Thanks for the over the top thread title. It woke me up and got my interest, which is what titles are supposed to do. This just confirms the fact that good titles get results....good job

Thank you Paul. It's like playing a game. Most people will pass the tutorial part and in this case: the rules. I suppose you will have to bump this thread very often.

    Matt,

Not to worry. A few of them are getting spotted and nuked.

You should hear some of the complaining.

lol. Why don't they just get the point? I find it quite relieving even for the times when the new rules include something I've done before. If it's causing problems for other people, then problems for you are just getting more likely. I'd rather go with what works, and what people like.

I think warriors with a certain amount of posts should be allowed to ask for investment. For example: If you ask for investment, you need to have at least 300 400 500 posts, or something like that. I think what we're doing is to get rid of scammers, not to block people from looking for fund to complete their projects. If you want to ask for money from a stranger, prove your trust-worthiness first. Warriors with a decent amount of posts are not likely to be scammers. Just my 2 cents

      Stephen,

There's certainly some logic to that. The challenge is that instituting such a policy just provides incentive for people to find a way around it. In this case, buying old accounts, or paying some outsourcer to run up your post count.

Then, when people believe the post count matters, they're likely to be LESS careful about dealing with anyone with the established number.

That's how it's worked for the whole time I've been a member here. There are always going to be people who will turn a protective rule into a means for abuse.

I think if you want to ask for an investment, from a complete stranger, then you should make a sales page and state your case on the classified forum or elsewhere. That's what all of us who want to "sell" something here on the forum have to do. I think it's very dangerous to make any arrangement with any stranger here on the forum and just hand over money. I've had things go wrong that in the past, and here right on the jv forum.

There are certain safeguards you can put into place to try and make it more difficult for someone to run off with your money like an escrow service. But lots and lots of people were taking advantage of the fact that it's free to post on the jv forum AND bump, so if they put up an attractive message, they could be seen by hundreds of people daily and get hundreds of potential leads for whatever they were doing. Now with ads having to be approved, it's better. I even wouldn't mind seeing it turn into a paid forum, and NOT having the posts bump with every post.
