When I upgraded to 1.5 it seems that the keyword density was lowered on my posts. Was the update responsible for the reported decrease in density?
I was wondering what your recommendations are for settings for automatic decoration; off,
client-side or admin-side?

Nice idea this plugin, but I seem to be struggling with the mechanics of even the basics.

Have my keyword in the Post title and also using all in one SEO pack and keyword placed in the Title section there, yet Easy has a cross against Title contains and Title begins with, similar problems in the Meta section. Content section doesnt show that the keyword has been bolded.

Any suggestions ?

Rick, go to Easy WP SEO -> Settings -> Miscellaneous Settings and go to the "Keyword Density Formula". The first keyword density formula (is the one most widely used on other plugins). The second keyword density formula was the one primarily used in version 1.4 of Easy WP SEO. Select the second keyword density formula to revert your keyword density scores back to the way it was before.

Great job on WP Easy SEO.
I bought v1.5 near the top of the price range (that's why I don't play the stock market),
and would have paid more

However, I now have to revise my whole consulting strategy

Usually, I'll let clients look over my shoulder while I show them how we're going to
improve their sites.

This involves me logging into 3 or four different sites, firing up some software on my
machine, letting them see all the jargon, cryptic instructions, mysterious acronyms and
how Google mangles the translation of one service's Turkish language site.

By the time I start explaining what it all means, they're nodding their heads, mumbling 'uh-huh, great..."
and wandering off to the coffee machine where they think I don't see them playing Angry Birds, glad that
they've paid me the big bucks to handle all that gibberish.

Now of course, if I let them see how quick and easy it is to fix up their content using a free install
of WP, a free plugin (FV Simpler SEO) and WP Easy SEO, they'll get the idea that their summer intern could
do the job a lot cheaper.

Good thing I bring some other value-added expertise to the job.
But I'm watching my back.

Hi Chris, Sorry I can't pm you but i haven't made enough posts> Anyway, I have already updated all my pages, changed the keyword density formula to option 2 and everything is still the same. So what next. In the previous version, The keyword density was fine but it seems to have lowered in 1.5 and I am having real trouble bringing it back up again. The red crosses still remain by the following:-

Content has 4.0-5.5% keyword density.

Content contains keyword in the first 50-100 words.

Any more suggestions would be very much appreciated. Thanks for your help.

i've got an external link with the keyword, and i've got a keyword in the last 100 words, but the software seems to think I have neither.

And I don't have an image with alt in my post, but the software thinks I do.

I did as you instructed and checked the second option for keyword formula. Went back to each post and the keyword density did not change back to the V 1.4 levels. Not sure what to do now. I am also not sure whether to choose 4-6% for keyword density or 2-4 % ...

Rick, keyword detection is more accurate in version 1.5, so it probably will result in a difference with your keyword density scores (from version 1.4 to version 1.5).

I have been reading some of the latest posts and I am confused about KW density. What I am reading is that the formula changed from V1.4 to V1.5, right? Which is the correct and best formula to use?

I had asked your in an earlier post, you must have not been able to answer, if I should lower my kw density to 2-3%? Now with this change between versions, not sure what to do?

I apologize I haven't had a chance to respond. The keyword density formula hasn't changed from version 1.4 to version 1.5. I added the most commonly used formula on other plugins (which is now the default), and also the previous formula (which, in my opinion, gives a more accurate keyword density for long tail keyword phrases).

I keep my keyword density at around 2%-4%.

This thing is wrecking my head!! I keep getting red X's for things that I know are 100% correct, eg Title, H1,meta description etc.

I emailed support and did get a quick response, however nothing as yet that can explain why the plugin is'nt working on my sites.

Up until yesterday I was happily using seopressor, looks like i'll be going back to it in a day or so if this major issue can't be fixed.

I also see alot of others here that have reported the same issue being pm'd a response, please do not pm me, if there is a way to fix this problem, please post it here for all to see.

While it is difficult for me to diagnose the issue without knowing the URL of your post or page or your primary keyword or your web host, I'll do the best I can...

Do you use HostGator as your web host? If so, they disable "GET Requests" by default. So, you need to contact them and ask them to "turn GET requests on" for your domain name. They will know exactly what I'm talking about. You can go to hostgator.com and click the "Live Chat" graphic for the fastest response.

If you don't have HostGator, what happens when you type in a word like test or keyword as the primary keyword? Enter the same word into the Title, Meta, and Heading tags. Do you get the same result ([X]'s) when you update the post or page?

If you still receive [X]'s in the suggestion area, even after you use a simple word like test or keyword, then your web host probably has "GET Requests" turned off for your account. Contact them and ask them to turn GET requests on for your domain name.

If your web server doesn't allow Easy WP SEO to request the HTML for your post or page, then it can't analyze your content, and it is going to display [X]'s.

Would you post the URL to your post or page along with the primary keyword, so I can diagnose the issue?

Also, would you post your Paypal Transaction ID, so I can know if you are an authorized user of Easy WP SEO?

Did the "Get Request" changed after the upgrade to 1.5? It seemed to work well with 1.4 and now I am creating a post and it keeps showing me the red X. While the older posts that were created with 1.4 still showing a 100% score

Early this month I decided to stop checking WSOs to avoid distractions from my projects. Too bad for me, I would've gotten this plugin for a lot cheaper LOL! But even at $31.80 I was all over this one. I've been using SEOPressor and Easy WP SEO beats the tar out of it - I love it!

I have noticed two glitches with it so far. I am using the Thesis theme, and another Thesis user mentioned earlier on this thread they were seeing an issue. So, maybe what I'm experiencing is a slight incompatibility with Thesis.

1. My static index page (not post) is getting the red X for not having my main keyword in the permalink. Since it's the home page, there is no permalink. My keyword is contained in the site's domain name, so the plugin appears not to be aware of that.

2. My index page is a bit short right now, and the keyword density was too high. I had a category widget in the sidebar that showed 3 categories, all containing my site's main keyword. I removed the widget but that did not lower the keyword density. I think the plugin should have noticed and adjusted the density downward since it analyzes the entire XHTML document instead of just the page or post content.

Aside from that, I think this plugin totally rocks! Excellent work, Chris!

1. You are right. Easy WP SEO only detects keywords in the permalink when they are separated by a character like a hyphen (http://www.yourdomain.com/your-keyword-phrase/), but I am working on a fix for this in version 1.6.

2. Easy WP SEO version 1.6 will give you the ability to set your keyword density score based on your entire XHTML document or just your post or page content.

OK, but since 1.5 is checking the entire XHTML, it should still have reduced the keyword density when I removed the category widget (containing 3 occurrences of the keyword) from the sidebar, no?

You're welcome. After HostGator turns the GET requests on, just click the "Publish" (for a new post or page), "Update" (for an old post or page), or "Save Draft" button, and that should take care of your problem.
