Hi everyone,

I started Warrior Forum back in 1997 with the goal of creating a community of like minded internet marketers to share ideas, learn from each other and build their online empires. In 17 years I am proud to say that our community has grown to over 732,000 members strong, making us the world's largest internet marketing forum.

Today I am happy to announce that Warrior Forum will become part of the Freelancer.com family. I've spent a long time thinking about what the best next step should be and I feel certain that Freelancer.com will be able to provide Warrior Forum with the resources, energy and time required to continue the community and improve it to make it even bigger and better.

Freelancer.com is the world's largest outsourcing and freelancing marketplace with a community of over 10.8 million skilled professionals from all over the globe. They are growing quickly and have participated in forums just like you and I.

Warrior Forum will remain independent to Freelancer.com and will have a separate dedicated team to better support you. I know they are excited to be joining our great community and will be working alongside us to take Warrior Forum to the next level. You'll receive an introduction email from Freelancer.com shortly.

I look forward to this exciting new phase of Warrior Forum and hope you can join me in welcoming Freelancer.com!

- Allen Says

I bet you never in your dreams though WF was going to grow into this HUGE of a forum.

I don't spend as much time here as I like and used to but the value from this forum is insane...

If I could promote the War Room as an affiliate product I would share it with everyone... I don't remember what I paid to be a part of it a few years back ....but it has paid for itself 100 Times over! (maybe even 1000 x over)

        Thanks Allen,

    Hello everyone!

This is Matt Barrie, Chief Executive of Freelancer.com.

I am pleased to announce that Warrior Forum has joined the Freelancer family.

We are excited and looking forward to working with you to better support the community.

Allen Says founded Warrior Forum in 1997 and I’ve personally watched the community grow to over 730,000 members, becoming the world’s largest Internet marketing forum.

We will be allocating substantial resources to further grow Warrior Forum! We will be dedicating engineers to build features and customer experience specialists to interact with the community in order to understand intimately what you like. They’ll be working closely with the moderators moving forward.

The most important thing, however, is that we listen to you- the community. We’ll be going through the suggestions section and would love to hear more about your ideas and feedback. I am really keen to hear from you!

Also please feel free to email me at matt@freelancer.com with any suggestions, ideas, and thoughts or just to touch base and introduce yourself.

Effective immediately we are making a few permanent improvements to pricing:
    * All WSO listings will now be reduced from $40 to $20
    * All current War Room members will have their 20 year membership extended to lifetime, immediately. Moving forward new memberships will be $20 per year.

Thank you for your support of Warrior Forum in the past and I look forward to working with you to take Warrior Forum to the next phase!

    Regards,
    Matt Barrie

I knew that something big had to be happening when I received the first broadcast email from Allen since I don't know when. That fact alone demonstrates how the owner of "the world's largest internet marketing forum" has always resisted exploiting the members for his own immediate gain. How many marketers would have been able to leave such a huge and targeted list relatively untouched during all this time?

The changes that have been made to this forum, at least from my own point of view, have always been made with the overall benefit of the members in mind - and I trust Allen to have made the best possible arrangement for the future of the forum, and its members, with this deal.

So, congrats, Allen, of course. But more than that, thanks for looking out for us all these years. And good luck with whatever you plan to do now.

When is the new pricing of $20 effective for bumping WSO's?
I just bumped mine one and it was still $40.

Also warm welcome to the new Admin

      Congratulation Matt for the acquisition.

      Warriors,
You will find Freelancer.com's team exceptionally user friendly.
I've been with them for 3 years. I started my career with Scriptlance which got merged with Freelancer 1.5 years ago.

I was scared when that happened but Freelancer.com team proved me wrong.
They helped me in whenever I needed them. They are unbeatable in the support. In short, don't worry and be happy for this merger.
Please share your feedback as mentioned by Matt, if any.
I wish all of you all the very best and welcome all of you to the Freelancer.com community.

      Hi Matt,

Congratulations to both Freelancer.com and Allan Says.

Sounds good and I hope you and the company you represents keep your word on that as I don't have any good experience with takeovers, especially not when the target isn't that significant for the acquirer in terms of revenue and profit as it would be for the founder who has put a lot of time, money and effort into it.

So I really hope WarriorForum will stay as it is or become even better and I really looking forward to working with you.

      Best regards,

      Jimmy

Splorf. Come on Paul. The real story is much more interesting than this vague, generic, revisionistic glop that is only sort of true depending on how wants to view things.
        "Revisionistic?" Hardly.

Bland? Sure. But it was accurate, short, and answered the question that was asked.

The hype and drama weren't useful for the response.

I've been a member of Warrior Forum for years. Started off as a total newbie, spent most of my time learning, and I was just about ready to join the War Room. If I join NOW (like, within 24 hours) would I still be eligible for the lifetime membership?

Also, have you considered offering the lifetime membership for a limited time until, say, April 30 or maybe even just for a week? It might bring many who've been on the sidelines for a while into both Warrior and Freelancer and encourage them to become more active, as opposed to just looking and learning.

      Thanks for considering this option!

I'm glad to see that long time members of the forum will be integrated to the operations. This certainly settles concerns as it helps to see that there are decision makers who are aware of the culture

I think this is an excellent move for WF members and freelancer. (though we'll see how it goes)

I'm extremely excited to see this partnership. I love both Warrior Forum & Freelancer.

I've been making money on WF via WSOs for over 5 years now. It's wonderful to see the WSO price drop. What an excellent way to provide immediate value to the core members here.

It's also exciting to think about the possibilities on the horizon from this partnership.

Matt, you posted your personal email... that really shows a lot of character and let's us know that you actually care about the people in this community.

Thanks for the update Allen, can't wait to see how this grows!

We are excited and looking forward to working with you to better support the community.

Allen Says founded Warrior Forum in 1997 and I've personally watched the community grow to over 730,000 members, becoming the world's largest Internet marketing forum.

We will be allocating substantial resources to further grow Warrior Forum! We will be dedicating engineers to build features and customer experience specialists to interact with the community in order to understand intimately what you like. They'll be working closely with the moderators moving forward.

The most important thing, however, is that we listen to you- the community. We'll be going through the suggestions section and would love to hear more about your ideas and feedback.

In all honesty, I'm not so sure that lowering the prices on WSO's is a great move that will improve the quality of the forum. The $40 price point eliminates just about the right amount of crap being posted. I also imagine that with the new $20 lower fee, a WSO post will also disappear from the first page even faster than they already do. Not very attractive for advertisers. Just my 2 cents.

My take on this is i think they (Freelancer) are trying to get even more people join in board by lowering the prices, i think they can handle the quality with more work force to monitor it, more competition = more quality

      Hi Matt,

As a big user of Freelancer with over 30 projects having been completed in the last few years, I'm hoping you guys will be definite positive impact on the forum.

I also have to say that I totally agree with Arnold on the points he raised.

I realize that lowing the WSO posting price will boost your revenues, but at the same time a drop in price allows the potential for more 'crappy' 'WSO's to be posted.

And that's a real concern, because members can easily start shying away from buying WSO's if a lot of inferior quality products are being put up.

That then has a big negative impact of members who do post quality WSO's

So you really need to watch this very closely Matt.

There sure will be an increase in bumps / sales threads but I don't expect that it will be twice as much so in the end you're still cheaper of.

Unless the forum gets heavily promoted to the 10 million users of Freelancer.com, that's a lot of new competition!

Don't forget - WSO's were free some years ago. A charge of $20 improved the situation for a while - $40 did the same - but only for a while. That section is sometimes a victim of its own success.

Change is good and the timing feels right. I think Freelancer will be a great match - and Allen can go have some fun (like that's something new).

      I have to disagree.....

The $20 price point will make it more affordable for newbies....

As far as the time on page one, you will be paying half as much for less time... That seems fair.... You can always bump as needed.

Talking about crap WSOs... There are so many.... I think it would be a tough.... or nearly impossible job to weed out the "crap" from WSOs that provide real value....

Once they do weed them out, 98% of the current WSOs would fall in the "crap" or violating FTC guidelines. I know this is unpopular... But, it is true.

If you feel that way, and since "crap" does appear to be the general consensus on the forum from what I see in the threads when people talk about the WSO section, then maybe it's time for something different.

Lowering the prices is not the solution.

Maybe create a separate premium WSO section for whoever can, and wants to pay $100 or $50, etc, and leave the $20 bargain basement section for whoever wants to dig in there?

It's a win win, and that's my suggestion.

Ya know, irresponsible comments like this make me want to start swinging the ban hammer. Seriously.

What percentage of the WSOs posted in, say, the past 6 months, have you actually purchased? If it doesn't closely approximate 100%, you have no business making claims like this.

My experience, based on just the stuff I've actually bought and looked at, is nearly the reverse. The overwhelming majority have offered value well in excess of the price I paid. But then, I actually look at the offers and buy stuff I have reason to believe I'll use. And they tend to be software and graphics, not ridiculous "Make $XYZ instantly" garbage.

I believe it was Laurie Anderson who once replied, when asked how she dealt with all the negative people in the world, "You're hanging out with the wrong people."

          Paul,

Honesty is in no way to be confused with "negativism."

          I'll clarify.....

98% of the IM/MMO WSOs I have purchased are plain "crap." The creator makes money selling the product... NOT by using his "money making" method... They are hypocrites. Plain... and simple.

Now, I have yet to see a IM/MMO WSO with "income proof" that meets the strict FTC guidelines.... You can educate yourself here. Really read it... It is very strict.

          You also admit:

Thing is I don't think we even need to argue about this. its an issue that will sort itself out due to the fact businesses do not pay millions of dollars (much much lower a price than I would have ever imagined though) for legal headaches. That and the present ownership has another existing business and interest that will guide certain decisions beyond WSO income. So let it play out my man. Read between the lines (and some not even between). This was an acquisition for synergy not WSO fee income and as such you will probably in time see those issues you bring up addressed.

Paul, what would your opinion be on possibly separating the threads...

Let's say... one thread for the "How I got lucky for the first time in 10 years of trying online and made $10 last week, let me show you how I did it" products, and one thread for the software, graphics, and other items of interest for the rest of us.

Also, as I mentioned earlier, maybe add premium priced threads etc.

Paul, while I totally agree that many WSOs provide incredible value for the price they're asking (seriously, there is some insane value there),
I must disagree on your hammer swinging ... it's an open forum, meaning that a person's gold nugget may very well be another person's crap (i.e low-value). I guess his point is that we should try to keep the general level of value in WSOs pretty high. Nothing wrong with that.

So what other aspects will be changed besides those pricing changes?

I just get really worried seeing this because this is such a great community of such great people that really provide a lot of value to others (free and paid value) and I just don't want to see anything that would jeopardize that. With that being said I believe the Freelancer crew has good intentions.

I think you don't have to worry too much about prices being too low. A certain amount of free speech or free expression is desirable. The Warrior Forum moderators have done a great job of keeping a good "balance" here on the Warrior Forum. The moderators will be essential moving forward.

As the world's largest outsourcing and freelancing marketplace, I am very hopeful that Freelancer.com will make outsourcing opportunities both "easily accessible" and "less expensive" for Warrior Forum members.
      (1) Is it fair of me to hope for this for Warrior Forum members?

      (2) Exactly how will moderators and "moderation" be affected moving forward?

      (3) How will the quality, quantity, and pricing of WSO's be affected?

      (4) The Warrior Forum has functioned as an outstanding place to connect newbies with inexpensive opportunities and with truly successful Senior Warriors who wanted to give back to the world by helping newbies. How will this function be affected moving forward?

I've been a member of the Warrior Forum for 11 years and created my first software product on Scriptlance a decade ago.

Now Freelancer.com owns them both... I guess I'll have to take a closer look at them.

Allen, thank you. It's been a great ride and it's been very fun watching you navigate this amazing ship. Membership in this forum is one of the great resources that helped me launch my business, build my reputation, and succeed.

    Congratulations. Well deserved.

Congrats Allen!! It has been a great journey. Hope Freelancer.com can take this forward.

What happens to the paid section like Bryan's Kindle Club and Kurt's Video Club?

Also what about the sections "Warriors for Hire" , "Websites for Sale" etc.?

          Hi Mou,

We'll be keeping them as is for now. I know a lot of you guys gain a huge amount of value from those private paid sections as well as those marketplace boards.

I'd love to hear about how you think we could improve them.

That's good to know as many of us here gained/learned a lot from knowledge shared by old time Warriors like Kurt and Bryan

Regarding the Marketplace ( my personal experience with - Websites for sale, warriors for hire) inspite of Paul doing a great job , there has been incidents where people break the thread bumping rules . Hopefully this can be improved for benefit of all buyers and sellers.

Well, I think they've been doing great as they are now for years. It's one of those things that if it ain't broke, don't fix it situations. I've seen this in corporate America where a new team comes in and they feel they have to change things for the sake of change, where it doesn't make things better, sometimes a lot worse, and it was fine the way it was. So, I hope it's left alone.

I can only speak to the Complete Sites for Sale section, as that is the section that I advertise in. I saw that forum at the beginning. People were fed up with Flippa and there was a call to add that forum. It has, I think, been a success since it began.

If you wanted to get really fancy without separating it from the WF, which would be a mistake IMO, it would probably be even more popular if you added auction capabilities to it, so that people could bid on sites. We can still do that in a workaround way, so I doubt that it's critical, but consider this:

WF has the traffic, the sellers and the buyers. Flippa has zero competition. Everyone loved Flippa when it was in the forum format on Sitepoint that it had in the beginning. Their format and pricing moves have turned off an enormous amount of people. Even if WF became the #2 place to buy and sell websites, that is huge.

Simple - go with the old saying: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

Don't try to improve something that is already great, just because you feel the need to "mark" your newly acquired territory.

            IMHO

On the pricing.. I just noticed the bump price for WSOs is still @$40.. I doesn't seem consistent with freelancer and other sites practices where most of the times you pay less to re-publish and ad what makes a lot of sense for me..

          Just my 2 cents :-)

Freelancer has acquired many business in recent year and most of them have been merged to their website like limeexchange and rentacoder i guess.

Not that there's anything wrong with making money - Duh! - but I'm a bit nonplussed over the whole thing. OTOH, I will say that I've been commissioning projects on freelancer.com for about five years and that it is a great operation.

        Hi Alaister

True of any business, especially one that's made an investment of this magnitude, you no doubt have a financial forecast for forthcoming years with plans laid to reflect it.

Beyond price adjustments, is there likely to be an announcement soon relating to any significant changes that you intend to implement in accordance with the scope of that forecast?

A "vision" perhaps, or the primary objective of the acquisition?

        Thanks

I also have to say that I totally agree with Arnold on this.

Agreed. The only reason it was raised to $40 was to clean up the poor quality WSO's....and it worked pretty well for the most part. Reducing it to $20 will definitely bring back some sub-par sellers.

    Personally, I'm nervous.

I fear change. (I know, I'm totally in the wrong industry for that, right?)

That said, I know that change is inevitable.

But please, I beseech you, please don't change things just to be changing them. Improve things to make the community better.

Like others have mentioned, dropping the WSO price is most likely not a good move.

I'm also a bit worried with the switch to annual fee for the War Room; but I can totally see the reasoning behind it.

All in all, congrats to Allen, welcome to the Freelancer.com crew, and let's keep making this the best marketing community online!

Speaking for myself as both a buyer and a seller there, I hire from Warriors for Hire out of a desire to help another Warrior, if they have the skills that meet my needs. I also hire people from there who have top reputations on the forum. A relationship is already developed prior to hiring due to past WF communications. It's called building reputation. There's a certain amount of trust already established because we feel we "know" them.

Most of us are aware of the other outsourcing markets available and choose to hire from our community when possible.

As for my experience there being a seller, it was great. As an American provider, I don't care for marketplaces that feel like a third world yard sale. I'm not going to sell my services for peanuts. I had good success selling in Warriors for Hire without competing with the lowball prices of others.

I would like to see some kind of "Team WSO" section developed whereby marketers and workers of different skill sets would have the opportunity to join forces on WSO product creations and be able to share the profits as JV partners.

So instead of the Joint Venture forum, where someone is begging for help or offering to pay for a split, you'd have different marketers and workers with a variety of expertise who would apply to be a part of a team effort to create something outstanding, promote it, support it, etc...the team accomplishing something that each member by himself/herself could not do alone.

Warriors who want to collaborate would have extended profiles, listing their areas of expertise, and you would have project leaders who have a certain degree of credibility as marketers already who would be the "Initiators" of the proposed projects.

These could even be paid-for positions and team proposals.

Too many people here are riding it out alone and going nowhere. It's tough if you have limited funds, because the learning curve to truly get a handle on everything needed to turn a profit is actually very high. Then you have people with particular skills who are great at one or two things, but not good at others, and those weaknesses keep them from getting over the hump to success.

Agreed. The only reason it was raised to $40 was to clean up the poor quality WSO's....and it worked pretty well for the most part. Reducing it to $20 will definitely bring back some sub-par sellers.
On paper it looks good, but it really didn't get rid of the crappy WSO's. If anything, it discouraged the llttle guy from starting their own WSO, and made it easier for the season marketers to have more time on the first page.

You can raise the WSO price to $100 and the cons will always be glad to pay it. The quality of WSO went up, but the results are the same. All the $40 WSO fee did was make the graphics in WSO section prettier

The $40 fee discourages the little guy, who may have a 5 page ebook with methods that works, in favor of guys who can make the WSO as shiny as possible, and basically sell rehashed stuff.

The Warrior Forum should encourage people to come out with their own products, not discourage them.

One way to improve the quality of WSOs is to have some way for WSO buyers to
*RATE THE SELLERs* in a permanent way.

As it is, sellers can just pull up the WSO ATM, grab cash out of it, using crappy,
quasi-FRAUDULENT offers -- then they know they can get away scott free. Then they go into hiding, until the heat blows over -- then they return when the coast is clear, and rinse and repeat -- all the while knowing they will get away with it.

There needs to be a way of RATING the sellers.

I didn't want to comment until I actually had something to base comments on. Just spent some time on the phone with Alaister, and was suitably impressed.

      My thoughts on this...

First, Freelancer has the technical staff and experience to scale up and optimize hardware in ways that could reduce or eliminate a lot of the server and database issues that have caused intermittent access problems for a while. That is, by itself, a huge potential benefit.

His experience in dealing with buyers and sellers through Freelancer translates directly to a lot of the challenges of setting policy and moderating in marketplaces like the for sale sections of this forum. It would be very hard to overstate the value of that.

For the folks who were worried about heavy-handed changes... I don't see that. At all. Despite the occasional mentions of his relatively low post count, he "gets" the culture and standards here.

Some things will almost certainly change, and that's appropriate. New owners can make new rules, after all. I don't see anything in the works, though, that's anything but good for the members.

A couple of reminders... The idea of a ratings system for WSOs still faces the same hard problem it always has: Limiting access to only those people who've actually bought the products they're rating. The forum is still not a party to those transactions, so there is currently no way to verify who bought what product.

Without that capability, any ratings system could be too easily gamed.

Also, the notion that the price of listing a WSO has any impact on quality of offerings is not, and never has been, accurate. That's been discussed to death for as long as the forum has charged for WSO listings, and it's been pretty well demonstrated that it's not a factor.

Some things will probably change, and a lot won't. Be patient with both possibilities.

One question that bothers me a bit:

Is that going to happen here as well?

Yes, I wasn't capable to save $37 in two months, not all of us sales every day a forum for $3.2M. Not all of us have thousands of dollars to spend.

Two weeks ago I've purchased the High Voltage Video Forum Subscription, probably not the smartest move.

Regardless of my capability to save or not $37 in two months there's another issue in my opinion and that is fairness.
Is not fair for one to pay $37 for a lifetime and the other $20 / year.

@cypherslock next time pay more attention, two months not two years and the price went up.

I seriously doubt the WF will turn into a turd just because Allen decided it was time to move on to other things. There's too much value and reputation for Freelanceer.com to want to screw it up. I wish some folks would stop whining. Change is inevitable. And how the heck does it take one two years to save up $37. And now because of the change in management (with I might add a drop in War Room price to $20) you're complaining? wow. I can't wait to see what comes next. There will be some things we all may not agree with (hey new ownership is like that) but I think ultimately, it will be a good thing for the community.

In the West $37 is nothing, in some countries it's a huge amount, hence getting an outsource worker for $2 an hour or a product.

Looking forward to seeing how things go here. Though not keen on the WSO reduction. Congratulations to Allan.

    Congrats Allen!

At that price, the sale has got to be more about freedom than dollars and cents.

That equates to $188,235.29 per year since you opened the WF in 1997, not bad.

As in all changes, I'll wait to see.

      Webmaster-talk.com redirects to freelancer.com
After Scriptlance.com was sold to freelancer.com, a seller requested full payment for a programming job I had, took the money, was allowed to withdraw it and never gave me anything. Now Scriptlance.com also just redirects to freelancer.com.

Warriors for Hire. A really valuable asset to the Warrior Forum. Integrated with Freelancer, not as much. I've built relationships with Warriors and feel confident hiring a lot of them. It has also been a profitable section for me to advertise.

Will it become another Flippa that "commissions" you to death?

I love WF pretty much as it is. It's obviously very successful at what it does. I'm always of the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" type of mindset.

      But anyway ... congrats Allen.

The Good, The Bad, The Ugly

      The good.
Cutting wso cost in half. I'm here because of WSOs. I want to publish WSOs.
This makes me a WSO publisher, I guess. Haven't publish much so far.
But my pipeline looks pretty crowded. And I like to delude myself that not all are crap.
Well, I hate crap. So why would I waste my time publishing it now?
Anyway, the $20 cost cut just doubled my reach, so I'm expressing
my gratitude for that. I'd put this in the "good" basket.

      The bad
Only 3 mil. for this forum? Sounds like a bargain when compared with other deals in the industry
.. if this is truly the biggest fish in the "IM marketing forum" niche.
But then again 3M is a lot of money too, so I guess it's a win-win after all.
Ok, this isn't really a "bad".

      The ugly
I guess this is when WF will reach the 1 mil. users mark.
Probably under new management and stronger team, this is a "target"?
Assuming most newcomers are "newbies", this could get "ugly".
(and how much of those users are "active" and such)
But ugly in a good way: industry newbies have needs which those who've
"been there done that" can help them with. In both "free" and WSO formats.
      So ugly is also good.

Well done, change usually means new opportunity windows opening,
so looking foreword to it, because:
      1. change is inevitable, this industry is the poster boy of "change" after all
      2. embracing the inevitable (i.e. change) is the way to go while
      3. fearing change is a losing proposition: why fear what you can't avoid anyway? Might as well embrace & enjoy it ...

I just recently joined and launched my first WSO last week. Very pleased!

However, I just bumped it and was charged $40 not the stated new price of $20?

Does this mean the old price is still the Bump price if we launched before the merger and the new pricing?

Just hope the warrior for hire doesn't get flooded with (sorry to say) in general low quality workers from freelancer site(s). Allen, a toast to your success and sale. How awesome to build a forum that gets sold for millions of dollars and has the "staying power" that WF has for so long. I would like to say "thank you" for starting this forum.

Without it, I would never have become a marketer. I would have stayed a ghostwriter. I would never have learned as much as I know now or met the wonderful people who helped guide me and became fantastic friends to me.

I also wouldn't have been findable to my own readers - many of who found me participating on the forum and liked what I said (oh and it helped me weed out my non audience too lol).

So I am grateful that you launched it and kept it running and thriving (and put up with me lol). When I got banned for 2 weeks, you even talked to me via message on FB to make sure I was okay and not mad - you're a sweetheart and I wish you nothing but happy days ahead.

Matt, I am so grateful to you guys for lowering the WSO price to $20. I am not one who believes price of listing makes a difference in quality, as most scumbags I know have plenty of cash to fund whatever price point you set. And the $40 was keeping some fledgling newbies hesitant, scared or too broke to be able to list their WSO.

I know some will say they shouldn't list if they can't invest in themselves, believe in themselves, etc. But as newbies, they're often nervous anyway and unsure - and it takes time to cultivate self confidence as a marketer - and test the waters to see if anyone enjoys your creations.

I look forward to seeing the positive changes you implement here. I hope my own journey continues further as it has since I first signed on with WF - it's been such a supportive (even through arguments) place and I'm here daily lurking and learning and sometimes posting.

    Tiff

      Rich,
98% of the IM/MMO WSOs I have purchased are plain "crap."
That is much more a reflection on your judgement than it is on the offers as a whole. And a significant edit to the original comment...

As for the rest, I am on record, publicly and privately, as recommending that all income claims and specific results promises should be forbidden in any ad section here. I'm pretty sure Allen and Co are sick of hearing me on that subject.
So, your commenting on something you admitted know nothing about....
      How so, sir?

      Arnold,
Paul, what would your opinion be on possibly separating the threads...

        Bryan,
I must disagree on your hammer swinging ... it's an open forum, meaning that a person's gold nugget may very well be another person's crap (i.e low-value). I guess his point is that we should try to keep the general level of value in WSOs pretty high. Nothing wrong with that.
Hammer statements have a tendency of making people to stop commenting and shutting up...
Legitimate critiques have always been welcome here.

If you state something as a fact, you need to support it. "98% are" is a statement of fact, not a general opinion. Numbers mean something.

I think telling people they need to support public allegations with actual facts is a responsible way to deal with things. If they can't, I believe there is a reasonable level of accountability in stopping them from making further irresponsible and unproven allegations.

Not sure what "standard" to determine a general level of value could be used. Except for obvious scams, how can you determine a value for a product that people would agree on anyway? One mans trash and all that

And I agree Paul. Facts to support allegations should be required.

Aside all that, Congrats Allen! As a member since 2000, I have thoroughly enjoyed watching WF grow and being a part of such a dynamic community. Looking forward to the future.

I am going to reserve my opinion until I see what happens. My biggest concern is how the "Warriors for Hire" and "Warriors wanting to Hire you" sections will work. If we are inundated with people who are willing to work for next to nothing, I will end up losing a LOT of business as I do get a large percentage of my business from that section right now.

As for the other sections, well, they also remain to be seen, and I will watch with an eager eye to see what develops.
If the forum gains a LARGE volume of new members, it will make it difficult to keep up the conversations with the friends I have found here.

I would suggest that there should perhaps be MORE sections so that the discussions can be more precisely divided.

I also wonder if the reason why the forum has been quiet lately was because of this merger...I don't know if that was a deliberate or accidental thing that happened but there was definitely a much quieter period in the last couple of weeks.
Obviously a lot of people were aware of this merger before it was announced.

    Good luck to all.

From what I've seen in the past few minutes - I hope Freelancer gets any rules changes up quickly in the stickies.

I'm seeing new members posting "I'm from freelancer.com" and then promoting their own profiles in answers in various threads. It's a trickle now - but some buds may need to be nipped quickly if this isn't part of the plan.

Only one thing is certain, in my opinion - change will occur.

You may like what happens here or you may not. You can stay or you can leave.

This forum is the owner's business. Being a member of the forum does not give you rights. You are offered a public platform where you can express an opinion. The rules and policies will be decided and all of us can choose to follow them or not.

I think forum members are hoping that the changes will be mostly positive and helpful; however, until the impact of any changes has time to settle in . . . I think member speculation is simply that and not too productive of our time.

The very best to you all with special thanks to Allen for all the years he has given to this project.

If we are inundated with people who are willing to work for next to nothing, I will end up losing a LOT of business as I do get a large percentage of my business from that section right now.
I am also concerned with this and I can assure you that all well established sellers like us in the Warrior For Hire section is concerned about this as well. We strongly urge the new admin to preserve the Warrior For Hire section as it is, as it's perfect and no change is needed at all in my opinion.

    Congratulations, Allen

I just think that sometimes bigger is not better.

I liked it just the way it was, but that's just me with many things in life.

    Congratulations Allen.

A song comes to my mind....and it goes a little something like this :

    "Well we're movin on up,
    To the east side.
To a deluxe apartment in the sky.
    Movin on up
    To the east side.
We finally got a piece of the pie."

I predict good things happening in the future for all involved.

To all the naysayers about how lowering the price will increase lower quality wso's I think you're mistaken. History is the proof and I think Paul and others can attest.

Additionally, the WSO section is a market place for advertisers. The liability that ensues if the forum screened all adverts for quality is tremendous.

    Besides, quality is subjective.

The forum has done right by not instituting any sort of screening process as to content or quality however, in regards to legality in advertising and offers that teach how to break the terms of service of other businesses is definitely a GOOD thing and a responsible stance by the forum.

I hate change. But I hope things work out for the best. I am looking forward to seeing some good things going down the road.

    I have 2 thoughts:
    1. cutting the price of WSO's could lead to a flood of real garbage.

    2. I think having a lifetime option (as well as the annual) instead of switching from the old 20 year (virtually lifetime) would be better for the new people.

      Long time no see James!

Yes something definitely on the horizon very soon. It DOES NOT have anything to do with forums though :-)

I have been a member here for a much longer period than my join date indicates(had lost track of my previous user details!). For the last decade the Warrior Forum has made more people successful than any other site I know, especially in creating and marketing products, and providing high quality services. It has been a source of livelihood and income for thousands of internet marketers, many of whom have set up flourishing businesses over the years with the knowledge that they gained from the forum. For others it has been a source of inspiration and many have gone on to quit their day jobs after learning how to earn a full-time income from home - something that even today some think is impossible. For yet others, it has been a place to vent frustration and anger, carried over from the stress in their daily lives, in threads where they seem to have disagreed but not too agreeably ;-).

Thank you Allen, for creating a wonderful forum which is here to stay as an established benchmark in the world of forums and as an example of a highly successful community site on the internet. I wish you all the best in all your future endeavors; I am sure that anything you touch will certainly turn into gold!

Thank you Paul, for moderating the forum so well - I firmly believe that it is more important to be effective in a role than just be "popular". And I hope that you will continue to be on here, even after the "handover".

I wish a warm welcome to Matt, Alaister and the Freelancer team that will be associated with the Warrior Forum. I am sure that your experience and success with Freelancer will further enrich the forum and make it even better. I look forward to your stewardship and will be glad to support any good changes that will benefit the forum and its members!
