Re: Warrior Forum Going Back To Paid Status
Share on:
fb share twitter share gplus share more share

Let me try to clarify something. "Try" is the operative word here. If I don't have all the facts right, hopefully Allen or fellow mods will correct me.

I first joined the Warriors in '98 for a $29.90 one-time fee, which got me access into the Warrior private site. Entry to the forum was included in that one-time fee. However, the forum (located on the Uni-Sol site) was not inside the password-protected site and was accessible to those who had not paid the $29.90 and who knew how to get to the forum.

No fees were required to access the forum.

Later, the membership fee was raised to $39.90 and then $49.90

After that, private-site access came with the Host4Profit and (later) Warriorpro hosting plan. This also included free entry to the (new version) Warrior forum, which was still accessible to those who didn't pay anything.

No fees were required to access the forum.

The Herd Mind and Alliance forums were started as experiments to enable members to carry on conversations that would accrue to their advantage and hopefully spawn new ideas/methods/concepts/projects/businesses that members could use to their advantage. These forums were optional and were not essential to participation in the Warrior forum.

However, the conversations inside those forums became much like the ones in the main (free) forum, so Allen decided that it wasn't nice to charge the members (monthly) for the kinds of conversations which they were already getting free in the main forum.

So the Herd Mind and Alliance forums were closed. Still, no fees were required to access the Warrior forum.

Then came the "ultimate forum" - The War Room. This was/is the mother of all info-product cum forum, as far as I'm concerned. You'd wouldn't believe the kinds of things you could get in there, knowledge-wise. Free members had to pay to access the War Room.

However, if they chose not to become a War Room member, they were still able to access the main Warrior forum(s), including the WSO board.

At no point in time were any forum members charged for access to the Warrior forum. Any membership fees paid were for access to the private site that contained all sorts of marketing/training resources, not the forum. Only NOW, for the first time, is there a fee for a full membership to the forum.

Hope that made sense.

In any case, the Warrior forum has been the best thing that has ever happened to me in my business, and even my personal, life. Through thick and thin, through winters and springs, through births and deaths, I could come here and see that behind this screen and behind this forum-interface, I'm connected to a sea of humanity who share the same dreams and fears as I, that I'm not alone.

When during those dark nights in front of a blue screen I had lost direction, I could read the words of fellow Warriors who carried on in spite of fears and obstacles, I would find a way out.

If cyberspace had ruins, a couple hundred years from now, if someone happened upon the ruins of the Warrior forum, they would find dreams, and hopes, and fears, and smiles.

Yes, smiles. Big smiles. And warm hearts. Smiles and hearts that say, "Yes, I was a Warrior. I was here. With Allen Says, and Paul Myers, and John Taylor, and Les Gibbons, and Bryan Kumar, and Bob Siber, etc., and yes, even that ol' Malaysian Chinaman, Kenneth Tang. Together, we made history".

That is what you're paying for, ladies and gentleman.

With respect,

Kenneth

Great decision on your part Allen!

I really don't know what all the fuss is about. This is hands down a no brainer. I really think 37 bucks is a big steal for something that has great value in my opinion.

If the war room had cost $370.00 that too would had been a steal for me. So 37 bucks for something that can change your financial future for the better and leave you with a positive ROI is really a no brainer.

I say take the deal now while Allen is still giving this away for only 37 bucks before he wakes up and realized that he had made a terrible mistake charging so little for this golden opportunity.

Cheers
Emanuel

I have been a lurker here for over a year and a member for a few months. I will pay to join when I get around to it
As you can see I don't post very much , mostly just to thank someone but i am posting now to say...
Please don't raise the price of the WSO !!!
I came here today to check them out for what I usually do - cheap article packs . I was actually looking at a thread for websites for sale , around $30 each , when I noticed this thread and noticed a lot of people asking you to raise the price of the WSO's as well . If you do that the article packs , templates , cheap websites and various other good deals will be gone and that will be a great loss to us all.
I do agree with the signature part though , I don't use one because I feel I haven't earned the right to yet , but that's just me

I agree wholeheartedly with your decision Allen. I joined back in the early days (in 1998... even though my profile says 2004) and, for the most part, the forum has been populated by IMers who seriously want to help one another. (In fact, if my memory serves me, I think we had to pay a one-time fee of $19.95 or something like that for a lifetime membership at that time).

Then, when you rolled out the war room, I upgraded because I wanted to continue to have access to the most serious warriors.

We MUST do something to protect the integrity of WF so it doesn't lose its value for those of us who are serious about IM as a business.

The way you are doing this is very fair... people can still read/post to get info for building their business for free.

However, if they want to use WF to make an offer to the warriors, they will need to pay to upgrade.

Very fair!

Wow! I finally decided to checkout the forum and browse through the post on this paid status topic I'm not a paying member yet but I will be soon, I like the close nit community spirit here. As I was reading along,it reminded me of a trucker convention on the CB radio, except it sounded more intelligent and less clicky. LoL! I think we're fortunate to have this forum so paying is the least we could do to keep it proffessional. I'm going to have to ask my wife if I can borrow her Credit Card first though. LoL!

Well, I for one am glad to see this happening.

I have been absent from the forum for a while and it was partly because of the problems that Allen identified.

I look forward to the change and coming back into the fold!

Hi Ron, don't worry, when you see posts about raising the price of WSO, they are talking about raising the price to list it, not to buy it that is up to the person who is selling.

Thank you for the opportunity to upgrade at an affordable one time fee. I think the warrior forum is so important for beginners as well as advanced internet marketers, that it is a MUST to become a serious user. And your fee is affordable for beginners as well, and worth much more than a bundle of products which are purchased by so many beginners and then stick on their pc (as I did myself much too often).

Thanks again

I'm new here at the Warrior Forum. This is a popular site and I can see that paying for something always makes people appreciate a given situation even if they don't like having to pay for it.

It will probably bring more professionalism to the site and this forum is worth it because it offers a lot of value.

I almost joined the "War Room" before I read this message (finally I'll get to know what goes on in there). I don't have a problem with paying. When I first joined many years ago (even before the date under my name), I paid to be a member. I don't come all that often & have never posted a WSO, but when I do come I don't want massive restrictions on me. This move will definitely keep out the "undesirables." Many of them come here because they have no money or don't want to spend any money for any other kind of marketing. Blasting out spam PM's didn't cost before nor did doing "drive by" or one-liner posts to get your post count up. Check out the spam on Craigslist under the "Jobs" category. Only where you can post for FREE do you see tons of it. Where it's $25 to post (like LA, NYC, SF) there is not nearly as much.

Cynthia

P.S. I wish I would've read this before I deleted all my messages!

I purchased a LIFETIME Membership years ago. Those of us who willfully paid a LIFETIME membership should be "grandfathered" in.

I demand my LIFETIME membership to be included in this new one-time fee membership. Otherwise, I was duped!

That was a reply to Katie (and really IMHO anyone who has been saying they CAN'T...). At the risk of sounding "funny", you CAN see the forum (most of it), for FREE... and what you can see WILL help you make money. The CAN'T's are those who won't DO what needs doing... That is, taking action...

This isn't just going to limit the incentives to spam. It's also going to get more people to do something with what they're learning. A LOT of people don't take anything seriously that they get for free.

Paul
My apologies, Paul, for cutting up your reply, but (like the RD people do, I concised it...LOL) I did it to illustrate one thing... Honest people will pay, until we die, for the dishonest ones, in increased costs for almost everything we use and need in this world. We pay for protection, we pay for insurance, etc...

By paying a little for "protection", albeit limited, we stand to gain so much.

And in closing, I agree with the following:

This is the right action needed. More and more new warrior members break the trust and the reputation of this great forum. Making it paid hopefully can restrict these guys just trying to SCAM or even try to cheat anyone. Truly a wise decision!

No need to complain about having to pay to join the War Room.

Here's how to get in for free.

Notice in the left panel of this post it says

Harvey.Segal (user name)
Mr SuperTips (custom user title)
War Room Member (denotes a registered War Room member)

All you need to do is change your custom user title
to 'War Room Member'.

(It appears in your Profile under 'Edit Your Details').

So it will now read something like

John Smith
War Room Member

Now write to the Help Desk and say

"Hey - there's a bug in the system, I can't get access even though
you can see I'm a member"

They won't notice that it appears on a different line (if
they do just tell them they have a browser problem) and very
soon you will be upgraded.

It is a shame when that happens. Hopefully in this case, the people who can't afford the $37 up front are a minority as well.

I was looking for the option in my control panel to hide the "War Room Member" label on my posts -- is that possible?

Thanks.

Hi Allen

I think it's a very good move and I don't mind to pay 37 bucks. I would even
vote for a monthly fee as it would be more effective.

Though imo aktive Internet Warriors should have this included in their membership.
Back in time when I joined IW the WF was part of the offer. And it would add value to the IW membership.

Just my 2 cents

It's linked by your username in the forum. You are good as I can see you are a "War Room Member" now.

Yeah, I think the PayPal API automatically tracks which payment is associated to which username in the forum, so there shouldnt be any problems.

Don't know if it's possible...but probably not a good idea to do that, Jay. Because, that would make me stop approving your WSOs.

I assumed you guys had some other way to know -- or there was a back-end flag that would keep non WR members from actually posting in that area.

I've seen more than one message where people imply (or state outright) that you must not be "serious" or a "real marketer" if you don't join the WR, and I hate being lumped in with dorks like that.

If the option to hide the member label ever comes up (while still allowing me to post WSOs, etc.,) I'll take it.

Thanks.

Hmm, I am just investigating the whole afiliate marketing thing, so I guess I am pretty much a newbie. Anyway I will join the war room, there is something vaguely Churchillian about it that I like being a brit and all!

I look forward to developing a succesful afiliate marketing business...

One question though is: Is it possible to do so without all the hype.. Being an understated Brit I cannot tell you how annoying I find all these buy it now special offers.

Anyway see you in the War Room!

I, like many others paid for War Room Membership back months ago, and can truly tell you that there is so much value in there you wouldn't believe it.

I myself gave away almost $3,000 worth of free software copies of my software before I closed the offer. And it was only to War Room Members. Why would I do such a thing? Because, I paid my fee to get in, and so did they. And I realized that it only made the community better. So you'll find alot of folks inside who are very generous, and very sharing of the info. Take advantage if you can.

Imagine this: Take all the IM information, ebooks, books, tapes, digital downloads, bonuses, OTO's, freebies, video trainings, memberships, and pile them all together, and charge $37 for them.

What did you pay for them when you bought them. Probably alot more than $37.

I have also spent my fair share on WSO's in this forum, but I know one thing...

2 minds, form a 3rd mind, called a mastermind.

In the war room, there are hundreds of "master minds" and you can suck up all that knowledge in there apply it, and really ... i mean really, do something with it.

I've started using alot of concepts in my online and offline businesses, and have noticed close to a 1000% increase in sales.

Just My 2 cents worth! See you in the WR.

If you can't make that kind of sacrifice, you are not a true Warrior.

Seriously, I think quality has a value which it's worth paying for, so the decision is 100% correct. Will see to upgrade soon.

WHEN this takes place ? Will there be any price increases ?

PS. Just see what we marketers teach those guy's, WF full of spammers, tststs......
Stupid me, it's a ONE TIME FEE, I thought it was $37 per month (what wouldn't be that far from the value the WAR room delivers).

Just send you the money.
