I have a problem with the plugin. I have received complaint from my feeds subscribers that they are receiving unreadable messages after installation of the plugin.

Here is one of the messages that they received –

I see you have 'cracked the code' about translating from html to readable text. And you pm it, not publish it here in this thread.

I don't know specifically how you 'cracked the code' this time. I have figured out several ways of doing it. It's the basis of my posts much earlier in this thread about using your plugin on platforms other than WordPress. As I wrote at that time, I use my techniques a lot. It takes only maybe a minute longer than posting directly on WordPress.

But if you want to keep your method under wraps, that's fine with me. It's nice to think I'm the only one using your plugin on platforms other than WordPress. Who needs competition? ;-)

This is one rocking plugin and is a fantastic bargain.

I have one question. When using as an autoblog is there anyway to protect links/anchor text that is already designated in the post from being overwritten by keywords to cash ... preferably on autopilot or is that in the works?

I would like to keep the original links from my post and contributors from being overwritten.

Actually, the "code" I "cracked" (lol, how dramatic of me...!)...

...was steveniam's issue that WPUnique was screwing up his RSS feed

As is often the case with Wordpress, these things can be fixed up in just a few lines of code...in this case 3 lines...

And if you're interested, it's round about line 62 where the "action" happened...

Here's a before and after:

Before:

Code:

		
		if ( is_admin() ) {
			return variable_name;
		}

After:

Code:

 if (is_feed()) {
		        return variable_name ;
		}
		if ( is_admin() ) {
			return variable_name;
		}

...Looks like the WF removes PHP variable names, so the real code would be:

return ($)dupestr;

...remove the ()

All I can say is, I use WPUnique on all my blogs, for both unique and duplicate content...however, unfortunately, with unique content...there's no "control" variable, so it's next to impossible to say how much it helps!

But I use it all the same

The main purpose of WPUnique is to make your republished duplicate content appear "different" to the search engines...which it seems to do, as davob and many others have seen.

It's not a magic bullet, of course, and sometimes you'll need to give the search engines a little "nudge", but it's working pretty well from what I can see.

Please let me know if you have any other issues with the keywords2url function!

I guess what I meant was not having to use protected keywords.

I have a blog that is now converted to an autoblog. anything that would be a link in the post will be converted by keywords to cash if I desgnate the same phrases or keywords. I want to avoid that without having to use protected keywords. I was hoping you could designate in the code/programing any post that has predefined link by the author is not converted by keywords to cash. that is the such as < a > predefined keyword < a / > . If the plugin could overlook those predifined links in the post without using protected keywords it would make it a true autoblog.

OK, after reading this, I went back and performed a test. Maybe the message was something different. But the load speed of my page is in direct correlation as to whether I use "standard" or "truly unique". I put it on standard, it loads fine. I switch it to truly unique, press apply, and then load my site and wait 120 seconds for it to load. Go to the admin, switch it back immediately to standard, press apply, and load my page in 2 seconds.

You can tell me all you want that it's not effecting it, but this is what is literally happening with my site. I eagerly await the next update with truly unique not slowing the loading of my site.

So...under certain circumstances you'd like any anchor text to be ignored?

That's perfectly doable, of course...

If the pre-defined keyword is already a link...ignore it...is that what you mean?

I just want to clarify and sorry for seeming daft but I think I may be overlooking something really simple.

Ok I think I understand. If a contributing author has a link in the post and uses the anchor "dog food" with their own link there is no way to protect their link from being changed to my link if I want to use the same anchor.

It won't change their link, but it would change the anchor text...

e.g. if you said, any mention of "dog food" should now be changed to "check out this dog food link"...the anchor text would be changed, but the URL wouldn't.

...so, your contributors would still have their links, but the anchor text would change to whatever you specified.

Truly unique mode "truly uniquifies" common dictionary words that you wouldn't typically try to rank for...if, but, can, also, etc...

However, you're absolutely right...what if one or more of those words is part of a keyphrase you DO want to rank for?

Well, that's where the "Protected Keywords" function kicks in...

So, if one of your keywords is "how can I train my puppy", you would simply add that to your protected keywords file, and WPUnique will leave it well alone.

You can add as many keywords as you wish to this file...

I had a similar issue Steve.

Say the keyword was parenting that I wanted to link to a product. WP Unique changed the "parenting" word in the url parenting.com into my link instead of ignoring it because it was the existing url.

If you could code it to ignore urls??

I know I shouldn't be using a single word keyword...

Yes, I'm adding the code to do just that (the latest version already ignores keywords in <html tags> for the uniquifying and spinning code...but not the URL generator...

...for some reason that obviously made sense at the time, but which escapes me now, Lol...!

It'll be in the new version, which I hope to get out early next week.

In the meantime, I would suggest putting a space before any single words in your keyword2url file. That should overcome the problem!

I guess i'd like to see how truly unique affects rankings in G (in the near future) as we all know that the standard option does help uniquefying articles and so far G has no problems with it.

Just purchased and installed WPUnique. I really like the functionality. My only fault with it is how slow my blog now seems to load. Also, the individual pages seem to take forever to load now as well. I have it set up in the "truly unique" setting and am spinning all content by using approximately 8% of the synonym list. I sent you an e-mail yesterday with an error code my blog is sometimes throwing:

"Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in /home/xxxxxx/public_html/xxxxxxxx.com/wp-content/plugins/wpunique/wpunique.php on line 381"

Anyone else experiencing the slow load times?

what kind of traffic are those keywords worth?

mind sharing what your doing to promote generally speaking as those are some mighty fine results.

prl seems to be a better option since you dont have to worry about your visitors clicking off via the authors links to their site. however steve mentioned ranking better with outbound links?

very glad to read this as i had the same question going through this thread.

i bought into the slick bs those guys had on their sales page, the uniquifier plugin (NOT this one being offered here) caused my money sites I put it on to absolutely take a huge nosedive in rankings.took along time to get them back after i deleted that garbage plugin from my sites too!

Are there certanin themes or fonts that this should be used on so it looks the best?
As of now it looks ok but you cannot help but notice it looks 'weird' ,especially the letters n and h..and the u is a bit too off as well.
For autoblogs this doesnt really matter, but for a nice money site,it throws off the flow of reading and would hurt visitors experience/conversions imo.

edit-i see the descriptions and instructions on this in the plugin area now.

What should I do with this? Just to note, Im very pleased I got this.Just tossing out objective feedback to make for a better experience for everyone.

I have a few money sites that I have original well written content on that I dont want touched.I dont want the 'code thing' done to it nor spun. How would I protect these original posts and then set it so that it codes and spins all posts from here on out?
I mainly ask for autoblogging purposes,easy enough to tweak them manually if/when I post them,but for autoblogging...?

I've got and installed your wpunique. I tried to copy and paste product description from amazon to my post. I used "Choose Uniquify Mode: standard" option. After I published the copy-paste content and I looked to the source code is nothing different. I've seen all your video and followed the instructions. The result is just the same. Did I miss something ?

Hi,

You shouldn't use "truly unique" mode on your money sites...

Why would you, after all...?

Your money sites should ALWAYS be YOUR closing copy...not someone else's...and if it's yours...there's no need to "unique" it

Hi,
I bought the plugin about two weeks ago and it seems to work great. After some trouble to get my blog indexed again after I changed the link structure ( made some mistakes -.- ) , I see some traffic coming in from copied content. The blog ranks mainly for long tail keywords of the different articles.
But google is still pushing my sites up and down, so I'll report again if it's stabilized.
