Managing A 1 Million Subscriber List

i have a email list of approximately 1 million people who are loyal followers of mine, and i want to find an effective and inexpensive way to contact them. i find that sending a news letter to a list that big is just way too expensive with services like icontact or aweber. anyone know of good and inexpensive alternatives? thanks!

Something tells me those leads were bought or somehow acquired in bulk. If someone had the skill to acquire a million subscribers, they would've subscribed to an autoresponder service like Aweber long ago and would be making ridiculous amounts of cash in any niche.

Also, could you please explain what you mean by "loyal followers of mine"?

How did you get the list. To get a list up to this, that means you must have been using an autoresponder. As you have said 1200 is not bad with Aweber. With your 1million list you could have been making lots of cash every month that would have covered this cost.

I actually never used any of the email lists companies like Aweber. I used software installed on my websites and gotten the email from people who wanted to sing up for my health newsletter. The problem with this software is that it takes forever to email the newsletter to a large number of people because you must break them down into small groups.

    I agree with Etutor Above

Host Gator Server account for Bandwidth and set up php mail script you can get someone on here one of techie boards for less than a $100. Now if you get complaints you have to keep your IP addresses cleaned up that can be time consuming. With 1 million email you will have complaints I guarantee.

Thanks for all the help guys.

Has anyone ever tried this software:
Bulk Mailer | Email Sender | Fast Mail Software
It sounds really good and I am thinking of buying it. From what I been reading about it, it seems like it would be a very effective and economical way to keep in touch with my large list.

With in the next 2 years I will be releasing a lot of different fitness products like my online fitness e-book(www.absiq.com), a physical diet book which will be published and sold at all major book stores in North America and UK, and a new home workout DVD so I am trying find the best ways to utilize my list to drive massive sales of all my fitness products.

    Thanks!!!

Yes that product works! I have a product similar to it. Just make sure your the program can act as its own mail server.

Find a company that offers email list hosting using Lyris software. Lyris is geared to handle large lists like this. With a list your size, they may need to put you on a dedicated server. Yes, it will cost, but you get what you pay for, and proper hosting for one's list, especially of this size, is nothing to go the bargain basement route with.

Do not have enough posts to start a thread, figured I would post here.

I am currently managing the launch of a product. While trying to recruit a friend of mine as a JV, he did not have time to promote, instead sent me a zip file containing over a million email address's.

Not sure if there is anything I can do with this. Not sure how he got it, dont believe it is an opt-in list.

Looking for advice on this. The list of emails pertains to the niche I am going after.

    Any suggestions are appreciated.

    Thanks,

    -C

Hey C, that's GREAT if you're ready to start your new career as a spammer. Of course, there ARE laws against it, so your new profession could be short lived.

Seriously, why would you think it could possibly be okay to email to addresses that did not optin to receive it?

You're welcome, but I think YOU'RE being sarcastic now. I could have flatly said, "That would be a stupid idea", but I thought my original reply was more entertaining. Regardless, it WOULD be spamming.

    Bogumil,

I'm curious. If you are indeed mailing to that many people (even slowly), how is it that you have not accumulated enough to cover the start-up cost with a company like AWeber?

I do understand the desire not to move a list to AWeber, because it forces the subscribers to re-opt-in. I believe iContact allows you to move lists in without re-opting in. However, I don't believe they are very cheap, and they will ask questions, but as long as you obtained these subscribers using legal, white-hat methods, you should have no problem with those.

In any case, I'd say they are a good bet. Another would be List Marketer, but they're expensive as well.

You'll get what you pay for.

I have experience with iContact and a large list (600K+) if they have not heard from you in awhile you will get spam complaints. iContact will work with you to resolve those, you will need to fill out a form with IP they signed up from, time date etc... if your original system did have all that info you would be fine going with iContact. (You will be paying each time
you mail, but as someone else noted, you should be making enough on each mailing to more than cover the cost of the mailing.)

I have looked at other dedicated mailers in the $5K plus per month that take care of all the list cleaning and keeping on the white side.

You may want to try the dedicated mailer of your own for a short time to get the cashflow going then switch over to one that handles all the cleanup etc... later.

      Good luck,

      Rick

    Dude,

Start marketing to 50K to 100K of your list. Get some funds together from that and then GO TO ALL 1,000,000. At least ramp up to that. If they are really "buyers," you have a GOLDMINE!!

If this is a genuine posting and all information is correct, then
Bogumil should be aiming to generate at least $1 per month off
    every subscriber.

This means that, if legit, then they should be making...

    ...wait for it...

    ONE MILLION DOLLARS PER MONTH!

I don't mean to be rude but if you getting 1mil of subscribers, £1200 is a great investment as like a few members have said you should be able to convert them figures into some serious cash

with that many subscribers, you will get attrition when you ask them to re-opt in again with a new service.

However, how good are these leads with your software? did they opt in to begin with, is it easy for them to opt out, are many of the emails active, is your email not being seen as they're hitting spam filters?

I had similar problems until I went with aweber. I used software to email out.

They have newsletter management scripts you can buy which will slowly email everything, to not set off spam filters...although a lot of it still does get flagged as spam
