Blog Entries: 2 | The Presell System: Sell More, Sell Better, Without The "Hard Sell." Imagine being able to sell more without using "hard sell"... turning potential customers into real customers and fans who buy from you time and time again. Now, don't get me wrong. There are times when a "sales pitch" may be needed. However, you can make sales, and often many more of them, by PRE-SELLING. Pre-selling is the art of "warming up" your potential customers (your "prospects" as I call them)... so by the time they learn about your product or service, they're virtually ready to buy it, even though you haven't even told them about it! Some of the world's best marketers have mastered the art of "pre-selling." They might not call it this... but that's what it is. What's The Difference Between "Pre-Selling" And "Selling"... And Why Does It Matter? There are two major differences, which you can leverage to make many more sales and build an intensely loyal customer base. Key Difference #1 is all about the presentation and packaging. With pre-selling, you're giving prospects CONTENT, not a sales pitch. When people read a sales piece, they're skeptical. Their guard is up... and the moment they realize you're selling something, they're already looking for a price. ($60, okay? Now stay with me here. This is important!) However, if you give prospects a free report with helpful content, and follow-up emails doing the same... they'll be more willing to hear you out, because you're not selling anything. Sure, they'll still read with some skepticism, but they won't have their guard up to the same extent... and they won't be obsessed with the price, because you're not selling them anything. You can use this content to pre-sell, and ironically... to sell more! Key Difference #2 is time. A sales pitch is basically a one-time thing. Prospects arrive at the pitch (i.e. a sales letter or video presentation), and they either buy or don't buy. After that, a prospect might be gone forever. A pre-selling campaign is different. It begins with what I call the "Heavy Hitter"... which may be a report or video presentation that gives people content. It's informative, perhaps entertaining. Most important of all, it's carefully designed to lead people to want your product and only your product (using a unique blend of techniques I'd like to show you). You can then send a series of specially crafted emails, that inform, educate, entertain... and also pre-sell. Now, I know most marketers use free reports, videos and emails to market their stuff all the time. In itself, this is nothing new, right? However, few marketers know how to harmonize all their content, so it pre-sells your products like a "sales machine" hidden under the content, flying under the "sales-pitch radar" of your prospects. There is a way to create a sequence of content, and put it all together into a campaign, so it... * leads people to feel that your product is literally THE ONLY ONE for them (especially if your product already has elements that make it stand out from the crowd), * builds your authority, even if you're starting out as Mr or Ms Nobody. (Do this right, and you'll have more authority in the eyes of your prospects than the top gurus in your field), * demolishes all objections to buying your product (assuming you're marketing to people who are "qualified"... i.e. able to become customers), * eliminates the competition, so you become THE go-to person in your field for your prospects. I know this, because that's exactly what I do. I've been a copywriter and product creator for over 20 years now, and I create pre-selling content for clients, usually behind the scenes. ("Behind the scenes" is how most product creators prefer their copywriters.) I also wrote the book on pre-selling. Literally. It was an ebook called "Presell Mastery" back in 2011, and it was one of the earlier (maybe even one of the first?) marketing books to cover the concept of pre-selling as a subject. Fast-forward 11 years, and I've learned so much more about preselling that I'm excited to share with you. The problem with a book is, it can be hard to follow if you want to create your own pre-sell campaign step-by-step. I wanted to develop a SYSTEM anyone could follow, to create their own pre-sell campaigns quickly, easily... and in a simple step-by-step manner. I wanted it to be useful for people promoting all kinds of things - information products, services, physical products, affiliate marketers, and even for promoting beliefs, activities and ideas. I also wanted to include a ton of examples, leaving you in no doubt about how to create your own awesome pre-selling content and campaigns. The result is The Presell System. (I ditched the "-" in pre-sell, to save digital space.) I'll show you how to create presell campaigns that build your authority, lead prospects to feel that your product is THE one for them, remove obstacles to buying for those who are "qualified" to buy, and eliminate alternatives in the mind of your prospects. The great thing is, you don't have to be a good writer to use the Presell System. In fact, even if you absolutely SUCK at writing... you can still produce great content! Of course, you could outsource the writing part. However, a word of warning. I suspect fewer than 1 in 100 writers know even half of the things I'm about to show you. This means you'll want access to the Presell System, so can see exactly what your content needs in order to pre-sell. Only then will you know what to ask from your content writer, so they can create great presell content for you. The 10 Essential Components Of The "Presell System." There are 10 "Core" Components: CORE 01: PROSPECT PICKER It would be nice if everyone on the planet bought your product, right? But they won't, of course. This component helps you narrow down your target audience based on your initial pre-selling goals, so you maximize the chance of making sales quickly, while helping you to keep longer term goals in mind as well. I'll also introduce you to a unique concept that will help you decide HOW to presell even fairly generic products. CORE 02: THE PROCESS This component zooms in to the part of your product that actually gives people results, so you can pre-sell it. When you do this, you'll have a massive long-term advantage over sellers who just "sell the sizzle." CORE 03: OUTCOMES People buy products and services because they want some kind of "outcomes." But I'll show you many other ways of thinking about these outcomes, that will help you presell. CORE 04: DIFFERENCE IDENTIFIER What makes YOUR product, service or idea stand out from the crowd? I'll show you how to identify the differences, and presell your prospects on these differences... so by the time they learn about your product, they're almost demanding to buy it from you! Even if your product is completely generic, I'll show you how to add a "magical element" to your campaign that will help you pre-sell the product. CORE 05: THE BRIDGING IDEA Imagine there was a simple idea, that when prospects "bought into" this idea, the next logical step would be to buy your product. That would be great, right? Chances are, at least one of these ideas exists for you and your product! I call it the "Bridging Idea"... and I'll show you how to find yours. CORE 06: PRESELL POINTS My concept of "presell points" allows you to keep track of the thoughts you'll need prospects to have, as they go from being skeptical prospects to becoming customers and raving fans. These are so important that I've included TEN different techniques to help you find these presell points... allowing you to map out the thought process of your prospects. When you have this map, it's almost like you'll be able to read their minds! (Please only use this ethically, okay?) CORE 07: AUTHORITY BUILDER People want to buy from experts who know what they're talking about, right? In this component I'll share 16 ways to build your authority and expertise in your presell material, so you become not just another expert... but THE EXPERT in the eyes of your prospects. These techniques are perfect if you're new to your field and need to build up your authority, but are just as good if you're already a well-known figure. CORE 08: STORYTELLING Stories and anecdotes are entertaining, and they can also presell in subtle and powerful ways. The good news is, you don't have to be a great storyteller to create stories that presell. Just follow the three simple steps in this component, and make sure to include the three critical elements I'll reveal. CORE 09: BREAKING BARRIERS A "barrier" is anything that could stop your prospects from buying, that you also have a reasonable influence over. These include classic objections ("I can't afford this"), limiting beliefs ("I'll never be able to create my own presell content") and questions ("Will this work for me?"). In sales you're supposed to "tackle" objections, but you'll always face at least some resistance. In the Presell System we go far beyond merely "tackling objections." Using my four "tools" to break down barriers - the Sledgehammer, the Missile, the Nuke and the Trampoline - we leave no objections intact by the end of a presell campaign. (Okay, technically the Trampoline helps prospects bounce right over any possible barriers that might still remain.) CORE 10: ELIMINATING ALTERNATIVES No matter how good your product is, people always have alternatives... even if this includes "doing nothing." However, you can use a presell campaign to gradually eliminate alternatives, so the people on your list see you and your product as THE ONLY ONE for them. CONTENT GENERATOR This is where the presell content is actually made. I'll share 11 ways to create great presell content fast... even if you think you suck at writing. I also have a special "7 Layer Outlining Method" so you can create an outline of your material at high-speed, without missing out any of the important preselling elements... and I also include a special style of writing (called bulletio) which I swiped from my own experience as a copywriter. ALSO INCLUDED: 5 "BIG EXAMPLES" I want to give you a ton of examples, because this is hands down THE BEST WAY to see how all these ideas and techniques work in practice. I've aimed to include lots of small examples of how to use individual techniques. However, I also want to show you how the 10 components work together, so the Presell System currently includes 5 "Big Examples." These are detailed examples where I write presell content for 3 information products, 1 "physical" product (actually software) and 1 service, including the outlines and drafts of presell reports. Thanks for your question. Yes, the Presell System isn't directly about getting traffic, although you could use some of the techniques to help affiliates presell, which could mean more effective affiliates, potentially leading to more traffic. | |

I just purchased this and want to say that I'm excited to have access to this program... I already found a gold nugget within the Introduction pdf: It's Paul's concept of building the prospect's desire to have a process that gives them the result they want and need... versus just trying to sell "the dream". This concept is helping me see copywriting from another perspective, and I'm really excited about it. I look forward to working my way through this "Presell System" and implementing it as an affiliate for a product that I've been wanting to promote but not sure how to do it. Thanks, Paul. P.S. Hey Paul, Purchased and looking forward to go through it. I've actually bought the old version as well when you first launched the product on presells years ago. That was hands down the best training on presell copywriting that I've ever read. It should be a MUST read for any affiliate. Not that it didn't benefit product owners too, but especially affiliates. Anyway, I'm excited about the monthly add-ons on this one too... I just hope maybe you can set up an autoresponder or something to let us know when you launch it? I'm not visiting WarriorForum as much as I've used to, but I'd definitely be in for that as well.. |
