Welcome to this thread about starting an Amazon Seller Account in Australia and making it work.
Basic goal is to become profitable on Amazon Australia within 4-6 months.
Becoming profitable may be a lot quicker but I don't want to give anyone a false sense that profit is guaranteed nor instant. I expect it will take time and work.
I'll share more about costs and margins as we move forward
First up this post is largely inspired by the post by Savidge on his Ebay journey from $40 to $250 in 30 days. You can read that thread here: https://www.warriorforum.com/warrior...days-ebay.html
Quick background so you know where the start line is for this project.
I've been selling things I've made or bought and sold since I was 14 and that is 38 years ago now.
Started my own business in 1992 in a physical shop selling custom picture framing and still have that business but it now employs 10 staff.
Have been on Internet selling things since the mid 1990's but only got really serious with online from 2010 onwards.
Already have established online ecommerce websites and established offline businesses to support online operations.
Have one coder and one graphic artist on staff.
Around 30 days ago was contacted by an Amazon representative in Australia with an offer to set up a seller account in Australia and start selling our products on Amazon.
I already have a US seller account and do some Kindle and Affiliate stuff but was reluctant to do anything with Amazon in Australia because they charge a monthly fee and I wanted to wait until they became more established before considering setting up an Australian seller account.
NOTE: Amazon monthly fee for a seller account in Australia is $49.95 + 10% sales tax. - so basically $55 per month including tax.
Perhaps you can understand my reluctance to initially set up an Amazon account in Oz because once you set up an account they start charging you immediately.
Anyway there was an offer of support via personalised account manager and some other minor perks offered to sign up and start selling on Amazon Australia and now after some consideration I've decided to test how things go down under.
This is my journey.
March 1st 2019 signed up for seller account in OZ.
Quick word of advice for people with US or other International Amazon accounts.
I thought you could only have ONE seller account and this was holding me back because I thought why did I want to add a monthly billing to my US seller account to just sell products in Australia.
You can have a second account registered under a different email address and still have the same company running the account.
This was one thing that encouraged me to test the Amazon Australia offering knowing that if I cancelled I could still keep my US account active.
Anyway. . . .
Registered and verified the Ozzie account
Azon billed my credit card.
Now the clock is running.
I'll tell you the other things we did today to start the ball rolling tomorrow.
