Hi Jeremy/Andres,

I'm not very knowledgeable about the technical aspects, so I wanted to ask you if I was to target small businesses in my local area, and if their site is not on Wordpress, would this tool not work? If not, would I then need to build them a new site using WP in order to utilize this tool?
I've seen where you've said that it would work on new and existing sites, so wanted to clear this up.

UPDATE!!!!

My God..I am loving this thing. Attached is the picture of my latest stats for the site I'm building for a local business.

I started building pages today for another service industry today...will hope to post positive results on that soon.

A lot of times... most times actually we don't even use this on actual client sites.

We build the sites and are basically selling the rankings to them.

1) Add their information to the ranking posts with phone numbers, links to their sites etc.
2) Display their sites in our Core Conversion plugin on the pages that are ranking...

This is a wordpress plugin though. It only works on self hosted wordpress sites. It will not work on anything that isn't wordpress based. However you can do one of the options above...

You can sell the site to them and let them do whatever they want with it, or maintain it for them for a fee, etc...

Build them a new wordpress blog from scratch for their niche/business.

Build your own CPA/Amazon/Affiliate sites...

Build lead capture sites and sell the leads...

Man... friggin uses for this thing are endless... we haven't even used it in some of the ways we have in mind yet lol.

Again, this is very subjective and I understand it will vary as to who does what and the many aspects and possibilities of which route to travel with this.

What I try to do is tackle different variations of the same keyword all with one post. I don't build a post for city + keyword and keyword + city. or keyword + city and keyword + city + state. I find that all those different variations seems to rank pretty well as long as you have them throughout your post.

I might set up the title with the full state name and then somewhere in the body, I'll just use the state abbreviation, etc.

My first results, trickling in...

Last week I did a test post on one of my sites, just to see how LPN would work. I haven't (as of this point) done anything special to promote the pages—just letting WP run and the spiders find the pages as they will. The site in question was wet-behind-the-ears brand-spanking-new and bought specifically for a project that, as it turned out, dovetailed very nicely with my discovery of LPN. So, the site has no traffic and may not have even been indexed before I used LPN (not sure). It does have my main two word keywords in the URL

I used the Easy WP SEO plugin to generate a good score for my base article (83/100). I did not spin the article for this test.

The keyword phrases consisted of my main two word keyword + major city.

Out of 68 pages generated by LPN thusfar, only 20 have been indexed to this point. But here's the thing, out of the 20...

8 are on Page 1!
7 are on Page 2!

Now I know, I know... that's not jump up and down, scream-at-the-top-of-your-lungs kind of results. But think about this. These pages have MILLIONS of results. I've got a #5 position on a page with over 4 million results and #6 position on a page with 9.5 million!

These are not even "local" results. These are "big city" results in major markets. Still...

HOLY COW!

This is POWERFUL STUFF folks!!!

Considering the site had little content and no traffic—and I'm getting these results with no special effort beyond what is necessary to make LPN work—I'd say this bodes very well for the future. In fact, I'd say the results are pretty darn amazing. Chalk it up to good on page SEO combined with LPN.

Upshot? I'm getting really serious this coming week...

NOTE ON RANK TRACKING: I'm using the SEO Book tool, which runs through Firefox, to get the status of my keywords and posts re: Google. I think it's pretty cool, particularly given that it's free! I thank Jody_W for reminding me that this tool existed.

The Rank Tracker Plugin I mentioned before has some dope features but it has (I think) one major flaw. Until you're getting traffic, it doesn't know where your pages rank. In that regard, it's passive. In other words, I don't think it goes out and gets data for you. If it does, I'm not seeing it yet.

As for the other WP plugin (Website Rank Tracker), it's free... but holdon! What I didn't know before is that it's only free for 5 keywords. Beyond that, it's $14.95/mo. for unlimited keywords (which is what is needed with LPN). It may well be a great tool, though. I dunno. I'm going to install it soon just to see what it does.

Yes and maybe.

I suppose it would depend if the searches for these permutations in [Exact Match] might justify the extra step to attempt a @#1 ranking as opposed to a 1st page ranking had you not taken the extra step.

But I agree it is overkill especially if you're casting a wide net over an area capturing every little town rather than just the big cities, and even with just the major cities, there's work involved. Scary .... I might have to think a little and work

A lot to think about since this is a powerful tool and the approaches are endless without fear of even competition.

*Still my biggest fear is the enormity of the amount of posts that can be created for 1 single site and the amount of disk usage in a reseller account w/ HostG. I can see easily the limits being pushed.

I don't normally make any comments in the forum and like to stay under the radar but l have a question to ask.....why are you even bothering to sell this local domination plugin when using it puts you so far ahead of the crowd in the marketplace, l would have quietly banked the profits and are doing.

I think l may have been one of the early birds to start in cpa offers and have enjoyed the ride so far making steady profits and was aghast when google decided it didn't like ranking squeeze pages and was overjoyed when you sold the core conversation plugin as it once again allowed me to play the google dance game and beat it for squeeze pages.

Now l have combined the two plugins together l can see that within a few months my dream car will be parked on the drive, l not sure that you realise what you created with these two plugins, each on their own are moneyspinners, when put together especially with cpa offers they are not just plugins but an entire business with some many applications, whatever do please don't get the software writer to combine the two as l would at least like to stay ahead of the game for a while.

I realise that everyone takes some unfair stick sometimes and we are quick to give it, so in fair play this time is a thanks to you guys for helping us to make a living off the internet.

A number of people seem to be having trouble with HG hosting timing out.

I have a reseller acct with Surpasshosting and have no trouble with 346 (the
most I have tried at one time) posts. Have not tried pages to see if it makes
any difference.

BTW, I am NOT spinning. I have heard from multiple SEO's that I trust and they
do NOT recommend spinning anymore. G can detect spinning, so I don't do it.

...besides it seems that many people are getting great results with LPN without
spinning.

Can someone clarify what the update and spinner does? The plugin always changed the variables such as CITY but the problem was as to duplicate content... If the plugin now handles this please explain how.. if not please explain what the update changed.. thanks

Hi,

I used this for the first time and I created 400 posts 2 days ago within minutes under the cities and everything went great.

Today I am trying to post the same article but with states replacing the cities. I added all 50 states under shortcodes and the list imported correctly. Now I create a new post under the create new local posts section. When I have it all filled out I click SAVE DRAFT and then it takes me to a page that has the same article with the same keywords and categories, but the page is NOT the add local page any more, it's EDIT LOCAL PAGE, which is obviously not right.

I would deeply appreciate help as to why this is not working as it should, yet 2 days ago it worked perfectly my first time using it and I am using it EXACTLY as I did 2 days ago.

OK LPNers,

Things are finally starting to happen for me as well.... No first page listings yet (haven't actually checked for any), but Google is finally starting to index my site at an ever increasing exponential rate..... YEE! HAW!. Now if I go on a rampage and start creating I expect that this process will snowball into a major success

Done nothing special other than ping the XML sitemap, and the root domain. It did take a couple days for Google to find my inner pages. Google had no trouble finding and indexing my root, in fact it found the root before I even published any posts.

I don't think it will work like that. It will increase the rankings of the site where the page is hosted on but I don't think it will necessarily increase the rankings of the facebook url itself but it wouldn't hurt to test it.

No you didn't do anything wrong. As soon as you save the draft, you've already added a local page so that's why it changes to edit local page. Just hit publish pages/posts and you're good to go.

Just an update for 1 of my sites. I had not seen indexing for 4-5 days and was becoming concerned...today BAM!

Out of 346 posts 84 are on page 1 and 8 are in the #1 spot.

All of these cities have a population greater than 1000 people.

Some of this is trial and error as to the steps. Here's what I did
for this site. I'm sure others have a better system but direction
like this would have been helpful to me when starting out...so
here ya go

1. Set homepage to show 1 post
2. WP-CMS Post Control (disable autosave)
3. Yet Another Related Posts Plugin (default)
4. All in one SEO (basic)
5. Google XML Sitemaps (default)
6. Create all standard pages (contact/privacy/disclaimer) +AIOSEO title/desc for each
7. install Local Pages Ninja
8. create shortcode - add local page -Write post - save draft - create posts
9. ping sitemap at pingsitemap dot com
10. ping main url to pingfarm dot com

Say I have 600 cities. How do I go about doing 100 at a time? New post for earch and put 100 cities in each shortcode? Then {city1} for the first 100 and then {city2} etc for next 200 or?

I time out at 70 (ouch) but my country dosent have alot of cities

I read that ppl pause after a batch of 100 or so? How do they do that?

Short code question. How do I input short codes for two named states? I have {state} for Wa, {state Long} for Washington. What do I use for Washington State? {Long State} Or {state Long Long} <<that right there cracked me up.

Maybe you could code it for example, so that {Abbrev State} = Wa, {State} = Washington, {State Long} = Washington State.

I'm just building my first site and ran into this. There are 10 two named States by the way.

You can name the shortcodes anything you want, it's entirely up to you.

You could name your {WA} shortcode 'Smurfs' & your {Washington} shortcode 'Care Bears' if you wanted. The only thing you would need to do is in your content, the article, to show the name Washington, you would have to use the shortcode {Care Bears} (curly bracketed of course) in the copy.

What I did for my long and short states, I simply used {or} for OR, and {or long} for Oregon. When I start on Washington tonight I'll use {wa} for WA and {wa long} for Washington. The 'shortcode' names are or, or long, wa, wa long respectively (no curly brackets for the shortcode names proper).

What I am having trouble getting any answer on is this:

Where do we spin content? Is this an outside function using Best Spinner (( I bought it) .. this seems very cumbersome as we would have to spin them 1 at a time and add new posts..

or Can we spin the post/article using the plugin.. will it spin content?

Help please - I have been having problems ever since I have started using the updated version. I am getting this message after I try to Build Pages:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function set_post_format() in /home/erinbro/public_html/hairnewyork.net/wp-content/plugins/local-pages/local-pages-core.php on line 402

If anyone has had this problem also and has a solution could you please pm me. I would be very grateful for any help.

I will also send in a ticket but would really like to get this fixed asap.

Okay.... Google just answered one of my previously unanswered questions by actually indexing my posts (not pages). It took a bit longer than expected... almost 3 days... which, all things considered (especially my impatience), that's not too bad.

So, here are the questions that are left unanswered:

1. This question has been posed by at least a couple of us here... regarding pagination. As mentioned, I published posts and not pages. Yet, what is being indexed is several pages and they're being called .com/page/7/ whereas I set my permalinks to /%postname%/ . Again, all things considered, they're being indexed and a few ranked pretty well. So, if this portion goes unanswered, I guess I can live with it.

However, this leads me to remaining unanswered question:

2. The pages that are being created are only showing the first three lines of the post and then a button to "Continue Reading" I'd like to know how I can set that to display the entire article instead of just the three lines

There's nothing to be fixed, LPN is doing exactly what it is supposed to.

Only if you want the posts/pages to read differently.

Manually spinning is perfectly OK. LPN is coded to do the spinning as long as you 'Tokenized' {great|best|most awesome|etcetera, etcetera} the article.

You can also use Spinning Software, as long as you paste/import it into the HTML text field (where you write your article in WP). I believe that LPN can only use it's 'Spin Engine' in HTML mode. Warriors, please correct me if I'm wrong on this.

4. I add 2-3 banners to the right of the post on my blog. Is this OK or not? Please explain why if it is not OK.

Perfectly fine. You can monetize your site any way you want. Right side, left side, top, bottom, inbetween, before, after, 2 banners, 16 banners, 4 right 3 left, 1 banner at the beginning, AdSense, CPA, etc., etc., etc. Or nothing at all, you get to make all the decisions.

You are not the only one getting the same error. I'm also getting the 402 error. I have host Gator and tried using less cities to see if that would eliminate the problem without success. I started out with about 220 cities, no states......but I was spinning my content. I'm going to try no spinning to see if that solves the problem.

This plugin has allowed me to rank on page 1 for many keywords in 3 different niches. Follow up to my review of "1 of best 2 WSO's ever"!

I need to find out the answer to this LPNers. I made a mistake when I first started and put a short code in my categories. blue widgets in {city} Well, that's what they look like on my site. If I fix those, will I lose all of those ranked pages?? Will they show up as 404 when someone clicks them?

Or maybe there is a plugin that hides the categoy but still allows all the pages to work?

I'll add my two cents, since I've seen you ask this question a couple of times. In simple terms, if you set your permalinks to just show the postname in the url ( /%postname%/ ), then you should not lose rankings.

Ex. You'll lose your rankings if the url of the ranked pages look like this:

www.yourdomain.com/category/postname

It shouldn't affect the ranked pages if urls look like this:

www.yourdomain.com/postname

Check the ranked pages urls and see how they look. If it's just the postname in the url, you should be ok to change your category name.

If it really concerns you, run an article through LPN strictly as a test in a test category. Get it ranked for something easy and obscure, then change the category and see what happens.

No, the plugin doesn't do the spinning for you so you would need to use something like The Best Spinner.

Hi Eddie,

If the site you're talking about is the one in the PM you sent me, you're fine with changing the category.

I just checked it and the way your permalinks are setup, it doesn't include the category in the url so by changing the category, you won't be disturbing the url that's ranking.

One thing I found out when I was getting the 402 error was the theme I was using. I was playing around with a theme that was not compatible with this plugin. So I switched to another WP Theme I have and it worked without the 402 error.

Now my challenge is to not have all the posts name appear on the first page. I have the first page set as a static page but I still get all the post names on the first page.

I think the solution to all the posts on first page is set number of posts that appear to 1.

Hi guys,

I just did my first test of this last Friday and got all my post indexed as of today (some 1200 odd posts). I haven't added any analytics support for the site yet. Normally I would use Google analytics, however in this case, I don't know if its a good idea to make it easier for Google to figure out everything about the site. So, any suggestions on alternate/independent analytics solutions (that's free)?

Well, I have gone through with my promise (threat?) to start seriously implementing LPN this week. Unfortunately, I've run into a problem on the second site I wanted to use LPN on.

I should stipulate up front that it has a non-standard WP theme. In fact, it was bought from a well-known offliner on this forum for a specific purpose. I suspect that's where my problem is coming in.

Here's what's happening...

When I do a post using LPN, the created Posts DO NOT show up in the Posts section as they should, nor do they post to the blog. Instead, the Posts all stay within the Local Pages section! In other words, the finished Posts are showing right alongside the LPN Draft Post.

I've tried a lot of different things to see if I can figure out/fix what is going on here. I'm approaching wits end on this. Not being a WP code monkey means I can't really go under the hood here.

Does anybody have any thoughts or ideas on what I can do to fix this? I'm loathe to have to scrap this theme and reboot the site, not least of which because I've spent a lot of time tweaking it. But I really want to use LPN here, too, so...

Any help or insights would be appreciated!

One nice thing is that it reports recent (up to 30) 404 or 301's and shows where it sent them to. Another nice feature is that it shows what IP was hitting the bad link. I could see my own IP, and I also noticed the Googlebot IP was hitting my site, and I could see it was being fed the new links.

So then I installed Plugin #2: Redirection
With this plugin you can take your old broken link and tell it to auto redirect to the new link (I search my posts for the city name for the new version of the content). Unfortunately, I have to do these one at a time. Note that you must post the broken link that the Google search results are linking to, not the search results link in GOogle itself.

I won't have to do all 450 posts, because Permalink-finder does correctly locate some of the new posts. I wish there was a super version of Permalink-Finder.

Anyway, that's my 2cents. If anyone has a better suggestion, I'M ALL EARS!

You could jump through all those hoops, but you should have your permalink settings consistently set up the same for all your posts or pages. If you delete all your posts or pages on your site besides the about me and contact post or page or whatever, well you can easily get back your lost links as long as you keep the title the same, and thus the url will be the same as long as you use the title option for your url, which you should, because it is SEO friendly.

Now if you switch up the title, then things get complicated, depending on your permalink settings, but you can easily resubmit your sitemap (once your site is set up properly) and let google know everything got switched around. They will update it much faster than it took to originally get indexed. Either way, Goodluck!

Last week I did a test post on one of my sites, just to see how LPN would work. I haven't (as of this point) done anything special to promote the pages—just letting WP run and the spiders find the pages as they will. The site in question was wet-behind-the-ears brand-spanking-new and bought specifically for a project that, as it turned out, dovetailed very nicely with my discovery of LPN. So, the site has no traffic and may not have even been indexed before I used LPN (not sure). It does have my main two word keywords in the URL I used the Easy WP SEO plugin to generate a good score for my base article (83/100). I did not spin the article for this test. The keyword phrases consisted of my main two word keyword + major city. Out of 68 pages generated by LPN thusfar, only 20 have been indexed to this point. But here's the thing, out of the 20... 8 are on Page 1! 7 are on Page 2! Now I know, I know... that's not jump up and down, scream-at-the-top-of-your-lungs kind of results. But think about this. These pages have MILLIONS of results. I've got a #5 position on a page with over 4 million results and #6 position on a page with 9.5 million! These are not even "local" results. These are "big city" results in major markets. Still... HOLY COW! This is POWERFUL STUFF folks!!! Considering the site had little content and no traffic—and I'm getting these results with no special effort beyond what is necessary to make LPN work—I'd say this bodes very well for the future. In fact, I'd say the results are pretty darn amazing. Chalk it up to good on page SEO combined with LPN. Upshot? I'm getting really serious this coming week... NOTE ON RANK TRACKING: I'm using the SEO Book tool, which runs through Firefox, to get the status of my keywords and posts re: Google. I think it's pretty cool, particularly given that it's free! I thank Jody_W for reminding me that this tool existed. The Rank Tracker Plugin I mentioned before has some dope features but it has (I think) one major flaw. Until you're getting traffic, it doesn't know where your pages rank. In that regard, it's passive. In other words, I don't think it goes out and gets data for you. If it does, I'm not seeing it yet. As for the other WP plugin (Website Rank Tracker), it's free... but holdon! What I didn't know before is that it's only free for 5 keywords. Beyond that, it's $14.95/mo. for unlimited keywords (which is what is needed with LPN). It may well be a great tool, though. I dunno. I'm going to install it soon just to see what it does.

Now l have combined the two plugins together l can see that within a few months my dream car will be parked on the drive, l not sure that you realise what you created with these two plugins, each on their own are moneyspinners, when put together especially with cpa offers they are not just plugins but an entire business with some many applications, whatever do please don't get the software writer to combine the two as l would at least like to stay ahead of the game for a while. I have a reseller acct with Surpasshosting and have no trouble with 346 (the most I have tried at one time) posts. Have not tried pages to see if it makes any difference. BTW, I am NOT spinning. I have heard from multiple SEO's that I trust and they do NOT recommend spinning anymore. G can detect spinning, so I don't do it. ...besides it seems that many people are getting great results with LPN without spinning. My 2 cents

Today I am trying to post the same article but with states replacing the cities. I added all 50 states under shortcodes and the list imported correctly. Now I create a new post under the create new local posts section. When I have it all filled out I click SAVE DRAFT and then it takes me to a page that has the same article with the same keywords and categories, but the page is NOT the add local page any more, it's EDIT LOCAL PAGE, which is obviously not right. I would deeply appreciate help as to why this is not working as it should, yet 2 days ago it worked perfectly my first time using it and I am using it EXACTLY as I did 2 days ago. THANKS FOR HELPING

No first page listings yet (haven't actually checked for any), but Google is finally starting to index my site at an ever increasing exponential rate..... YEE! HAW!. Now if I go on a rampage and start creating I expect that this process will snowball into a major success Done nothing special other than ping the XML sitemap, and the root domain. It did take a couple days for Google to find my inner pages. Google had no trouble finding and indexing my root, in fact it found the root before I even published any posts. I am getting this message after I try to Build Pages: Fatal error: Call to undefined function set_post_format() in /home/erinbro/public_html/hairnewyork.net/wp-content/plugins/local-pages/local-pages-core.php on line 402 If anyone has had this problem also and has a solution could you please pm me. Google just answered one of my previously unanswered questions by actually indexing my posts (not pages). It took a bit longer than expected... almost 3 days... which, all things considered (especially my impatience), that's not too bad. So, here are the questions that are left unanswered: 1. This question has been posed by at least a couple of us here... regarding pagination. As mentioned, I published posts and not pages. Yet, what is being indexed is several pages and they're being called .com/page/7/ whereas I set my permalinks to /%postname%/ . Again, all things considered, they're being indexed and a few ranked pretty well. So, if this portion goes unanswered, I guess I can live with it. However, this leads me to remaining unanswered question: 2. The pages that are being created are only showing the first three lines of the post and then a button to "Continue Reading" I'd like to know how I can set that to display the entire article instead of just the three lines

Are we getting an updated version of LPN today? 2. When I create a post it works perfectly, yet when I go to my website I get 10 duplicate copies of the post, but with different states. I.E. 1 post is dog training alaska, next post is dog training alabama, etc. Why and how do I fix? 3. I write my own, unique article, so is there any reason for spinning it? If I need to spin, do I have to buy best spinner, or can I spin it with {word\|another word} within the post? 4. I add 2-3 banners to the right of the post on my blog. Is this OK or not? I'm also getting the 402 error. I have host Gator and tried using less cities to see if that would eliminate the problem without success. I started out with about 220 cities, no states......but I was spinning my content. I'm going to try no spinning to see if that solves the problem. Carlos

I haven't added any analytics support for the site yet. Normally I would use Google analytics, however in this case, I don't know if its a good idea to make it easier for Google to figure out everything about the site. Unfortunately, I've run into a problem on the second site I wanted to use LPN on. I should stipulate up front that it has a non-standard WP theme. In fact, it was bought from a well-known offliner on this forum for a specific purpose. I suspect that's where my problem is coming in. Here's what's happening... When I do a post using LPN, the created Posts DO NOT show up in the Posts section as they should, nor do they post to the blog. Instead, the Posts all stay within the Local Pages section! In other words, the finished Posts are showing right alongside the LPN Draft Post. I've tried a lot of different things to see if I can figure out/fix what is going on here. I'm approaching wits end on this. Not being a WP code monkey means I can't really go under the hood here. Does anybody have any thoughts or ideas on what I can do to fix this? I'm loathe to have to scrap this theme and reboot the site, not least of which because I've spent a lot of time tweaking it. But I really want to use LPN here, too, so... Any help or insights would be appreciated!
