Clickbank sellers - let's talk numbers

Hi folks,

What sort of % conversion rate do YOU think a Clickbank product should hit before you would approach affiliates / seek JVs etc?

I put my latest CB product up recently. Haven't run traffic yet and haven't split tested the sales page, headlines or anything - but have already had 6 sales from 242 total pageviews! That's a conversion of 2.48% and noticeably better than other products have done "out the gate" - and that's pre-optimization and with no bonuses.

I think part of the reason for this was a lower initial product price but time (and split testing!) will tell. Looking back at my copy, I think I may have nailed a few things first time, but again, we'll see.

Affiliate $ / sale is $5.70, so by my reckoning, if your traffic is of equivalent quality to the scattering of fairly random traffic that has hit this page, earnings-per-click is at 14 cents.

I'd love some comments on this if anyone would like to chime in. I want to make sure people can make money promoting this product before I roll out. What kind of numbers should I reach before YOU would take this product on?

Alex.

Surprised no-one jumped on this one so I'm giving it one more chance. Don't tell me that no-one in here knows how to interpret these stats.

The conversion rate does sound good, and like you say - above the numbers of most. However, I think this is because it is a cheap product. I think with only $6 commission you might struggle to attract quality / bigger affiliates.. I would possibly suggest increasing the price of your product (lowering conversions, but perhaps you have a little to work with? but increasing the attractiveness for affiliates), or adding some sort of upsell in the backend (thereby generating more $ per signup for affiliates) ?

Hi there... you might have a point, higher ticket products do sound attractive and increased revenue per sale is always good - but do you agree that any affiliate who really knows their stuff is going to look at earnings-per-click as the ultimate metric? Anyone else have any EPC stats for CB products?

Agree with Dan in this situation. Raise the product price, also throw in some up/down sales products on the back end to entice bigger affiliates to create huge traffic. Especially if the conversion is well.

Well, I'm new to this forum (but not IM) and trying to get active and contribute so I'll chime in here. On the best selling CB product I promote I averaged $1.68 per click before upsells over the last 6 months and my worst product is $0.47 per click. I myself will not promote anything that pays affiliates less than $25, especially with the new risk management system in place I will not risk a refund promoting a product that only pays a few dollars.

    Hi All,

As far as conversion rates that all depends on the product, how fresh it is, and the pricing, bonuses and upsells and the comission percentage.

Some Clickbank sellers are going to 75% to get affiliates to mail to their list.

There is a big difference between 50% and 75% especially with PPC costs continuing to go up.

Most of the vendors have some way to collect optins and they are counting on the back end sales and not the front end sales... So that's why they can afford to offer most of the commission to affiliates up front.

If you have not done something like an EXIT SPLASH page to collect optins you want to do that to be able to market on the back end of your offers and build your list.

Most affiliates do NOT like an optin on the sales page, as they feel that steals their visitor they sent to the sales page.

So one way around that is to put a simple link on the bottom of the main sales letter page that links to another page with an optin on it which is not so visible but still gets the job done. (This page of course would link to a free report, or free graphic or something that relates to the main product you are selling. Then you can remarket to them once they are on your list.)

You might want to invest in exit splash type of software to snag optins which is what I use. (No, I am not promoting it here nor am I am affiliate either as there are many different ways to force an optin.)

    On your conversion rate questions:

Conversion rates below $1.50 EPC (Earnings Per Click) most of my JV partners will not mail for, so that means I have to get the conversion rate up higher than that on testing sales letters and designs in order for them to pass conversion rate test so JV partners will mail to their list.

WSOs convert a heck of a lot higher, but Warriors are a targeted, captive audience and so the conversion rates are much higher than normal conversion rates outside of this forum.

For Clickbank you want to try to get the conversion rate much higher, in the 3 to 4% range and with a price more in the $27 or so range (add some bonuses) so affiliates can make a decent buck and your gravity and popularity ratings go up.

Lower cost products are an easier sell so of course you would want to double or triple that conversion rate for them to mail for a cheaper offer of less than $27, like $17 or $7.

Clickbank is trying to reduce the dead weight on their servers as they have with tens of thousands of old products that are not selling. That's part of the reason they instigated the 'new refund/return/ranking reduction policy' and to reduce charge backs which cost them a ton of money in processing costs with their support desk.

This refund/return penalty is suspended for a short time now, but I am sure Clickbank will reinstigate it (they said they were just testing it before...to see the response!) but I'm sure it will be back when they get the bugs out of it.

There are many ways to find great Clickbank products to promote and you don't always just want to search by highest gravity and popularity either. There are many diamonds in the rough which will make considerable commissions for affiliates if you know where to look.

    I hope this helped you.

    Good luck boosting your conversions.
