely necessary:

1. before saving your SVG file, do a Select All, and then Object Ungroup

2. after saving (because I cannot find a way to do this in Inkscape) edit the file, so that each path explicitly has the fill attribute as a single line (not just as part of a composite style attribute). The colour you assign does not seem to over-ride the end colour of the line segment. For this I use a 99c (£0.69) App Store app: XML Notepad.

Step 2 is a nuisance - especially if there are a lot of paths to edit. But it works (so far).

I would still like to hear from the makers of ESP on how to simplify this process, but for now, I can make the videos I want, with lines drawn in the order I want.

Thanks so much for your resource, but what version are you talking about? 1,01?
I also got ESP and took the ver 1.0.7, I think there is some bug in this ver
The default pause of "drag in" is 0,5 second, not zero , so i cannot create the full move across the cavas.

I bought ESP and experimented with Inkscape image converter. It can't be used with pictures and high pixels images. It gets so slow it practically stops functioning.

And if Paint is used to reduce size, quality is affected adversely.

I used other .png and .svg converters and up to now Pixillion seems to be an excellent free converter. Fast and easy.

You need to have both conversions: .png and .svg of each image or picture, so that you can upload your own images and pictures to ESP Library.

If you are uploading your images to ESP Image Library the images have to be ungrouped. Inkscape has the "ungrouping" feature. But Pixillion doesn't.

And apparently, jpeg, png and svg don't have ungrouping capability even in a powerpoint presentation slides.

The advantage of using ESP Library for your images is if you have many pictures and images to upload, you can do it fast and all at once with the "bulk import" ESP feature.

Imagine, I have a 200 slides presentation, uploading them one by one!

I can do it one by one even without converting them to png or svg. I did a sketch with .jpeg and bitman images, and it was excellent. Youtube link:

Voiceover is in Spanish.

Background music track is from ESP.

Pictures are mine.

I uploaded some pictures to a folder in ESP Library, conversions .png and svg.

But the pictures can't be placed in the ESP canvass because they need to be "Ungroup".

Anybody knows how I can do that, if it is possible, without using Inkscape?

Sincerely,

Antonios

After fixing those things that are not explained in the ESP tutorials I am planning on writing a complementary report for ESP newbies, so that support requests can be reduce and you have the answers at hand.

Trish,

In Easy Video Pro you can select your canvas size so you can make them as big or small as you like. This video was created with Easy Video Pro and is the size you are looking for I think.

I hope this helps.

BE AWARE . You will have to pay for each major update even if the developer does not mention it. I abandoned ESP after I had to pay to update from ver. 1 to 2. If you purchase ver. 2 expect a few minor updates and after 2-3 months, whooop .. ver.3 comes out, and you have to pay again.

I don't not mind to pay for future updates, but I expect to be informed before I make a purchase of a digital product.

Go with videoscribe, at least there are no "hidden" fees.

Easy Sketch Pro is a very inexpensive tool compared to competing tools with monthly fees. Also, the updates don't happen every couple of months. At most, there will be 1-2 major updates per year which may require upgrading. Even then, the price is very good.

I've made most of my money through Affiliate Marketing, Adsense & Infoproducts. I promise to provide lots of FREE VALUE from all my experience over the past decade!

Can you or anyone explain what the issue is with ESP 3 continually crashing?

I cannot make any videos beyond the first slide, before it crashes...
