Adding a Picture to my membership?

Hi, I'm a complete newbie today to Warrior and looking forward to joining in the discussions but I have been trying for an hour to add a profile picture and getting a 404 error notice.

I'm scaled my picture down to below the requirements and have run out of ideas and options.

Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

Thanks

First of all, welcome to the forum.

The way to set up your avatar is to click on your User CP (on the left at the top) and from the drop-down menu, select "Edit Options". Then click "Settings Options" followed by "Edit Avatar".

Is that what you've been trying?

I can't see where you mean on the left. I've been clicking below my name and going into settings and edit profile picture.

      I will try again.
Thanks so much for this answer Frank.

Ah. I forgot it's different in the modern view. OK, if you click on your name in the top black bar, and then click "View Classic" from the drop-down menu, all will be revealed. Then follow the path I mentioned above.

It's confusing that setting your avatar (the picture that appears in your posts) and setting your picture (that appears in your profile) are separate actions with different size limitations.

Hi Frank, thanks for trying to help. Maybe it is that I'm just too new.
I used all your instructions and it still times out whether I try to put a small picture as per instructions or my avatar.

I will just have to keep trying.

      Hi Frank,

Just an update. I still haven't managed to add my photo. It keeps sending me to open a Freelancer account and I have no idea who they are.

I'll keep trying, thanks for your advice.

It's been a while since I looked at avatar setup ...where is your image posted online? I may be wrong but seem to remember you can't use an avatar directly from your computer to WF?

Frank - does that make sense?

It's been a while since I set mine up, but it was directly from my computer. These days, who knows?

      I'm glad I joined when I did.

      Thanks Kay.
I was thinking that I might put in for a site support ticket with the photo and see if they are able to fix it.
I hate not having a picture in place.

Freelancer owns this forum - it's a huge business based in Australia. That's why they ask you to join there as well. Look up freelancer.com in your browser and you'll quickly see it's a legit company.

When this forum was purchased by Freelancer in 2014 all members were automatically assigned freelancer accounts by the new owners. Hadn't heard of this recently but could be people sign up and don't think anything about it.

There's no spam/scam or anything involved (at least not that I've seen all these years).
