Hi Steve -

Just installed the plugin on an older version of Wordpress and am not able to activate it:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function register_setting() in /home/pcwebtip/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wpunique/wpunique.php on line 497

Was wanting to use it on some established blogs even though I wasn't sure it would work that way.

Can you tell me if this is possible and which versions of Wordpress it works on. Also, if there's a fix for my issue, that would be wonderful!

EZA also thinks that authors who rewrite THEIR OWN work are not worthy to be EZA members... direct quote from Chris Knight:

If I'm not mistaken, once you set the global parameters (on the plugin's settings page) all posts will be uniquified, including those already posted.

I found another small glitch in the keyword2url function. This time it takes care of the commas and periods, but it seems to be case-sensitive ?

Hi Steven,

I have activated your plugin and added a plr article for a post and set the setting to
yes on auto spin.

I have done this numerous times but nothing happens. All the files show when you click
on edit plugins so the files are there.

Any ideal as to what is happening.

Does anyone know how to get this plugin to work.

All the files are loaded as per instructions but I am unable to change any of the plr
articles that I have entered as posts.

I have removed and installed the plugin numerous times and checked the settings and
all seem fine.

Still doesn't work. None of the articles change in format or text.

Does this plugin work with wp 2.8.6?

Steve, did you tick the setting to uniquify once you wrote your post? Also, you won't see a change in the text...the 'bots will.

An update on my WPUnique "Reclaim my ezine content" experiment:

I have republished one of my own ezine articles on my 9-month-old blog (5 days ago), installed the latest version of WPUnique, set the "Uniquify All Posts" setting, have a google xml sitemaps plugin installed, bookmarked my article page with a few social bookmarking sites, done a few backlinks to the article page, checked my wordpress privacy settings, and requested reconsideration from google webmaster tools (I recently changed my hosting company and the privacy settings were set to "no search engines" for a couple of days).

Although the other pages on my blog are still indexed, this one has not yet been indexed (according to a site:mydomain.com search)

Anything I have missed? (Other than a little patience) Would love to get this article ranking..Thanks

Although different article directories have different rules, generally they will require that you leave the article contents intact -- including any hyperlinks.

It's well worth reading the TOS before you republish content, to make sure you operate within the rules.

Hi Pat,

There are 2 lots of settings:

1. Global Settings
2. Per Post Override Settings

You can access the Global Settings, by clicking the WPUnique link at the bottom of your admin panel's side bar.

This will give you the same 4 options you see when you add or edit individual posts.

The difference here is that whatever you select here will apply to every post on your blog, past present and future.

You can override these settings on a post-by-post basis by choosing different settings when you add or edit posts.

Thanks for the update!

It does take a little while for Google to come sniffing around again if you've had your privacy options set to block the search engines (even if you've asked for reconsideration)

What might be a faster option is posting some more content on your blog, and make sure your XML Sitemap has been updated correctly.

Am I doing something wrong? I have about 15 posts on my blog now and still no rankings. Every post has been bookmarked by 30 of the top sb sites and all are indexed. Also, when you post content to your blog do you use the all in one seo plug-in? Maybe that's the problem. I'm currently using this along with h-1,h-2 tags. However, I'm leaving all article contents intact as per the guidelines.

Presumably, as you are indexed, you're ranking somewhere for some keywords...just not the keywords you're targeting.

Are you getting any Google traffic? If so, check your AWStats to see which phrases people are using to find you.

When you bookmarked your sites, I assume you used your keywords in the description box etc and the anchor text?

Also, are the bookmarks you submitted ranking anywhere for your keywords?

I don't personally use the All In One SEO plugin, but it sounds like you're doing a good job of On Page SEO in any case.

...I don't see how any of this applies to us.

1. WPUnique is not an article crawler
2. Or a rogue bot
3. Or a site scraper
4. Nor does it mine EZA content

What we're doing is syndicating content as explicitly allowed in the TOS.

The fact that we're modifiying the underlying source code is irrelevent. To the naked eye, the content is identical, and the original author gets the same benefits of an additional backlink or two from his resource box and some additional exposure.

That's my take on it.

1)In terms of ranking though how does it help with the speed of ranking that is, using someone else's article vs. my own unique one using the same keywords but not their article (so I don’t have to put their links)?

Steve, with all the articles I will be posting with links in them, that's presumably going to leak a lot of link juice from the blog. Should I be setting a 'no-follow' on the blog and if so, where do I do that (warning...newb question)

The global parameters of this plugin are set on the plugins settings page. On the left hand side of your blog's admin dashboard page, look for the module labeled "Settings." In that list of items, look for wpunique. When you click on wpunique, you will be taken to wpunique's settings page.

The global parameters will be drop down boxes to choose either yes or no:

Uniquify All Posts: (dropdown box)
Uniquify All Comments: (dropdown box)
Auto-Spin All Content: (dropdown box)
Keywords to Cash Links: (dropdown box)


When you say yes to the first 2, your posts and commetns will be uniquified.
Autospin set to yes will spin the posts (altho there might be an unresolved issue there, as yet)
Keywords to cashlinks set to yes will set certain keywords to your affiliate codes BUT you have to set this up in the wpunique Editor first (something else entirely--if you need that info, let me know).

The Terms of Service at every article directory I've ever encountered REQUIRE that all links stay INTACT. It's just the right thing to do.

You actually won't SEE any changes to the plr articles, but Google will. Unless you are talking about the spin feature. There appears to be an issue with that (as mentioned previously in the thread) and we're all waiting on Steve to talk us thru it. Steve has been occupied with family health issues.

There are a couple of free plugins you could use to set nofollow: Robots Meta and All In One SEO.

Click on your plugins module in the admin's left sidebar, then on "Add NEW." In the text box enter one of those plugins names and you'll be taken right to the plugin where you can immed. install it.

Then go thru the plugin's settings page to customize your settings (set the nofollow).
