Tip #1. To get people to sign up for your list you have to offer a good gift - something that people will actually want.

Tip #2. Make sure that your webpage is ready, your gift is uploaded and the signup process works before the doors open. Most contributors should start promoting in the first few hours of the Give Away event.

Tip #3. Have an upsell that people will see immediately when they sign up for your gift. You can have the upsell on the same page as the download link for the free gift. I find that a low priced upsell works best ($5 to $15).

Tip #4. Send them the link to the download/upsell page in an email, even if your autoresponder already sent them there. You let them know that you are interested in making sure they received their free gift and they have another chance to buy your upsell.

Tip #5. Follow up with more emails in your autoresponder, giving them either useful information or free bonus gifts.

Tip #6. Then you can begin to promote your main products or your affiliate products. You are using the free gift to attract people who will be interested in your later promotions, so choose your free gift carefully and over deliver.

Tip #7. Keep promoting the giveaway. Most JV software rates your gift by the amount of traffic you send. More traffic will increase your points and your gift is displayed higher on the page.

Tip #8. Keep a close watch on what is happening in any JV that you enter. Is your free gift getting as many signups as others on the same page? Is your upsell converting? Are your subscribers staying on your list? You can always tweak your sales page to increase the conversion rate. A little work can increase the size of your list.
