OK, I have checked a bit further and the report back from the cron job is saying that the link is already in the database so not posting it.
this has happened for hundreds of links over the last 3 or so days.

Sean, is there any reason that blb is saying that all the links are in the database already (the links have not been used, so can't understand this one)

this definitely looks like something i need. It's one thing getting the backlinks, but providing juice to those backlinks is another issue.

I'm gonna be reporting my success with this soon.

Sean, I have a question:
What if i registered the wrong domain and got the corresponding license?
I mention this as i chose a domain of mine with extremely limited hosting: 10MB disk storage space.
is it possible to have my license for the first domain i entered cancelled, and a new one created for the domain i want to use?

I don't want to purchase an additional license at the moment. I'm still trying to make this work.

How do I ensure all posts get posted to hellotxt. I have set everything up exactly as you instructed.

I made sure to check off Y for emails enabled.
I made sure I used the correct email as specified in hellotxt
I made sure to use my SMTP and comment out the lines in the config file
I made sure to use longer rather than shorter posts.

Still my posts do not post. Any help or tips is much appreciated.

UPDATE: Posting using hellotxt worked. Apparently there is a 20 to 30 or minute delay for the postings

Now only if the posts included a live link to our links. All I see is unclickable links such as: http://htxt.it/l/ZP50pj which is an unclickable link to the hellotxt site and not my site


Anyone know how to get the links to be active on our web 2.0 sites?

I just checked the hellotxt faq page and saw there is the ability for users to use the full url of the site/link submitted. So would you be able to update BLB so we can use our full url to our links for extra link juice?

This is from their faqs page (http://hellotxt.com/help/faq):

"URL shortening
When you paste a URL into your status box, Hellotxt will automatically create a shortened link for your social network profiles and services once you hit send. The character counter displays your word count based on the shortened URL. I want to use another link shortening service No problem, by inserting (*) before the URL you are sharing, you can send a full length URL, or a shortened version from another service, such as Bit.ly"

Maybe this is already available in BLB and I just don't know the setting for this but if not, I'd greatly appreciate if it can be worked in soon.

I was just wondering, what if after a couple of months, you have boosted thousands of links. With every link you boost, the links on your 2.0 properties have to share the linkjuice with one more link. So, with thousands of links, is there still an reasonable amount of linkjuice passed on to all of those links?

Is it a good idea to create new accounts on all the 2.0 properties, so that once you have reached a certain amount of boosted links, you start spreading them across 'fresh' 2.0 sites?

I've wasted three days tweaking and testing BLB thinking it doesn't work at all. Just to find out that it needs, as you mentioned, 20-30 minutes for the emails to be syndicated to the email addresses and from there to the 2.0 properties

@Mikesan - Make sure you have keywords ready when you post and they will be linked as Anchor text.

@Kachaloo - As mentioned the link is on the first page a couple of times with a big button saying "Add to cart" please let me know if you have any issues with the purchase.

@BelgianGuy - You can do that if you like... I have never had to and we have many different accounts posting all the time with 200-300 word posts

Sorry, figured it out. I was using google chrome to view the rss.php page, but when i switched to firefox, everything worked.

I'm still having issues with hellotxt. I have setup everything correctly. But my mails just don't display in Hellotxt, while they do arrive at every other email adress that I have tried. But the strange thing is that only the mails from my feed do not come through at hellotxt. When I send a regular mail, it shows up.

bring my 5 ping.fm accounts to hellotxt or make 5 completely new one, is to time consuming...

an other method to post to ping.fm is "Feeds by Superfeedr"
just add your BLB feed.

@TrustAdvert - You can use Superfeedr and put your feed in there. However, it will only post to the default group (Microblog or Blog) so you can create 2 Ping.FM accounts. One for just blogs one for MicroBlogs. The use the Superfeedr to post to each group on each account.

Also, just paste your BLB feed into that section on each of the accounts.

Ping.FM's recent changes have really been inconvenient, though I do support there changes to combat the rampant crap and spam that has plagued their service. However, with good timing and quality posts you should not have any problems.

As for your other questions, there is no way to randomize the emails posted at the moment. We may add that to future updates.

Also for keywords, just edit those to suit your needs.

@Belgian - Are you using SMTP email? That seems to work best for HelloTXT

i made more tests. superfeedr is no option...

when BLB collects the content from the sites, we have to 80% crap...
when use our spinned text, every post comes with the same tags... again crap

so hellotxt is no option. post (better say spam) every time to all accounts is no way to do it!

Hey Sean - or any other BLB user - can you recommend a viable solution for mixing the blbrss feed with some additional feeds for hellotxt usage exclusively?

I decided to go with the bear naked blbrss feed (full packed with self serving) links and I desperately look for a solution to get in alignment with the WEB 2.0. platforms anti-spam policy.

Is there any way to include additional rss feeds to my blbrss posting via hellotxt? (!The Rss submission portion of BLB excluded!)

Hi Sean,

I set this up on my server last night, tested it and it seemed to run ok when I hit the Boost It! button.

Tried it again tonight and I get a 404 error. Reinstalled the whole thing again, install says no problem but I still get the 404 error.

Am I missing something here? Can't comment on the Ping.fm functionality as I can't log into my account.

BLB working fine this am, now getting 403 error. I have three licenses on two separate hostgator hosting accounts.

BLB has been working great for several months... but it now isn't working. I keep getting a "Forbidden" error message that indicates that I "don't have permission to access /blb/ on this server. Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request."

Well, I am not sure what the heck is going on with you guys that are having problems but my posts all went thru tonite and the links all work on my FB page from ping.fm.
My guess is you did not send Sean that certificate for free ginger snaps and he shut you off. Just kidding..
I had just checked my posts minutes ago and all is well. I tried a few social sites and see the links and posts, all is working.

It seems like the problem was with hostgator. They made some changes yesterday and screwed up some accounts. My problem was fixed by going to live chat. It only took a couple of minutes and all is working again.

I am not sure what was going on either... I have had a few people with tickets and we were starting to investigate. What was the problem with hostgator exactly so I can use that as a basis for investigation?

Ok after some digging it seems that some hosts have upgraded some security settings that conflict with BLB and any other web based software that has a URL in the query string of a URL (Such as a Boosted Link).

Just contact your host and show them a boosted link as an example and they will be able to sort it out quickly. Hostgator has been very quick about sorting this out so far (the one that seems to be causing most of the issues).

this is what Hostgator support tells me via chat "I do apologize, but this is outside the scope of support. I did try to find some information on this, but I was not able to find any. I would contact the developer of this script and see if they can offer assistance for this issue. Again I apologize for this inconvience"

Any advice as to what "exactly" I need to tell Hostgator's support to "help" them help me? My techie wants to say its not Hostgator's problem it is the software developer's problem. I keep saying that NOTHING has changed on my site, nor the script I'm running, so it has to be on Hostgator's side.

This is amazing... Hostgator's live chat kid "Aaron" tells me that the issue is NOT Hostgator's because they don't support software scripts. I tell him the script has been working fine for months. I have not changed anything. The software script has not changed. Has Hostgator changed things? He tells me I must go to the software developer for support, not Hostgator. He then gives me ticket with their support system (so he doesn't have to chat with me anymore). 5 minutes later I go back to try to "boost" the sites that weren't working... guess what?

VIOLA! Magically it works! This is frustrating with Hostgator. If they could at least admit that they made a change and that they fixed it back, then I would be happy. But they didn't. GRRRRR. The Badcow is now the Madcow!

At least Sean's script is working for me again. I'm glad some of you had good response with Hostgator... I did NOT, but the end result is fine.

Just for reference for everyone else... just show them the URL that is not working and let them know it is the URL in the query string (they will know what you mean) that is causing the issue. They should be able to take it from there.

Yes, I gave them the URL that wasn't working. I probably was lucky to get a tech who immediately understood what the problem was and was able to fix it so quickly. In general, I find that the more specific I can give Hostgator techs when there is a problem, the better my chances are that they will be able to quickly fix the issue. They're not so good at troubleshooting.

Just wanted to say thank you for this great tool! I've gotten the ping.fm figured using SMTP so everything is working perfectly for now!

Backlink Booster is so powerful that I have gotten a good majority of my links showing up in Google just 5 minutes after boosting them! Amazing stuff!

Had the same problem with Hostgator. Contacted their live chat support and the guy I chatted with recognized the problem straight away.

I just purchased BLB yesterday and got it successfully installed. I have just watched the video, read the pdf and also read the forum posts. This seems very cool and very simple yet at the same time - a little overwhelmed with the different issues. If I may, I have a few questions and some of them may be silly but I’m trying to figure out exactly how to use this tool ; )

1. I read that hellotxt is preferred over ping.fm recently. Is using hellotxt the best recommendation to use over ping.fm?

2. There is this link - Auto Social Bookmarking: Submit This To Onlywire Now >>
and there are link icons at the bottom to OnlyWIre and SocialMarker.

Should both of these be used at the same time or is it better to use one of them over the other? – or is it simply a matter of preference?

3. Since the txt file of urls are generated: Saving URL To URL List for Import To Social Bookmarking Systems - URL File: 2010-07-05-urls.txt

A) What would be the reasons to use the txt file produced?
B) Are tools like Bookmarking Demon using the txt file necessary when using OnlyWire or SocialMarker or both? – or are these merely preference/optional on which to use?

4. How does the RSS feed that is produced work?
A) Is the feed one feed that is continually added to or is there multiple feeds produced?
B) Is it possible to produce multiple feeds?
C) Are the feed settings changeable to show x amount of feeds?
D) Does this same feed url get submitted to the aggregators over and over again when it is updated if there are not multiple feeds?

My apologies if these are silly questions, but thank you to anyone in advance for your help and answers.

I just purchased the Backlink Booster. Using the software is very simple. If you're not a technical guy, the video and pdf make it extremely easy for you to install it in a step by step process. It is not hard at all.

The only glitch I had was I had to add some code in my php.ini file for ioncube - but if you have any issues like that you're webhost can help you with those issues.

Also, if for some reason you do have technical difficulties - I have read in the forum overwhelming raving reviews about the customer support being excellent for this product.

I certainly would not fear the tech details. It doesn't even take long to set up.

The software boosts backlinks by building links to your promoter pages (which are the ones that link to your main site). From what I see - that is done through RSS feeds, social bookmarking, and 2.0 sites.

I am trying to figure out how to use it or understand the features of it for best use. Hopefully someone will chime in on those questions from my above post.

Since I am not certainly not an expert - but a newbie on this software - I wanted to help out by encouraging you not to be afraid of the technicalities. Perhaps someone with more experience and knowledge can give input as well. This was just my experience.

Also, one more quick note. You can boost any page, site or property on the web you wish. So if you want to build backlinks to your main site you can. The idea however, is to build links to your backlinks.

BTW- How does a newbie site create backlinks, because it appears in order to get the link juice, you need to establish some backlinks first. Once a backlink is establish, how do you find your backlink to load into the Backlink Booster software. Am I understanding how this works, if not can someone advise me on this question too? Read about doing the free press release sites and submit one or two to them. Daniel Tan has a good product on that here in the forum and there are other free sources to use.
In a browser address bar type yourdomainname.com and look at results. Go to each page and find where a link has gone back to your site and boost that page. This will help along with other efforts.
