Andre is QUITE correct...what's in the War Room is information I paid Allen $30 a MONTH for...as well as $10 for the "herds" membership ... and probably some other things along the way...

Not to mention having to buy a product to get access to the WarriorForum in the first place.

And that's just a bare scraping of all the resources available within the WarRoom...many, many valuable resources which have been contributed by Warriors over the years ... many which have gone on to be sold...all for the price of a not-too-expensive WSO ?

It's SERIOUSLY worth the price. Much MORE than the price. There is SO much gold in there ...

...to quibble about $20/yr ... as people have pointed out ... it's worth more, MUCH more, than that...I'd get it before they decide to raise it to $20/mo.

(and that STILL would be a bargain.)

Live JoyFully!

Judy

I wonder how things will shape up. This is an interesting development. I just hope that things don't change too drastically here as we all are used to how WF works and has been working from many years now. Experimenting, introducing new things is fine but my suggestion would be not to be too aggressive as that can put a lot of people off here and it is the Warriors who make the community what it is.

Alastair - Will the "member moderation" format still be in place or will that be changed?

I'd expect more spam at the beginning as idjits online test the waters to see if tolerance levels for spam here has changed.

Are you kidding me, i prefer to pay 37$ for 20 Years, and not paying 20$ for a single year.
Apparently not - as you didn't buy War Room access in the 8-9 months since you joined. That's fine - you don't have to buy it and it's not necessary to have that membership for you to learn marketing on this forum.

Instead of focusing on finding negatives - look at the opportunities and improvements that may result from this change. Uptime - a potential payment system - lots of good stuff has been proposed.

Congratulations Alan! You had the foresight to start this forum, not to mention MANY successful careers, back when the I.M. niche was in it's infancy! You earned it and deserve it! :-)

It's sad to see how many people have an "entitlement attitude" and the nerve to cry about a $20 fee, the service this forum provides is worth FAR more than $20 or even $40 for that matter!

I personally don't think the deal you made was JUST for the money, I think it was a well thought out move toward a better future for the forum and it's future. I'm looking forward to what it become and reflecting on the awesomeness that it always was.

Thanks Alan, MANY people owe their success to you and this forum and I wish you the best :-)

The $37 fee was for lifetime membership in War Room. That has been discontinued and has been replaced with $20/yr War Room membership.

The $37 is the old fee. It no longer applies. The price to join is $20 per year now, and it's well worth it.

Guys, just curious: any idea why Allen went with a "war" analogy in the forum branding:
... war room, warrior forum, warrior hot sauce ...
was "war" such a hot topic in 1997 ? (I can't recall, but then memory might be failing)
What has "war" have to do with IM ? Besides the usual borrowings
of traditional marketing ("campaign" and similar military terms),
I don't quite see an obvious connection... hope this isn't going off-topic too much

Bryan,

It was originally "The Warriors of Internet Marketing." The idea was to create a place where people talked about proactive marketing tactics, as opposed to the rather weak way most people went about selling online back then.

It expanded from there.

Jeez, honestly that is pretty cheap. Paying such a small amount to get something decent back in return, in regards to premium content is hardly going to break the bank, frankly, if you cant afford such a small amount each year I would suggest you start to consider other options. You have to invest a little to make a lot back, trust me.

Hi Alaister

True of any business, especially one that's made an investment of this magnitude, you no doubt have a financial forecast for forthcoming years with plans laid to reflect it.

Beyond price adjustments, is there likely to be an announcement soon relating to any significant changes that you intend to implement in accordance with the scope of that forecast?

A "vision" perhaps, or the primary objective of the acquisition?

Thanks
Daniel

When it started out it was a product and a group called "The Warriors of Internet Marketing" (the first product I've bought on Internet in 1998) and at that time you had access to a Marketing Forum, not this edition though the formula was a bit different, and you also received a package of Internet Marketing related knowledge and tools. If I remember correctly it was $37.00 and it was worth every penny of it. As a reminder, you see a LOT of Internet Marketing practices today, that are still in force, that were initiated by Allen Says and the knowledge he shared in this package.

My two cents

Andre Foisy

Splorf. Come on Paul. The real story is much more interesting than this vague, generic, revisionistic glop that is only sort of true depending on how wants to view things.

Did you used to be politics?

Congrats, Allen! This is awesome news and very inspiring too! Not that I'd ever plan on doing something on as grand a scale, but still. What a success story!

I'm also happy about the reduced fee for the WSO's - it will definitely make it easier for the "little guys" to offer their products and get started, like Tiff said below:

Originally Posted by TiffanyLambert View Post

Without it, I would never have become a marketer. I would have stayed a ghostwriter. I would never have learned as much as I know now or met the wonderful people who helped guide me and became fantastic friends to me.

I also wouldn't have been findable to my own readers - many of who found me participating on the forum and liked what I said (oh and it helped me weed out my non audience too lol).

So I am grateful that you launched it and kept it running and thriving (and put up with me lol). When I got banned for 2 weeks, you even talked to me via message on FB to make sure I was okay and not mad - you're a sweetheart and I wish you nothing but happy days ahead.

Matt, I am so grateful to you guys for lowering the WSO price to $20. I am not one who believes price of listing makes a difference in quality, as most scumbags I know have plenty of cash to fund whatever price point you set. And the $40 was keeping some fledgling newbies hesitant, scared or too broke to be able to list their WSO.

I know some will say they shouldn't list if they can't invest in themselves, believe in themselves, etc. But as newbies, they're often nervous anyway and unsure - and it takes time to cultivate self confidence as a marketer - and test the waters to see if anyone enjoys your creations.

I look forward to seeing the positive changes you implement here. I hope my own journey continues further as it has since I first signed on with WF - it's been such a supportive (even through arguments) place and I'm here daily lurking and learning and sometimes posting.

Tiff
Thanks for your great comment, Tiff, and for sharing how the WF has helped you with your business. I too got my start on the Warrior Forum, and I'm excited about the new possibilities...

Complaints like this might have more meaning if they were made by actual new members and not those who have been here for close to a year (or longer) without bothering to upgrade.

$20 per year amounts to $1.67 per month. If someone can't earn that with what they learn in the rest of the forum, then they're not ready for the War Room anyway.

I'm curious as to what will happen to our other private forums subscriptions such as the Warrior Book Club (Kindle publishing) forum, for instance?

It's a great day and it's a great decision. Hearty congratulation to Allen & Matt. When two giants combine for the benefit of internet community in general and members of both freelancer.com and warrior forum in particular, the outcome will be outstanding. We all look forward for a much more beneficial period to all concerned.

Hey Allen,

Thanks for the update and great news.

The WF has always been one of those places that has acted as a platform for the entire spectrum on IM knowledge and experience.

I've made a LOT of great friends here and personally met several hundred of this forums members over the years, so I'm really happy to hear that there is now even more resource than ever dedicated to continuing to move things forward.

For the new guys from Freelancer.com who are looking for our input - The thing that stood out about the WF when it started (when we used to have to pay to be a member) was the quality of the information and the WSO section.

Over the years as the forum has grown that quality has not gone away, but the noise level around it has massively increased to the point where many new members struggle to differentiate between the uneducated ramblings of a troll and the wise words of a really successful member.

We have an abundance of members who are keen to be the voice of "how you should get started" and the WSO section is now just a marketplace where almost anything can be offered.

My one humble request moving forward is that you talk to Allen about what used to make great information and genuinely great offers of high quality members products stand out, and keep in mind how to let the gold shine through the noise, so that as you get more new members they have some way to calm the noise and find a safe haven of pure good advice that is offered from a genuine place and not driven by a sales process.

We're all looking to continue our success and share with others, but I've seen many good people reduce the frequency of their visits because of the presence of trolls and the effort required to make good information visible in the massive flow of posts.

I wish you all the best in your efforts and would like to thank Allen once more for the amazing way he has looked after the forum over the years, and the members for the way in which they have supported each other.

I can only speak to the Complete Sites for Sale section, as that is the section that I advertise in. I saw that forum at the beginning. People were fed up with Flippa and there was a call to add that forum. It has, I think, been a success since it began.

If you wanted to get really fancy without separating it from the WF, which would be a mistake IMO, it would probably be even more popular if you added auction capabilities to it, so that people could bid on sites. We can still do that in a workaround way, so I doubt that it's critical, but consider this:

WF has the traffic, the sellers and the buyers. Flippa has zero competition. Everyone loved Flippa when it was in the forum format on Sitepoint that it had in the beginning. Their format and pricing moves have turned off an enormous amount of people. Even if WF became the #2 place to buy and sell websites, that is huge.

Hi Mou,

Simple - go with the old saying: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

Don't try to improve something that is already great, just because you feel the need to "mark" your newly acquired territory.

IMHO

I could not agree with you more Andy.

When I first arrived which as back in 2003, (I did not have an account) I was running a successful insurance restoration company.

I bought several products from here and learned a lot but you're right in what you say in regards to the WSO section.

One thing I've just experienced:

If you're a WSO creator and you're responding to questions via PM - having to wait 2 minutes between each response is a bit.... much?

I understand the need when members are simply communicating with members but the support thingee.... 'twould be nice to bash out the answers one after another.
