Stage one 1 is to go from scratch to $3K per month profit in 90 days with affiliate marketing.
Pretty outrageous goal?
Well maybe, but what's the point of having a goal if it doesn't excite you to jump out of bed and go after it!
Let me give you a quick back story then outline my plan.
I'm not a complete newbie online, I have launched a few products in the past, done some freelance web design work, some affiliate marketing projects and dabbled in other niches and different methods.
Some successful and some not so much...
And there lies the problem! I suffer from entrepreneurial excitement and want to do / try everything and it only culminates in dribs and drabs of income, inconsistency and chasing the next shiny opportunity.
So I shut down everything!
Deleted all my sites, went cold turkey and got myself a "proper job".
I now work for the biggest life insurance broker in the United Kingdom. The reason I chose this company was because it's basically a massive affiliate company so I wanted to see from the inside how a soon to be 1000 employee affiliate business works.
It's pretty eye opening! It has taught me that I don't want a business this size because I don't like people that much but it does show me the potential of how far you can take affiliate marketing if you have the drive and focus.
However, I feel my time here is coming to an end, (I say "here" because I'm writing this at my desk, lol) not because I'm worried I'll get fired, I do great work and have used the skills I acquired from online marketing to create my own role in the company.
I feel it's coming to an end because I recently had my first child and I want ultimate freedom and control of my life.
I want to be there when he takes his first steps, I don't want to have to ask someone else if I can take my family on holiday next month. I want to be in total control of my time, life and finances.
I want ultimate freedom!
So that's the back story. Some of you may be able to relate. I'm trying to build a business in my spare time, while being a new dad, working a full time job, making time for my lady, trying to eat right, go to the gym and also keep my sanity.
To say it's f**king hard is an understatement.
So that is one of the reasons I am documenting my journey here, it keeps me accountable and WHEN I hit my goal I can turn these posts into a book or something.
"That's all good and well but what's the plan Jouvan?"
OK OK calm down, I'm getting to it.
Well I want to create something long term that I can build on and feeds my entrepreneurial excitement to try / do different things but first and foremost it needs to be streamlined and strategic rather than bouncing around from thing to thing wasting time and money.
So I decided to build a brand (www.EducatedRebel.com)
Where my focus is to edutain (Educate and Entertain) people using infotainment (Information that also Entertains) within the niche of entrepreneurship and internet marketing with the aim of visitors joining my email list.
Then via my daily email broadcasts I will initially promote quality affiliate offers until I launch my own offer.
Now I will not run my list like a virtual ATM, I need to give people a reason to be there, stay there and open my emails each day. Spamming them with a new BS offer all the time is not the way to do that.
If I wouldn't promote the offer to my own mother then I'm not promoting it to my list.
So the site is up, I have my squeeze page as the home page, it's more of a splash page because anyone can just go to the blog if they want to but everything leads back to joining my list and on my list is where the real fun begins.
It's a super simple business model and right now my ultimate focus is traffic generation.
With my lady now a stay at home mum, that means our income has ultimately halved *crying inside* and now we have another mouth to feed so let's just say money is a little tighter so I'm not about to start blowing cash on traffic generation to test campaigns.
I'm going to use different methods to drive traffic using, content marketing, content syndication and content re-purposing.
Things will get clearer as I update this thread and I share what's working and what's not working for me as I execute on my mission.
So until next time,
