I'm too Smart to be BROKE! Let's JV Before I do Something Drastic

Like get a J*O*B*!

Man, I've done CPA, authority sites, direct mail, MFA, affiliate sites, you name it, and nothing's working... I'm currently still designing sites for SMB's but offshore competition makes it extremely challenging to make a living.

Meanwhile, the wifey is looking to me to get some money rolling in because her job is surely going to kill her.

I'm college educated, intelligent and savvy, and would make a great partner for someone who could provide funding, direction, mentoring, what have you.

I started a contracting business (with nothing) and my sales rate hovered around 90%. I sold the biz and the new owner's rate is more like 50%. I'm entirely self taught in sales and marketing but that learning process started when I was out hustling trinkets in the French Market in New Orleans, at the ripe old age of 7.

I've always been confident in my own abilities but that confidence is flagging. I haven't had a "job" in almost a decade but it's looking like I might be headed in that direction. HELP!

I know marketing inside and out, I'm quite savvy with SEO, can bang out a WP site in a matter of minutes and flesh it out with killer copy in a few hours. I'm packed to the gills with ideas but haven't got a dime to make them happen.

What can we do together? I'm available. Unless, that is, I'm forced to resort to flipping burgers...

Thanks for your attention to my post, everyone. I've gotten a bunch of PM's and will respond to you all. Unfortunately, one of my sons put his hand through a window last night (there was a LOT of blood) and I was at the hospital until the wee hours. And then I had appointments all morning.

If I haven't responded yet, it's not because I'm not receptive, it's only because I'm slammed.

      Hi Carl,

Are you interested in a JV with me to build an authority site and perhaps other related sites?.
I already have a website since 2007 and it has been through the mill with googles algorigthms a few years ago but has not recovered to well. I still get 350 uniques a day without any of my pages listed in google'e famous 1st page. Hve a problem optimizing pages for search at the moment.

I have taken some of my content and turned them into 2 e-books and a published e-book since 2012. I want to do about 30 to 40videos but have a problem at present with the microphone (need to get another one).

I don't have enough content yet for a membership site. I believe one needs 500 plus pages to start. I do have the savy to find content and may need to pay to get more.

There is definitely huge potential in the niche for what I want to do but need a partner who will also be able to contribute on the seo side and the marketing. It would help a lot if you are sports person too.

Sorry I am not giving you the niche name here but it is a sports niche.

Please PM me if you want to discuss some more.

      Thanks,
      Louis

I'm creating a new (drop ship) lawn and garden tools and equipment website, egarden.com.

I'm looking for a partner who can search for and add product, handle social media, and ensure orders actually get filled by the drop shippers.

I own 10 e-commerce websites that do little to no drop shipping, I ship from my own warehouse. I primarily deal with companies that do not drop ship. Drop shipping is a new concept for me.

I'll take care of the cost of the cart program, advertisement, and business expenses. No investment on your part.

This isn't a fly-by-night thing. It is a real website selling physical products to people who have reasonable expectations.

    PM me.

I've read that one quite a few times over the years. Here's the thing, I'm not at risk of losing my home and trying to save myself by jumping into IM. I've been after this for years and want to play the long game.

If I were desperate, I go down to the basement and dust off my contracting tools. But I've done that my entire life and just don't want to be in other's people's crawlspaces anymore. I want to devote my time to something that's sustainable and won't break my back.

I'm beginning to suspect that my real trouble is the very isolation that is a byproduct of toiling away in a home office, with a single outsourced tech in Nepal.

I think that's a problem a lot of people in IM face. At least when you have a J-O-B there are other people around you can bounce ideas off etc.

Yes! Which is precisely why I'm here, at this moment in time. Reaching out for help, guidance, partnerships, whatever might come of this discussion.

At 45 years old, it's finally dawned on me that there's something to the phrase, "No man is an island".

At 42 i am almost the same age, been woking alone since 24 when i started this. It sure leaves a mark on your social skills;-). Same with writers. I moved to an office over 14 months ago, best thing i did.

I've also been where you are, especially when Google cut us off after 7 years of loyal service in 2010. Their decision was not right - confirmed by their lawyer and marketing director - however it is Google, nothing to get done. But that is another story...

Sounds like you should be able to make good money, sometimes the odds are against you though, by the looks of it, luck aint on your side.

I came to realize a while ago that even though i thought i knew everything because i never met anybody who had more knowledge of the interweb, it might be becasue i spent my days working, alone, without meeting many people in my business at all, let alone smart ones. Shortly after i came to realize that even though i was one of the first users of certain software here in my country, adaptation goes fast and the software being more and more user friendly, a monkey can do stuff only we use to be able to. Tough brake, unless you are an underpaid indian programmer with major skills.

Long story short: You definately need a brake at times to 'survive', i honestly hope you'll get one here. It helps to keep you eyes and ears open to what makes other people money and see if you can think of a market that is not being catered to.

I had a tough 5 (!) years from 2007 -2013 taking sole care of my kid and finding ways to make money without Google (97% market here). Luckily i had some savings from better years. My supplier of 11 years told me some good info that i immediately monetized, that was pure luck and keeping my ears open.

            I wish you the same!

Good luck with the kid, hopefully he has recovered somewhat!

Wow! Talk about right place, right time...

When I started this thread, I was sincerely on the verge of giving up on IM, web design and all the rest. I found myself thinking, “I must not be cut out for this stuff because everything I do fails.”

So I reached out to the Warriors, in a last act of desperation. I got a few solid pieces of advice, some solid offers and some very strange ones...

But one offer in particular stood out. Long-time IM veteran, Steve Yakim, approached me with a few properties he has that are sitting idle because he's working on a big software launch. Inexplicably trusting me from the first, he offered to let me take over those properties in a JV partnership.

Of all his sites, the one that interested me most was a hardcore-IM-training program called EZ-Online Boot Camp. It's a 12-week intensive that promises to whip you into shape and complete your IM education. I started digging into the training and it occurred to me that this was the missing part of the puzzle!

See, I've spent so much time reading this, watching that, trying these (and never making more than a few dollars at a time), that my brain is now like a fragmented hard drive.

    Sound familiar?

Not only that, I'm pretty sure I have the “I Suck at This” virus.

So I'm using EZ-Online Boot Camp to fill the empty holes in my hard drive and remove any viral infections from my personal operating system.

But there's more to it than that. While I'm using Boot Camp to complete my internet marketing education, I'll also be applying what I'm learning to marketing the Boot Camp itself, like a snake eating its tail. (My fiancee is a behavioral therapist and she calls this a “parallel process”).

Understand, EZ-Online Boot Camp is not some wimpy eBook written in 24-point font. It's over 22 hours (!) of video training, spread out over 12 weeks (students are free to move through it faster but it's a LOT to take in) that teaches you EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW to run a serious and profitable business in Internet Marketing. And it's only 67 bucks!

I'll be personally going through the 12-week training and documenting every step of the journey at AffiliateArmy.com and I want you all to join me. You can watch me either rise or fall. We'll know for sure, at that point, if this Boot Camp is all that it promises to be.

For now, we're prepping to launch the affiliate program on the 17th. If you want to offer this amazing training to your list, PM me.

In the meantime, you can get a taste of what the training is like at AffiliateArmy.com, where you can get over four hours of the very same training, absolutely free.

I'm not afraid to fail miserably, in a very public way. If you'd like to witness my spectacular failure (or triumphant rise, either way it should be entertaining, at least), join me today.

"A rising tide raises all ships". Here's to our mutual success!

I had tried to offer a joint venture opportunity in this forum and I guess I tried to sell the opportunity too much. My post was rejected. As I had several online properties that at one time were making good money but slowly became idle because they were mainly test projects for a new software I was creating.

Then I saw Carl Donovan's post. He seemed to have the needed skills I was looking for and found that he was willing to learn and work with my software.

He picked one of my idle properties and I gave him the authority to do what ever he believed it needed to get it ready to launch.

I was very pleasantly impressed as he worked his tail off and had the site ready to go into prelaunch in just ten days. The site he has ready to launch has also given him the extra education he needed to start promoting this site.

You should check out his signature because I think he is giving away over 4 hours of free training. Carl was really down and I believe with a little patients, he will be successful. He has made it possible for you to follow him to see if he is successful in this venture or not.

Any encouragement you can offer, I'm sure will help him get his confidence back to where it should be when you see just how much skill he really has.

I know he received a lot of offers for a joint venture. When you want to do a joint venture with some one, make sure you have something prepared to offer that they will see the advantage of having you as their partner.

I figured out the conversion rate for the site Carl chose to work with and at the time, it had a 3.8% conversion rate. So I'm hoping this will carry on and really help him out as the content is rock solid and you can get a great sample of what he now has to offer for free in his signature.

I hope this has been helpful,
    Steve Yakim

    Carl,
YOU ROCK so many skills: dedication, quirky humor, creativity, WP, and apparently, many others. Now you've added the hard-won wisdom about that prime pitfall of IM: no one's an island. Kudos to those investing in your stellar talents. Now, maybe the time's right. Your frankness is a kind of bravery that inspires me and many others who've reached out here. Thanks for the inspiration, it's been a great way to rediscover WarriorForum.
