Excellent plugin! I'm going to put it on a few websites and I had a question. How long does it take for the sites to get indexed or their rank in Google improved?

Thanks!

Thanks!
Sites to get indexed: 1 day, 3hrs, 49min

Rank improvement: Varies based on initial rank to improve from, as follows:

Rank: 1 N/A
Rank: 2-20 | 3.2 days
Rank: 21-50 | 2.9 days
Rank: 51+ | 2.3 weeks

* The rank improvement timelines above assume a target improvement of 1-10 positions
* Disclaimer: Individual results will vary based on an infinite number of variables

Warning: This plugin is like a loaded firearm. In the right hands it could feed your family, or start a revolution. In the wrong hands it could accidently blow your neighbor's face off. Please be careful (and don't ruin this for everyone)

[QUOTE=zerofill;4408216].... analysis paralysis.....QUOTE]

Wow....I think that's my issue sometimes...that's funny....and so true at times. I guess we get SCARED to JUST DO IT!!!

Well, I'm doing it. I've put about 500 pages up and the picture below is the results right now. I do have a question for one of the pros here.

My first site I am working on is for a business that offers a lot of services. +Would it be a better option to create alot of good articles for the top keywords OR some articles for the ones that are just covering all the bases? In other words, would you really pound the term plumbing or hit across the board and do replace toilet, unclog sink, leaking bathtub, etc (just examples mind you)

Thank you for this amazing plugin and opportunity!!!

Forgot to ask. I stupidly put the {city} shortcode in my categories and need to know if I can edit that to take it out, will it mess up all of the posts that I have up and am ranking for?

Thanks

I'm testing out the most recent update and just using one shortcode (with only two cities) to get a feel for the new interface. I have already built a couple of sites using the first iteration of this plugin without any problems

The only problem I'm having now is that I'm getting duplicate posts (or pages) for each entry. Anyone have a solution?

Hey Eddie,

Why not test it out and let us know what you find. Create a single variable placeholder, ninja up a post with an intentionally jacked up category name, and make a note of the category URL and the post URL. Then go and edit the category (delete the placeholder tag {X}) from the dashboard>categories module. Then see what happens when you try to navigate to those URLs (Post and Category Page). I suspect WP will deal with this seamlessly, but let us know. Then go party like a boss

Hey Jody,

I seem to remember earlier mentions of duplicate post issues found they were caused by improper use of {shortcodes}.

With the original plugin this could happen by calling {City} instead of {city}.

With the updated version I think some have had it happen when they named a shortcode using the "{ }" symbols. You should name the shortcodes without using "{ }" symbols. Only use those symbols in the text/html/copy of the post/page you are publishing.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for answering, but those were the first things I checked. I thought I had either 1) used {} when I was setting up the shortcode, or 2) incorrectly capitalized my shortcode in the post or left a space, but none of that is the problem.

By the way, I did a search through the thread to see if others have had and/or found an answer to this problem. Someone had this problem a day or two ago and Andres pm'd them. Perhaps that poster is around if the developers are taking a well-deserved rest. If I get an answer, I'll post it in case anyone else has the problem.

I've had duplicate page creation issues, but it's always been because my server times out the script, then I hit publish again. I built out a 800+ page site and then had to go back and manually de-dupe a bunch of pages.

The easiest way I found to do that: From the sitemap I used "search/find" [ctrl+f] for the "-2" that gets appended to the dupe titles. Then I just clicked through to each page and trashed it. There may be an easier way. How do you handle it?

The sick thing is that it probably wouldn't even have mattered if I just left them in there.

It happens to all of us. Speaking for myself, it's very easy to do nothing (other than look at them) when dozens of good to great WSOs come out every week! Not to mention wasting time looking at bad ones! Ahem. But I digress...

I'm sure glad I saw this WSO, though!

The strategy I'm currently following is to:

A) Create Categories and Posts around my main and general keywords to give the site some permanent "weight", e.g. "plumbing," "plumbing in los angeles," "plumbing services la", etc. Let keyword volume and common sense be your guide.

B) Create Pages using LPN for main keyword + local neighborhoods/cities: e.g. "plumber los angeles," "plumber hollywood," "plumber beverly hills," etc.

C) Create Pages using LPN around narrow niches: e.g. "unclog sink los angeles." This assumes (having not done any KW research for this) that there is some volume of traffic (either in general or specific to the city) for "unclog sink."

If you do this, you'll cover all the bases and look like an authority site. But bear in mind, I'm new to this plugin, so I can't speak from great authority as to whether this is a good strategy. It seems to be in line with what Jeremy et all are recommending. Your results will undoubtedly vary.

Comments, anyone?

Best of luck to all!

I have had a issue with duplicates when I am using 2 variables at the same time.

For instance if I have 42 {city} and only 15 {state} shortcodes.
The posts will cycle through and you would end up with duplicate {state} pages, they have to match up exactly. The video and PDF explain this but I overlooked it and got duplicates. It gets a little confusing to keep track sometimes for me.

RANK TRACKING PLUGINS FOR WORDPRESS!

Hey everybody. I discovered two different rank tracking plugins for Wordpress. I'm surprised nobody is talking about them. I will be trying one or both out shortly, but I thought I'd give a head's up to everybody here since it seems like this is now a real issue for all of us.

Many of the tools mentioned here are good (if not great), but some are very expensive and most require you to boot up an app and go back and forth between your site(s) and the tool. What's really cool about these plugins is the promise of making the job a lot easier. You can work right from within WP—to which I say "COOL!"

Website Rank Tracker
Currently free and seems to have all the tools. Works via a WP plugin.

Rank Tracker Plugin
This is a $29 plugin, but it's got what looks like some killer features (not to mention testimonials).

Let's get some people using these and see if one or both are the right solution(s) for LPN users!

OK LPNers, Hombre is not around so I'm going to post something very, very different here. I want to try an experiment with all of you following this thread (you must be an owner to participate), it's something that I think will help us and the creators immensely. And possibly carry over to other WSOs for the future benefit of all.

Every WSO has what is considered Best Practices. These are hard and fast rules that must be observed in order to capture the full effect benefit and/or power of the offer. Sprinkled throughout a thread are small bits of information that are an integral part of the WSO.

For example, LPN could have a 'best practices' for WordPress Plugins; Google XML Sitemap, WP-CMS Post Control (?) and All-In-One SEO Pack. Or pinging sites that worked for you etc., etc.

So how is this going to work?.... First a quick lesson on the options available to those that want to contribute and add to the 'Best Practices' post.

At the bottom of this 'Best Practices' post you will see the option to quote the post. If you click on it you will find in the editor the previous posts enclosed in quotes (and our ever growing list of Best Practices). For the sake of continuity, scroll to the bottom of the quoted text and start a new line after the last closing quote that looks like this [/ QUOTE] (I had to break it with an extra space after the forward slash). And then add to the bottom your 'Best Practices' tip........ You Can, Copy & Paste, quote, type in, it's up to you and whatever is easiest for you. Again, if it was mentioned by another Warrior.... Give them their due credit.

Again this is an experiment.... I see no reason why it shouldn't work... If it catch's on it could and will be a huge timesaver for all interested parties and those just joining the thread.

In addition to Best Practices we could also include FAQ's, or for that matter anything beneficial to the offer or thread.

I am going to make one rule for this Best Practices post,.... theft of another Warriors tip, hint, idea or practice is allowed as long as you know that the info is valid i.e. you tried it and found it beneficial. Best Practices for the Best Practice post again, should include the username of the originator of the practice.

For example and to start this post off I'm going to steal Subprime1's post concerning curly brackets... This was the highest hurdle for me in the beginning and I didn't want to screw the curly bracket thing up. So his little bit of info on them I believe will prove valuable.

So what's going to happen with this post? As long as we choose the option to 'QUOTE' at the bottom of this post this post will grow and grow and be sprinkled throughout the thread for all to read on potentially every page of the thread....And in my opinion the longer this post becomes the better off we will all be and most importantly we won't be bugging the creators of the WSO. More free time for them means faster answers to unasked questions.

Hope this all made sense..... Remember it's an experiment It may very well not work.

My intention is to create a living, breathing document that keeps up with all the beneficial information.

SO, AWAAAAAYY WEEEE GO!!!

Again, I stole this quote from Subprime1
Thank You Subprime!

And one last thing. My intentions with this is to not pollute the thread. As the originator of the post I reserve my right to delete or modify it at any time.... And Dat's Da Fac's Jack!!!

Oh, and one more rule that should be followed. Select the info you've posted and hit the BOLD B for easier reference to the info.

In order for this to work, you must find the last posting of this BEST PRACTICES post to quote and add to. Otherwise it will end as nothing more than SPAM!

Jeremy, Andres or Don.... If you want this post gone just shout!

#1 Subprime1:
I seem to remember earlier mentions of duplicate post issues found they were caused by improper use of {shortcodes}.

With the original plugin this could happen by calling {
City} instead of {city}.

With the updated version I think some have had it happen when they named a shortcode using the "{ }" symbols. You should name the shortcodes without using "{ }" symbols. Only use those symbols in the text/html/copy of the post/page you are publishing.

Updated Posting Instructions. Quotes tags need to be removed from the beginning and end of the previous post.

NEXT!

Thanks Hombre. I think I'll pick this one up.

What I like about it is that they advocate (and automate) the same method I used when I built my first LPN site, which I posted stats on two days ago.

Basically I developed a list of keywords based on the 30 most popular searches that led to click-throughs over the last 12 months to my client's site in the same niche. Then I wrote eight articles that optimized for those 30 keywords and pressed the LP Ninja button. Of course you need a seasoned site that ranks well and generates decent traffic to get a good keyword list like this. But now that I have it I can build a lot of local optimized sites quickly using WP-Twin + LPN. How much is that worth? F'ng priceless, right?

Anyway, I'll let you know how that rank tracking plugin works out. Thanks again.

Hah! You can't slip past me, MisterE! I see you! Where's that damn shovel? And shotgun! I'll need the shotgun!

Seriously, though...

I really like your Best Practices idea! I think it's brilliant, and I think it should be readily adopted not just here, but throughout the entire WF! I'm not kidding!!!

For what its' worth, I heartily encourage one and all to use it.

A "floating FAQ" like this will be invaluable as a reference and genuinely useful to grogs and noobs alike. What nominal amount it eats up in bandwidth it more than makes up for in value. Well done sir! I hope one and all hurry to adopt this sterling innovation!

And thanks for quoting me in the durn thing. You beat me to it!

Just bought the plugin and have begun playing around with it and it seems great! Quick question, I see that there are two videos, but I thought I read earlier in this massive thread about more videos having been released. Is there something I'm missing or are we still waiting on them to come out?

Thanks.

You're welcome, sub. I'm glad to be of assistance. I just picked it up too, and for much the same reasons. I'm going to be very interested to see what it tells me in the days and weeks ahead...

For those that are interested, Rank Tracker Plugin is a straight-up Clickbank purchase (with the standard 60 day return policy) and shock of shocks... NO FREAKIN' OTOs, UPSELLS, FORCED TIME WASTERS or other nonsense! Wow. Phew!

Better still, it includes a Yahoo Backlinks bonus plugin that will tell you at a glance (in your Dashboard) what your backlink count is looking like. Seems pretty cool...

We're still waiting. The development team did like three versions of LPN in in less than a week(!), not to mention fielding a TON of questions. Jeremy has said he'll get to it. He's a man of his word, so give it time.

I'm betting he comes through next week, but we shall see.

Good idea for finding the dupes. I'll keep that in mind if the problem isn't solved. I only used a handful of keywords (4-6) because I was testing so I don't think it was the server timing out. At least with so few posts it was easy to trash the dupes.

I was concerned about that issue so I tested with only one shortcode, just to be sure I had the basics down with the new version before I went crazy building posts and pages. I'm really glad I started slowly and cautiously.

SEOBook.com also has a nice Firefox addon, which is also free: Keyword Rank Checking Software & Rank Tracker Tools: SEO Book.com

What I like about it is that you just load up your domain name and your keywords and it does the rest. You don't have to deal with the individual pages. It returns the url for any pages that are ranking for the particular keyword. Apparently my sitemap is ranking for some of my keywords right now.

The important stuff.

In order for this to work, you must find the last posting of this BEST PRACTICES post to quote and add to. Otherwise it will end as nothing more than SPAM!

YOU MUST DELETE THE QUOTE TAGS FROM THE BEGINNING OF THE PREVIOUS POST AND THE END OF THE PREVIOUS POST! BEFORE POSTING YOUR INFO!

THEY LOOK LIKE THIS: [/QUOT E] & [QUOT E=MisterE;4411581]

Jeremy, Andres or Don.... If you want this post gone just shout!

#1 Subprime1:
I seem to remember earlier mentions of duplicate post issues found they were caused by improper use of {shortcodes}.

With the original plugin this could happen by calling {
City} instead of {city}.

With the updated version I think some have had it happen when they named a shortcode using the "{ }" symbols. You should name the shortcodes without using "{ }" symbols. Only use those symbols in the text/html/copy of the post/page you are publishing.

Is there anyway to easily fix it? It's indexed and ranking for nearly 100 pages but it's all a dead link. How can I get the content back while keeping the exact same ranking url?

Here is a simple work around. install the "404 to start" plug in and you can set it to redirect the 404 errors. I just have it set to redirect to my main CPA offer like the rest of the site.
Same problem with me, except I have over 450 pages indexed with Google on the site I am testing LPN on. Not all are indexed pages are "not found", but quite a few are, as I upgraded to the new version of LPN and decided to change how my content was presented. At the time that I did this, Google did not report that many pages indexed (using site:mysite.com) which is why I did it (not knowing that Google was "thinking" of indexing all of my content), but then I checked the day after changing everything, and found that Google was now showing over 450 pages of the site the way my site was with old LPN content, a few days before!!!

Anyway, here is my fix, but its TEDIOUS:

installed 2 plugins
1) Permalink-Finder THis plugin intercepts 404 errors and attempts to locate an existing post or page on the site that has simlar words to the broken link in Google.

THis tends to find the new verson of the post, but since I spun my titles on a lot of the newer content, permalink-link finder does not always work. I am also using the maximum number of words to match setting.

One nice thing is that it reports recent (up to 30) 404 or 301's and shows where it sent them to. Another nice feature is that it shows what IP was hitting the bad link. I could see my own IP, and I also noticed the Googlebot IP was hitting my site, and I could see it was being fed the new links.

So then I installed Plugin #2: Redirection
With this plugin you can take your old broken link and tell it to auto redirect to the new link (I search my posts for the city name for the new version of the content). Unfortunately, I have to do these one at a time. Note that you must post the broken link that the Google search results are linking to, not the search results link in GOogle itself.

I won't have to do all 450 posts, because Permalink-finder does correctly locate some of the new posts. I wish there was a super version of Permalink-Finder.

Anyway, that's my 2cents. If anyone has a better suggestion, I'M ALL EARS!

Question for those who have already begun to use this tool with or without current results ....

I'm just realizing the enormity of the surrounding areas of any big city within a 50 mile radius and the build out of all of these posts. Yes understood it happens without any effort at all, but that isn't my point.

For example, just around NYC, using a general keyword as the Domain and:

Cities in Results and Cities + State Abbreviations in Results

and `Location Keyword` & `Keyword Location` in Results

I got @ 2820 possible combinations.

This is without tackling other permutations like the spelling out of the full State Name etc.

So this is a 2 prong question as far as approach, and I know it's a matter of choice and what it is you are looking to achieve.

Now, there are plenty of combinations that just don't get searched at all and I'll venture to say @ 80% of them (using Paredo's Law of 80/20), so ....

1. Would you still build those out because because it's easy to, and you don't want to waste time sifting through the ones that don't even get searched on 10x a month so as to not include them in your build out?

2. If you then decide to build all of these out due to ease, and then you go ahead and start tackling other cities and their surrounding areas, before you know it, you'll end up with a 30,000+ page site, of which many of the posts/pages are going to be useless and take up lots of resource within your hosting account that might be unnecessary, and result in extra bandwidth costs.

or

instead of casting a wide net

3. do you tackle the major cities of a state and leave the possible surrounding areas at bay

Again, this is very subjective and I understand it will vary as to who does what and the many aspects and possibilities of which route to travel with this.

I suppose the concern is with the keyword + city combos that do not get searched and all those pages/posts that go along with them.

Thanks and sorry for the rant

I am using WP SEO Beast by Prashant Sharma and getting a score of 9.5 out of 10 for on-page SEO. Please let me know if you can help

I was about to answer your question on how I put my list together but purpleman87 has a great way that is very similar to how I do it. Thanks for the tip Purpleman87.

P.S. I use the paid version of Rank Tracker and can just load up a whole list of keywords and let it run. I also use HMA to change IPs so I don't get blocked from Google queries.

Now use find and replace with the KW of choice and save as KWcity file or whatever it is. Now when you go to rank tracker or Traffic

There is probably an easier way, but that's what I did.

I am picturing many different sites, in the same niche, but all in different cities, and ranking them all on the first page ONLY for city+niche. Not several different cities for each. Hope this makes sense.

Thanks
Like someone already mentioned, you can target suburbs or neighborhoods so that they get ranking as well.

But really this plugin is meant to get you multiple rankings really fast for a lot of different areas so that you can take advantage of the ones that rank and if you really want to push the ones that don't or just forget about them.

When targeting local markets, the whole duplicate content, supplemental index thing doesn't apply.

What is "not a good idea at all"? My sitemap ranking? No kidding, it wasn't intentional but, thank goodness, it was just part of my testing. Personally, I blame Don for giving us the idea of throwing a few backlinks at it. It works.

LOL, clearly I need to get my sense of humor checked out.

I still blame Don for my sitemap ranking, however. Since it wasn't clearly spelled out in bold red headlines on every page of this thread that this could happen, I'll be seeking a refund on every product or service I've purchased from D&J over the past two years. And I expect immediate customer service (including hand holding) in perpetuity on every product and service that I refunded. In fact, I demand that D or J (preferably both since I'm really confused) show up at my home (at my convenience, of course) and explain this whole "internet" thing to me again...and show me where that button is supposed to be on my keyboard that will make money appear in my bank account without me doing anything or thinking for myself.

And you're not off the hook either, Andres. I just haven't figured out exactly how I want you to fix all of my problems yet.

OK, enough silliness, I must go back to work since I can't find that button...

For you guys not having an issue with HostGator -

1) How long are your articles?
2) How much spintax do you have in them?

I'm on a decent VPS and went in and manually changed by PHP execution limit time from 30 seconds all the way to 1200 seconds and could still never get more than 80-90 pages generated at a time.

I have turned off every plug-in that I can - using Yoast's WP SEO plug-in by the way which is in my opinion is better than AIOSEO and does work fine with LPN.

My page is about 700 words long with maybe 20-30% spintax - is that too long Andres and causing LPN to choke during creation?

My initial list is 203 entries {city} {state} 4 times throughout the article.

Any thoughts on what might be causing issues as it would be nice to be able to create the 200-400 pages or more at a time others are reporting.

Thanks.

Quick shortcode question.

I'm targeting a state with 386 cities.
The shortcode for {city1} has the first 200 cities in the list.
The shortcode for {city2} has the remaining 186 cities.

First run (posting) creates 200 posts using {city1} in the draft content.
Second run with the remaining 186 using {city2} in the draft content is also creating 200 posts, for a grand total of 400, when it seems to me there should only be 386.

I've gone back over both drafts, and the {city1} and {city2} are both exclusive to there relative drafts.

My question.... For each draft (new post) do we have to delete the previous shortcodes and create new ones?

I was under the impression that we could create a multitude of shortcodes and the only ones that would be used would be the ones called for in the draft.

Existing shortcode counts:
city1 = 200
city2 = 186
state short = 1
state long = 1

What am I missing?

Mark

check the end of every shortcode file , you may have spaces, it creates pages or post with {city} even when it is blank. You can find those post or pages by filtering your post or page listing search for keyword space next field after {city}

Thanks Roger!

Went back through the {city2} draft in Notepad++, found zero errors, no extra spaces or typos in any of the shortcode tokens (or draft for that matter)..... Unfortunately:confused:

LPN has posted for all 386 cities. Haven't checked whether or not it cycled back to the first 14 cities associated with {city2}, why it would do this I have no idea, seems to me that it should stop at 186.

No big deal really... I couldn't care less about 14 extra posts.... Just thought the problem was peculiar and wondering if anybody has experienced the same thing.

Do you have a user-manual ... I am confused about only able to use the plug-in with unpublished pages ...does that mean that you edit all of your pages plugging in your {city}field and saving every page and or post and not publishing them until all of the pages or posts are done???? Is there a more detailed set of instructions or videos explaining how to use the plug-in on a brand new site and showing how to use it with All in one SEO pack etc....

The video that comes with the plug-in shows using it with all ready published pages but he refers to only using it with unpublished pages ????

Sorry if I am asking a dumb question but I am confused

Haha, yeah wife and kids were getting kind of lonely so I had to take a day away from the computer.

The insurance sites are actually Don's and Jeremy's but you can PM me and I'm sure I can help you out.

Hi Mark,

just ran a quick test with your same exact settings and I got 386 pages so it seems to be working fine and I've got some other shortcodes in there as well to make sure it's not interfering with the other shortcodes.

If you notice happening again just PM me with the details so I can try to pinpoint what's going on.

Mark,

My guess is you told the LPN to create 200 pages/posts on your first run, copied and pasted your next run and never changed LPN to only create 186 pages/posts.

If you told it to create 200 pages with city2 it will create 200 pages/posts and just start at the top of the 186 lists creating 14 extras with a "-2" at the end of the permalink...

That get it?

Thanks for checking for me Andres

Later this evening (much later) I'm going to add another few states. If the problem still exists I'll contact you through your support system. Or PM you as you suggested.

I don't want to delete the {city2} draft and try it all over again, like I said previously, I couldn't care less about the problem.

As long as I'm writing.... One more quick question...... Is there any way to check whether or not WP has pinged these 'Built' sites? I'm assuming it does, but since we're not formally 'Publishing' the sites I'm just a bit curious.

Mark

Just ran across something pretty cool. Some of you are already using it I'm sure but I thought I'd share. I am spinning content and then creating multiple posts for all of my shortcodes. These drafts are the same and plugging in all the AIOSEO stuff was getting tiresome. I thought that it'd be cool if they had a plugin that clones a POST so that all you have to do is change the {city 4} to {city 5}. Well, they do and it's working like a champ.

It's pretty easy to use too for noobs like me. It's called Duplicate Post. After you install it, just go to one of the drafts in Local Pages and scroll over the title. You will see the normal, Edit, Quick Edit, Trash, and Preview...but now there is also the option to Duplicate. I think you'll like it if your strategy is like mine.

The link is WordPress › Duplicate Post « WordPress Plugins

Thanks again OPs for this amazing opportunity. I'M HAVING A BLAST!!!! Can't wait to start renting out those pages.

Thanks for the response 'Joe,

I actually thought about this scenario.... The problem is that I left the 'number of posts' field blank thinking that it would just work on the number of cities in the shortcode list.

And much thanks for the tip about the "-2" permalink.... I never would have thought to look for this appendage Super valuable tip for me!

I can only assume I deleted the pages that are ranking No1. when I upgraded the pluging and had a bunch of errors on it. The good thing is that on position 2 is also mine except that it does not look good to have a dead link on pos. 1.

Is there anyway to easily fix it? It's indexed and ranking for nearly 100 pages but it's all a dead link. How can I get the content back while keeping the exact same ranking url?

Thanks
Double check the URLs.....but i found when I put the posts first it took up the url for the page, and since google links you to the page, I would build the pages first, then the posts. Otherwise, you can double check the permalink my going to the top of each page and checking the link. Then last case scenario which would make sure things are perfect would be to generate another sitemap and resubmit it to Google. Goodluck!

which is why you use the search thread tool or google to solve your problem. Jeremy and Don are here to solve issues, not answer questions that have been asked multiple times.

If you really feel compelled to contact them, then go contact their support desk which has been linked god knows how many times throughout this thread. Alright, goodluck. Remember.......lol there's no stupid questions....just stupid....uhhhmmmmm I wont go there, lol

Hi Mark,

I've had better luck with specifying the exact number of posts/pages based upon what I want. Not positive, and Andres correct me here, but it seems the # of posts to create is not working quite right - i.e. as you experienced if your second run has less than the first it utilizes the first number again. Kind of acts like a variable initialization error, but I haven't worn a programmer hat in many moons.. well mostly

For shiggles, on your next creation with a similar routine (run2 smaller than run1), try telling LPN exact values to see if it works as expected.

I'm a little confused in regards to this issue. I think I'm having it too. Well, I know I am. My shortcodes have about 150 to 170 in each one. Yet I am creating 200 posts each time. I "assumed" that since I was spinning it would just put up slightly different content and rotate back through the cities. Is this what is happening?

Thanks
Eddie
