New WSO Rules

Hi everyone,

We are currently on the process of updating the rules for the WSO section. We have implemented two changes that are effective as of today. We are still going through and working on a whole new set of rules.

Here are the two changes:

1) WSO sellers no longer need to be part of the War Room - We have decided to remove the restriction on the WSO section where all sellers had to have access to War Room. We have done this in order to drive more activity in the WSO section and help you everyone launch their products. We have also increased the team we have approving WSOs to ensure the quality is maintained and kept at a high level. We have kept the $20 listing fee.

2) You can promote your affiliate programs in your WSO threads - I want to help you guys make more sales and support your launches to be as successful as possible. You are now allowed to place a link at the bottom of your WSO to get more affiliates to sign up and promote that particular WSO. Please note: It must be a link people can use to promote your WSO in that post.

Affiliate programs on their own still belong in the Affiliate Program Database.

Me likey. I most likely won't put any affiliate program links in the threads but at least the option is there.

Re: New WSO Rules

I believe 2 years ago or so, it was encouraged to list one's affiliate program in the WSO threads. I know I had that as a step to my first WSO Creation guide.

Then there were discussions about Paypal taking a dim view (ie, must be MLM etc.), especially if you offered 100% commission. So the rules were changed so that affiliate programs could not be listed.

http://www.warriorforum.com/warrior-...ml#post5390224

is an example of what I'd include in my WSOs 'way back when.

So this will be allowed once again?

Hi Barbara,

Yes this is allowed on the forum now.
It is still everyone's responsibility to ensure they comply with all their choice of payment processor's tos.

Thanks Alaister! #2 will make it easier for affiliates to find our affiliate page.
They won't have to jump through hoops to find it. It's a win-win change.
Jumping through hoops =

This may make me unpopular, but I think this second change is ill advised.

Is the new management even familiar with the reasons that affiliate promotion was removed from the WSO section a year or so ago?

I know that this will make it a little easier for newbie affiliates - but how difficult is it to mouse over a buy button to see what affiliate program is being used?

...and the last part of that statement needs clarification, as an affiliate sign up link would be needed (rather than a "link people can use to promote your WSO").

Re: New WSO Rules

Some good, some bad in this.

I think there were concerns from Paypal about in-thread affiliate promotion. I, for one, will think very carefully before recruiting for affiliates in a high profile manner. Perhaps this should be restricted to a text link in a small point size,

The War Room membership at least showed that a WSO vendor had to have a bit of commitment to the platform, so I kind of liked that.

On another related note, it would be interesting to know how the WSO forum could benefit from more organic (non-affiliate) traffic as it did in the days before W+ etc.

In those days, it was worth bumping a WSO to get the extra boost of sales...now bumping is a complete waste of time (according to all of my tests, at least). I don't know what the answer is apart from making a 2 tier system - Free WSO or Paypal buttons $20. WSO with any affiliate platform buttons $80, for example.

That's my recollection, as well, Barry...

It was very easy for Paypal to interpret the affiliate sign up links as promotion of a biz-op. This potentially put the merchant's Paypal account in jeopardy. I advise my customers to keep affiliate recruitment and sales advertising separated into two totally separate and distinct business functions.

While I didn't object to this change in my previous post... I actually prefer the requirement for War Room membership, as well.

It's a "one-off" front end cost that anyone serious about promoting quality offers should have no problems with, and I believe the requirement helps (to some degree) with reducing some of the "junkier" WSO offers.

I'm confused about free WSOs - are they still allowed or not? If not, how do you stop someone from uploading a paid for WSO with a 100% money off coupon?

Re: New WSO Rules

Changes can be good and they can be bad. I have stood back and watched to see how changes are affecting the "new warrior forum". Still not sure.

But I am a old fart and changes do not come as easy as they use to, lol.

I wish to thank all of the old mods who were put out to pasture! It has been a fun ride.

Had account way, way back and cancelled it due to changes. Decided to come back later on...

Will continue to roam the WF pages and wish the new owners much success. Time will tell if the community is worthy of old timer participation.

UPDATE: I am now convinced that the new owners have done an outstanding job at improving the WF. I have seen a very big improvement in WSO quality and not near as many fly-by-night offers!

Great job!
