Thanks Allen,

The quality of the posts and the quality of the people within WF will definitely go up.

I agree with Kevin Riley (Post #39) in that you've gotta pay the WF to show that you're somewhat serious about this business. Besides people tend to appreciate something more and take it more seriously when it costs them something rather than if it's just another freebie.

The return of the paid WF will create more JV's, a tighter community, spit out the wannabee's and bring in the real barbarians.

The only problem I'm having...

I'm a paid member (have been for ages - even though I was here at the start, I rejoined the war room last year).

Anyway - I saw a post in a thread that was obvious spam, totally unrelated to the topic... I clicked the "report" button to report it, but it said I had to rejoin??

Strange. lol.

You might want to check that out? Anyone should be able to report something that shouldn't be here I'd think, even if they are free to help keep it going the right way, at least in my thoughts - but even if you have to have it as only paid - its not working

That's a great question. I would also like to know if the War Room member can post a website for sale at no charge.

Thanks Allen!

I too paid to join IMW way back in the day, but I don't mind paying again, because the value you get here is better than any other place online! I will easily make the $37 back before the day is out. It's a no brainer to rejoin!

Just a possible suggestion, Allen (albeit it'll look silly when other forums using
the same software can do this without charge...): when a new member signs
up under username A, eventually decides to upgrade, but wants to change to
username B, how about giving them that option? Unless I missed that, maybe,
and it might at least cut down user requests for it.

I agree with your decision here. And I guess so do everyone else who thanked
you. (and still growing, I think...)

I think this is a fantastic idea!

Don't want it to become like other forums I bailed from.

It would also probably help to see a one post a day limit and no sigs or links in post unless a paid member. That way new members can still ask questions and have access to the board.

Just my thoughts.

Allen I disagree with you this will stop spamming. You mean to say $37 will stop the serious spammers if they see value in spamming the forum?

I'm in the camp that it will seriously cut down on the spammers.

If a person has to resort to spamming in order to get anything going, they're probably not going to risk wasting a dime when there is the threat of being banned after paying out the little bit of cash they may have. My guess is most spammers can't afford $37 in any form or fashion.

Some will, most won't.

Why this change has been made:

The forum is getting overrun with "less than acceptable" people who have discovered how easy it is to make money with Warrior Special Offers and that they can get a site indexed within minutes by posting a junk blog on the forum.

I deleted 7 blogs last night that were made by people with zero posts to their name. These are not serious members, these are spammers.

It's been my experience that people who pay for something respect it more and are at least willing to read the rules.

I know this will not stop all the problems but it will drastically cut down on them.

Thank you for understanding..

I understand your concept....and it does help, A LOT, back in the day I was a full time self employed Musician, and I always prefered working clubs with a COVER CHARGE!
It made for a better class of looser's, and kept out the riff raff trouble makers, the more the cover charge the nicer the club!

Now don't anyone go getting PC on me!.......I am not saying there are any looser's on this forum! You get my point, so good idea Allen!

As an inexperienced visitor here who has not long discovered the incredible usefulness of WF, I was just wondering what this means to me???

Will I still be able to read posts to the forum and take advantage of the advice and experience of others here and even purchase the occasional WSO?

So far I haven't even made any money, and everyone keeps asking for payment. I thought at last I had found some where I could lurk and learn with out it costing me piles of money, but now I'm woudering ---- Should I now pay the $37 so that I can keep on reading the great posts here?

No, you have to pay $20 for every WSO that you post.

Becoming a War room member makes you eligible to post a WSO.

Good move Allen. Good move.. I've been in the shoes of trying to manage a forum while so many try to undermine it's success with stupidity. Do what you have to - you have a ton of people, including myself, that understand the value of what you offer here in this forum.. and won't blink.

Ironically this post is filled with one liner replies typical to spammers which the post topic is trying to address. =)

But at the same time, I think this is a excellent move for the forum.

Yes, the main forum is still open. And yep, you can purchase WSOs. The big difference is that you can't get into the War Room (which is the private forum and has always cost $37) and you can't post WSOs.

All members are moderators here. So if you see a spammy post, it's your responsibility to hit the little triangle icon and report the post. After a few members have reported a post, it disappears (goes into moderation, at which time Allen or the super mods can bring it back from the dead if they want... though that usually takes three days... ).

cheers,
Becky

Hi there!

I'm trying to upgrade and I keep getting sent to an old PayPal account that I haven't used in years instead of one of my two current accounts. I'm not sure why this is happening, but perhaps a way around it is to send me (in a PM if preferred) the email address to which I can PayPal the money directly from my US account. Would that be okay?

Sorry for the trouble. I don't fully understand the problem, since I haven't run across it before.

Thanks and I hope to hear from you soon!

Hi again!

I figured out how to trick PayPal into using my British account. It cost me a little more money, but there were great problems using my US account through PayPal. No worries. I'm back in the gang.

Cheers!

Excellent move BUT:

I can't beleive you only gave us 20 years membership!

That means we are paying a whopping $00.005c per day!

I'm 85 years old and love this place so much! Can't you make it 30 years
Allen?

Newbie here.

just my luck I get referred to join a great forum and once I do they throw a charge at me. I know it is not compulsory but just my luck, boo hoo me.

I think I will look around some and see if I can gleam some value before I offer up my hard earned bucks. I also hope this is not going to be considered spam as I really do not know what spam is nowadays. Back to forum reading...

Hey
I have 1 question:
If I become a War Room Member by paying $37, then will I have to pay $20 per WSO that I want to get listed? Or the $37 will give me power to have any no. of WSO's listed?

I believe this is a good step - serious people would love spending this money to have clean things in a valuable place like WF, rather than remaining cheap and junk'ed.

Allen, good effort.

I can't say how glad I am to see this. Being one of the OLD Warriors I actually quit hanging out in here because of the mentioned issues. Been hanging out again the last couple months and I'm very excited to see some change to curb these situations!

Two Thumbs Up Allen!!!

Excellent idea! I was wondering when you guys were going to do something like this to keep the spammers and everything off of this site.

Thanks man!

James

Hey Allen,

Thanks for taking a pro-active stance. Great call, and the community appreciates it.

Paul Myers has talked about "cycles" in the forum. Hopefully the spammers cycle themselves over a cliff.

Cheers,

Andrew
