Journey to 1k in 90 days

So after taking some time to talk to a close business friend of mine he told me one thing. After taking a look at my goal he sat me down and had a talk with me.

He said that he knew I was thinking about getting all fired up and that I would be able to hit my goal. He said the truth is you're going to burnout and never want to do anything online ever again.

Still on my high I told him never he said listen to me the best thing you can do right now is to start with a goal that is slightly out of your reach but not too much.

So instead of 30k in 90 days how about $1k per month in 90 days? I watched him for a while and after thinking it through and listening to him talk he began to make sense. Setting big audacious goals only look good to the crowd but in order to make progress you have to start small and hit the little goals first.

Taking his advice I've looked back over everything and decide to take a new path. So now instead of a big crazy goal I have one that's big enough to make a difference in my life right now.

He also told me to stick to doing something that I already know how to do. That thing is writing. I type at over 100wpm so I know this is something that I can do while making some good side money in the mean time.

I've decided that I'll be attempting to make an extra $1k per month within 90 days. I can do this wish me luck!

    Realistic expectations are one of the most important prerequisites to keeping you moving in a forward direction, without becoming discouraged.

    While possible, achieving your goal based upon taking a course and having a strong desire, I fear will leave you a bit short in realizing your goal.

    This has become an extremely competitive niche, with consumers and businesses having myriad options at their disposal, many of them at zero or little costs.

    If you peruse the classifieds on this forum, you will find many talented, long-serving web developers with portfolios and references that are offering sites that are extremely reasonable in price.

    Do a Google search to get a realistic overview of the competition you are facing. Of course, you could sell your first website development project for $30k, right out of the gate. I just wouldn't count on it.

    Also, look through this forum to get a quick take on how many of these pie-in-the-sky posters, rarely, if ever, achieve their goal.

    You may wish to reevaluate yours for one that is a bit more realistic. Just something to consider.

    Good thinking but i dont want to discourage you but this amount its not easy achievable if you dont have a lot of experience or a lot of money .But your mindset its good we must thing in big terms if we want to succed

    Monetary goals are poor motivators - especially in the medium to long term. A goal of $30K in 90 days sounds like a typical MMO pitch. Instead, why not try laying down some foundations for long-term success?

    If you want to build something worthy of calling a business, choose a target that's tangible - and one that can be related to the business. In your case, how much better would a target of signing up, say, four new clients each month for the next three months be? That's an average of one a week. It's a target that's clear and easy to monitor.

    Then, at the end of 90 days, you'll have a roster of clients that will form the basis of a sustainable business going forward. More important, you'll be focusing on the process of the business, rather than some arbitrarily-chosen monetary figure.

    Nothing wrong with amending your thread, but when you alter it to such an extent - 30k down to 1k - you should probably have made a new post and given those who've already responded to your original goal a chance to react.

    Anyway, you wanted to make yourself accountable, so... how are you doing so far?
