Hi Steve,

If it were me, I'd "protect" my already indexed content, and leave it untouched by this or any other plugin.

Anything you "create" from this moment on, of course, is fair game.

Having said that...there's nothing stopping you from "uniquifying" your older content...I wouldn't do it myself, is all...after all, it's already indexed and ranking!

Lets say I have a decent sized group of longtail keywords that I want to rank for.
Instead of writing a different article for each one, could I use the same article and just 'wp unique' it every time?

My question is, does wp unique make it totally unique each time I use it, or would the same article be transformed into the same unique code. IE the third time I posted the same article on my blog (once original, then the second one wp-uniqued) would that be unique as well or would it be a duplicate of the 2nd article where i used wp unique on it the first time?

Love the plugin and it has saved me countless hours of writing content for my blogs already. I haven't really tried to rank with any of it so far but am mostly using it to fill in the gaps in my blogs that just lack content. Just having more pages in my blogs seems to get me ranked much higher for newer keywords.

Anyway, wanted to let you know of an issue I am having with my latest blog I was using your plugin for. This could just be user error so bear with me. I have been setting up articles (PLR of course) to post using the post scheduler and setting the wp unique options on each individual post to "truly unique" and "auto spin". I just noticed tonight when I was checking on the blog that everything was posting on schedule but it doesn't seem to retain its unique wp unique settings if it was a scheduled post (it reverts back to "no" for all options). It looks like the few posts that I posted immediately rather than scheduling retained their settings. Am I doing something wrong? I am using the latest version of Wordpress.

QUESTION 1: I created my protectedkeywords.txt file, and then uploaded and activated WP Unique. I only want NEW posts to be "uniquified" as they are published. So keeping that in mind; is this is all I need to do...

QUESTION 4: I use a free plugin called MaxBlogPress Ping Optimizer that limits pinging so you don't get tagged as a spammer if you were to edit a previously published post numerous times. Question: If I want to go back and uniquify previously published posts that are NOT ranking well, would the MaxBlogPress Ping Optimizer plugin get in the way of uniquifying my old posts?

Click "SAVE CHANGES"
Unless you click on Apply Globally it will only affect future posts.

2) Edit posts you want to uniquify manually and change the setting to Yes as above. No mass way to uniquify a select number of posts.

3) What happened to 3?

4) While you're editing the older posts deactivate the Maxblog plugin to ping the posts as you edit them. Do it in batches and slowly. Don't edit 20 posts in 5 mins. you will ping the services too much and the services will block/ignore you.

This is something I've been wondering about, too. I asked the same question some time ago, but not as clearly, I think. I didn't get an answer then but I think Steve may have misunderstood me.

I have a suspicion it may be one of those unanswerable questions.

@doiron and jhess, I can't speak for Steve. I'm sure he'll give a more authoritative answer.

In the meantime, it is my understanding that one article = 1 unique code. Repeat the article, get the same code.

Think of it this way: if 'uniqueing' an article produced a totally new code each time you ran the article through the process you would have been told this trick right from the beginning. Steve would have advertised something like this: "My program takes one article and makes an infinite number of unique variations" He did not make that promise/claim. I'm pretty sure someone asked this question earlier on this thread and Steve answered that one article = 1 unique code.

No mater what you do your rankings will always go up and down. But if you can gain a top ranking for a few months surly that's a good thing.

Well, I originally clicked NO to Uniquify All Posts because I assumed that would uniquify new posts ONLY and leave all previously published posts UN-uniquified. So based on what you said, I went back and selected YES for Uniquify All Posts -- and guess what happened? That uniquified ALL my previously published posts!

So that leads to two more questions...

A) Whats the difference between clicking YES (which uniquified ALL my previously published posts) and clicking the Force Global Settings button?

B) Since I'm using the MaxBlogPress Ping Optimizer plugin - and it was on when I did that - what effect do you think will happen to the rankings of all my previous posts now?

I have a question that may have already been addressed, so please forgive if so.

On your website, www.googlesniperlaunch.com, the first post is an article you that you copied and pasted from an article directory and then uniquified. I can see that you attributed the article to www.googlesniperreviewinfo.com without a hyperlink. However, the subsequent posts don't have a URL that would indicate that you copied them from another website.

So my question is, are these posts that you originally wrote (or had written) for yourself? If so, is this something that you would suggest we do with our blogs which is to copy and paste no more than 1 article from an article directory on our blogs?

Hi Domainarama and thanks for your take on the subject. You may well be right. I guess it depends on exactly what the plugin does each time, if it follows the same "rules" every time, or if there's a random element involved.

And you're right that it was brought up before. That was by me in post 620 and again in 627. Steve gave a suggestion that may have given you the assumption that it contained the answer but I can't be sure. He suggested that if we have two duplicate articles we uniquify both of them and spin one.

But if I know I have a duplicate article I'll just delete one. It's just that with thousands of autoblogged posts, duplicates can slip in despite best efforts.

I would guess, like you, that his suggestion implies WP Unique will affect both posts similarly. I'd like to get confirmation about that, however.

The plugin is no longer working for me. Do you think is because I did not upgrade wordpress to 2.9.2 ?

It was working like a charm till 10 days ago. I use onlywire to bookmark and target non competitive long tail keywords and I saw results in under 30 min.

Hi Steve,

If I use this plugin, will this 'Uniquify" all my old Duplicate content Automatically? with out me having to do anything.
Also If I have an autoloader of blogs that loads duplicate content, will this " Uniquify" the new dupicate?. Will this do this? and if so does it do it all automatically?? without my help??

Also if someone else has the same dupicate conent, that gets 'Uniqified", and I have the same contect as them, that gets "Uniquifyied" is my content the sames as theirs, or is it different?

Are you aware that there are a couple plugins out there that will check for duplicate content on your blog? Here is one and its free ( Duplicate Post Checker ). I have no interest in this guys plugin except that I use it.

I bought this plug-in today. I thought it actually found content, spun it, the posted it. My bad, i should have read up more and watched the videos. Nevertheless I can see its value.

Is there such software that can fetch content, spin it, and post it? If not what is the best way to accomplish all this in one shot for a WP blog? Using this software with a good content spinner seems to be a 2 software solution maybe.

Not before they're posted...but when the post is viewed by your visitors.

WPUnique works "on the fly", meaning nothing actually gets permantly changed in your WP database.

But yes, as soon as your scheduled posts are published, WPUnique will do it's thing!

I've seen some situations where 2 plugins seem to fight over the post content, which can slow things down...but generally all seems OK from my experience.

If you use the auto-spin function, and use a massive synonym list, then yes - that's potentially a huge overhead on your server. But I wouldn't recommend that, and almost nobody uses the plugin that way.

Well, you could use the auto-spin function, which can generate a random list of synonyms...unique to you...to make your "uniqued" version different to someone else's. Or you could change the dictionary file, and add, change or remove entries from there.
