Rich,
98% of the IM/MMO WSOs I have purchased are plain "crap."
That is much more a reflection on your judgement than it is on the offers as a whole. And a significant edit to the original comment...

As for the rest, I am on record, publicly and privately, as recommending that all income claims and specific results promises should be forbidden in any ad section here. I'm pretty sure Allen and Co are sick of hearing me on that subject.
So, your commenting on something you admitted know nothing about....
How so, sir?

Arnold,
Paul, what would your opinion be on possibly separating the threads...
I'm not sure how you'd go about that. Suggestions?

We will be allocating substantial resources to further grow Warrior Forum! We will be dedicating engineers to build features and customer experience specialists to interact with the community in order to understand intimately what you like. They’ll be working closely with the moderators moving forward.

The most important thing, however, is that we listen to you- the community. We’ll be going through the suggestions section and would love to hear more about your ideas and feedback. I am really keen to hear from you!

Also please feel free to email me at matt@freelancer.com with any suggestions, ideas, and thoughts or just to touch base and introduce yourself.

Effective immediately we are making a few permanent improvements to pricing:
* All WSO listings will now be reduced from $40 to $20
* All current War Room members will have their 20 year membership extended to lifetime, immediately. Moving forward new memberships will be $20 per year.

Thank you for your support of Warrior Forum in the past and I look forward to working with you to take Warrior Forum to the next phase!

How about giving a grace period for forum members to join The War Room under the old terms?

Congratulations, and i hope that the $20 drop is better for the quality of the WSO's that are posting in there. I cross my fingers for that, but for the rest : GREAT!

Bryan,
I must disagree on your hammer swinging ... it's an open forum, meaning that a person's gold nugget may very well be another person's crap (i.e low-value). I guess his point is that we should try to keep the general level of value in WSOs pretty high. Nothing wrong with that.
Hammer statements have a tendency of making people to stop commenting and shutting up...
Legitimate critiques have always been welcome here.

If you state something as a fact, you need to support it. "98% are" is a statement of fact, not a general opinion. Numbers mean something.

I think telling people they need to support public allegations with actual facts is a responsible way to deal with things. If they can't, I believe there is a reasonable level of accountability in stopping them from making further irresponsible and unproven allegations.

Congratulations to Allen and the team that brought him this far...quite an achievement.

Freelancer's technical staff and experience at optimizing hardware should be invaluable.

Reducing/eliminating the server and database issues that have caused access problems would be a welcome change. From all indications, this change should be a net plus for everyone.

Maybe a simple "choose category" could work when placing a WSO. (Providing that new categories are created).

Arnold Stolting - Stolting Media Group
"I LOVE The Song! The Vibe Is Positive And Firm!" - Kymani Marley. (Son of Bob Marley).

"Very High Quality!" Jeremy Harding - Manager / Producer. Sean Paul.
"They Are FANTASTIC!" - Willie Crawford.

Paul
Not sure what "standard" to determine a general level of value could be used. Except for obvious scams, how can you determine a value for a product that people would agree on anyway? One mans trash and all that

And I agree Paul. Facts to support allegations should be required.

Aside all that, Congrats Allen! As a member since 2000, I have thoroughly enjoyed watching WF grow and being a part of such a dynamic community. Looking forward to the future.

I am going to reserve my opinion until I see what happens. My biggest concern is how the "Warriors for Hire" and "Warriors wanting to Hire you" sections will work. If we are inundated with people who are willing to work for next to nothing, I will end up losing a LOT of business as I do get a large percentage of my business from that section right now.

As for the other sections, well, they also remain to be seen, and I will watch with an eager eye to see what develops.
If the forum gains a LARGE volume of new members, it will make it difficult to keep up the conversations with the friends I have found here.

I would suggest that there should perhaps be MORE sections so that the discussions can be more precisely divided.

I also wonder if the reason why the forum has been quiet lately was because of this merger...I don't know if that was a deliberate or accidental thing that happened but there was definitely a much quieter period in the last couple of weeks.
Obviously a lot of people were aware of this merger before it was announced.

Good luck to all.

Cheers, Laurence.

Congratulations Allen.

A song comes to my mind....and it goes a little something like this :

"Well we're movin on up,
To the east side.
To a deluxe apartment in the sky.
Movin on up
To the east side.
We finally got a piece of the pie."

I predict good things happening in the future for all involved.

Congrats Allen and to Matt as well!

I've been a member since 2006 and have loved every minute - except for that one time during my WSO launch that the Forum went down

Seriously though, I hope this becomes a match made in heaven and the WF will become an even greater knowledge base for all.

Thank you for everything Allen.

Thing is I don't think we even need to argue about this. its an issue that will sort itself out due to the fact businesses do not pay millions of dollars (much much lower a price than I would have ever imagined though) for legal headaches. That and the present ownership has another existing business and interest that will guide certain decisions beyond WSO income. So let it play out my man. Read between the lines (and some not even between). This was an acquisition for synergy not WSO fee income and as such you will probably in time see those issues you bring up addressed.

I've raised concern over this too as you may have noted. I echo your opinion in holding reservation in this regard.

I can only hope that Warriors for Hire will remain and I hope it will remain as an exclusive entity without any undue diversions to Freelancer.com - above all, any form of crowdsourcing.

To all the naysayers about how lowering the price will increase lower quality wso's I think you're mistaken. History is the proof and I think Paul and others can attest.

Additionally, the WSO section is a market place for advertisers. The liability that ensues if the forum screened all adverts for quality is tremendous.

Besides, quality is subjective.

The forum has done right by not instituting any sort of screening process as to content or quality however, in regards to legality in advertising and offers that teach how to break the terms of service of other businesses is definitely a GOOD thing and a responsible stance by the forum.

I hate change. But I hope things work out for the best. I am looking forward to seeing some good things going down the road.

I have 2 thoughts:
  1. cutting the price of WSO's could lead to a flood of real garbage.

  2. I think having a lifetime option (as well as the annual) instead of switching from the old 20 year (virtually lifetime) would be better for the new people.

From what I've seen in the past few minutes - I hope Freelancer gets any rules changes up quickly in the stickies.

I'm seeing new members posting "I'm from freelancer.com" and then promoting their own profiles in answers in various threads. It's a trickle now - but some buds may need to be nipped quickly if this isn't part of the plan.

Allen has provided us with a great platform for years. The least we can do is support the transition and help make it as easy as possible. In the end, nothing has changed for those who post here. If we like it, we stay - if we don't, we know where the door is.

Yeah that's a big turnoff if that continues. It will turn conversation into nothing but self promotional ads in the replies. NOT GOOD!

Warrior Forum has been my inspiration since I joined in 2002 and later on enabled me to leave my day job and start my own company.

Anything you are up to Allen, I'm sure will be simple yet brilliant as always.

Regarding the future of the Warrior Forum . . .

Only one thing is certain, in my opinion - change will occur.

You may like what happens here or you may not. You can stay or you can leave.

This forum is the owner's business. Being a member of the forum does not give you rights. You are offered a public platform where you can express an opinion. The rules and policies will be decided and all of us can choose to follow them or not.

I think forum members are hoping that the changes will be mostly positive and helpful; however, until the impact of any changes has time to settle in . . . I think member speculation is simply that and not too productive of our time.

The very best to you all with special thanks to Allen for all the years he has given to this project.

Steve

I have been a member here for a much longer period than my join date indicates(had lost track of my previous user details!). For the last decade the Warrior Forum has made more people successful than any other site I know, especially in creating and marketing products, and providing high quality services. It has been a source of livelihood and income for thousands of internet marketers, many of whom have set up flourishing businesses over the years with the knowledge that they gained from the forum. For others it has been a source of inspiration and many have gone on to quit their day jobs after learning how to earn a full-time income from home - something that even today some think is impossible. For yet others, it has been a place to vent frustration and anger, carried over from the stress in their daily lives, in threads where they seem to have disagreed but not too agreeably ;-).

Thank you Allen, for creating a wonderful forum which is here to stay as an established benchmark in the world of forums and as an example of a highly successful community site on the internet. I wish you all the best in all your future endeavors; I am sure that anything you touch will certainly turn into gold!

Thank you Paul, for moderating the forum so well - I firmly believe that it is more important to be effective in a role than just be "popular". And I hope that you will continue to be on here, even after the "handover".

I wish a warm welcome to Matt, Alaister and the Freelancer team that will be associated with the Warrior Forum. I am sure that your experience and success with Freelancer will further enrich the forum and make it even better. I look forward to your stewardship and will be glad to support any good changes that will benefit the forum and its members!

Those are great news guys!

On the pricing.. I just noticed the bump price for WSOs is still @$40.. I doesn't seem consistent with freelancer and other sites practices where most of the times you pay less to re-publish and ad what makes a lot of sense for me..

Just my 2 cents :-)

I think Allen cares enough about this community and it's users to just pass of the business to any one who doesn't share the same vision.

To me it sounds like a great offer came but that Allen simply could not refuse.... well like someone else said in a comment "great exit strategy"

Anway it is what it is, and everyone is entitled to their own opinions and choices.

Good luck will be interesting to see what happens in the next 12-24 months.

A company buys this forum for $3.2 million and what is the CEO greeted with? A bunch of whining, bitching, and complaining.

It's freaking embarrassing to watch.

Congrats Allen on the sale. There's many of us that have profited immensely from what you've built.

With change comes new opportunity.

CONGRATS!!!

To provide value to everyone.

All WSO sellers should be required to use their real name.

Anything that can be improved on ratings and vetting the claims would add tremendous value both to the forum, buyers, AND legit sellers.

In a moment of decision the best thing you can do is the right thing. The worst thing you can do is nothing. ~ Theodore Roosevelt

I am of a similar opinion.

It seems a lot of people have put all their eggs in the same WF basket. Not the fault of Allen at all.

I also want to give my vote of support for the moderators, who people seem to think it's alright to unload on now.

Maybe we should just let it be a free for all?

I intend to see if I can be one of the people who will make a fortune from this rukus!! (;
