Will www.ForumWarrior.com have same search impact as www.WarriroForum.com ?

Curious to know if,

www.MarketingInternet.com is same as www.InternetMarketing.com in terms of SEO.

Also impact of an extra alphabet in a domain name, for ex: www.Golds.com would have similar benefit as www.Gold.com ?

Here, assumption is, data on both domains will be same.

So, what would be the effect on SEO with everything else remaining same except the above mentioned changes.

If you have first hand / personal experience, place share the data.

    The amount of weight placed on keywords within the URL is so minimal these days, it's barely a question worth asking.

    So the short answer is: It would make no difference either way. I do not have data to support this. But I have researched the same question over the last year on several IM forums, and this is the answer I am getting from every single post. From personal experience and testing, I have done my own searches to test this theory out and it seems to hold true.

    Thank you Kent.

    I did some research and found few interesting facts.

    In high competition niches keyword in domain name doesn't have much weightage. It doesn't hurt to have keywords though.

    In low competition domains a site with 'bad content' still ranks good for key-word rich domain name.

    Ultimately, the content wins over key-words in domain name. Having a keyword rich domain name is icing on top.

    If any of you have a differing experience, please share 'em.

    Read up about keyword prominence.

    I don't know if its still a signal that Google use, it used to be when I worked for an SEO firm.

    I can't really see either having much of a difference in both examples.

    Like you mentioned, focus on the content.

    Having the keywords in the domain name and/or URL is still huge and shouldn't be dismissed. Just do some searches in Google and check out how many sites have the keywords placed in there.


    Your original question, having both keywords will still help but in the right order will get better impact in my opinion.

    -- 99%, if not 100%. There are two keywords in the phrase, both present in the domains.



    Impact of an extra alphabet in a domain name, for ex: Golds [.] com would have similar benefit as Gold [.] com ?


    -- Singular and plurals are treated as one.



    For best chance at ranking, the keywords have to be present in the URL, if not in the domain.
