And you rank based on keywords not the article as a whole, if you get what I mean. So since each post/page is targeting different keywords (ie the different cities), Google sees each post as RELEVANT for the topic at hand, even if what is being said is technically duplicated with the city varying.

Also there isn't a real "penalty" for duplicate content - they just filter the same stuff out so people are not confronted with page after page of search results that all have the same exact content.

But in this case since someone is going to search with a city modifier your content will show up, not being filtered, due to the city modifier. Because it is RELEVANT per city.

Also as Jeremy has said quite a few times, look at directory sites and similiar sites - they say the same thing over and over again (ie duplicate content) but they rank because they have the city modifier. In other words, to google and searchers, Plumber New York is different from Plumber San Diego and thus even if the text of your article is the same by having the variation of New York and San Diego makes it different to the eyes of Google and searchers.

So, if you were to take the same exact content and post it 4 times - even with the city modifiers - yes, Google would probably filter your results so that only ONE instance of that article would show per city.

The upshot - all this duplicate content stuff doesn't matter since in these instances people will search by city and thus you have all those different pages dedicated per city.

For further proof to dispel the duplicate content is an issue myth - I have built subdomains on my twelve city sites. I clone each domain. The content I have for each niche is content I get from Ezinearticles. I copy and paste it exactly (leaving in the original author's bio to keep it "legal"). So that is TOTAL "duplicate" content. Then like said I clone per niche on each site. Let's say I was targeting the niche limo service - I have the articles from ezinearticles appear on all twelve sites (one per city). I don't even change them to reflect the city. It's generic for the niche. And you know what? My sites rank! The main page ranks AND the pages with the articles.

So NOPE Google doesn't really give a rat's ass about duplicate content. Not on the local level like with what LPN helps with.

I haven't run LPN on the site yet because I am still building it...(it's been sitting on a back burner, partially built for months. We do a lot of sites....)

Just accidentally created the shortcodes using "{}" and built the pages.
I went back to remove the "{}" in the shortcodes and the cities still don't show up in my pages. In the links there are "numbers".
Anyone know how to fix it so the cities show up again?

Usually customers have to click on something on my site and then gets redirected to the site that actually makes the sale and I get paid by commission junction. So with LPN and CC, I use the keywords in local cities and get paid for just directing customers looking to purchase that keyword once they do purchase from the site I am directing them to.

So, I am already an affiliate and already sending traffic but only through clicking....
Will LPN and CC allow this to happen without the clicking part and do you think the tracking script that I load on my post will show to the sales site that it came from my post?

2] I could not find any explanation what the "Publish" section of LNP is for [the button "Publish" and then "Update"]. I don't remember them being mentioned in neither videos no pdf. Could someone please cast some light on this, will really appreciate that. This most likely has been touched already in the prev posts, I just could not find any answers yet [50 pages - that's a lot of info to cover].

3] If I use "Build pages" - what is suppose to happened with the index page? Do you guys put some text on it separately?

Ah, one more question [forgot to put it before]
4] I want to put 600 cities in my shortcode. I've got VPS but still think I'll be pushing my luck, so I read the best practice is to do it in 3 goes [in this example] - 200 in each. What is the best way to do that? Put the first 200 in the shortcode, "build pages" and then replace it them in the shortcode with the next 200, sav e the shortcode and build again [and so on]? In that scenario - how to I move from "Delete pages/posts" to "Build pages/posts" when I need to do the next 200? Can I somehow in "Number of Posts" specify a range? Say to have all 600 but go by the range? Thanks in advance.

Good idea to go work on building roads through the forest instead of getting lost looking at the weeds that grow up around you as you stop. In other words, don't worry about your day to day (if not obsessively hourly) rankings - if you are only checking every other day (at a minimum - try for more) you also won't have as many Google block issues. Focus on building something solid and Google will eventually reward your efforts - however, as an experienced Google dancer will tell you put some focus on to building lists from these sites or getting clients.

Relying on Google for all your traffic and/or income will lead to some serious brain splattering - trust me.....

Oh, the stories I could tell you about one of my main sites that ranks #3-5 for 60 days against some heavy weights, and consistently on the 27th of the month it will drop 5-500 places for 5-30 days before coming back - sometimes stronger than before.

There are so many factors at play here, not sure where to even start. However, for these LPN articles, especially if a new site, Google likes "newness" for articles because, well, they are in the business of trying to present the newest, most relevant, most authoritative search page to a Google browser user.

So it is very likely your brand new, hot off the press, LPN page will rank really high at first, couple hours, days... Than all the other normal factors (backlinks, domain age, etc) will come into play while Google tries to figure out it's head from a hole in the ground and figure out where it might like to rank your page on double blue moon equinox.

My advice - patience.

"Google time" as I like to call is pretty slow - we all want to make a change on our website and see instant results, and most of the time, Google just doesn't react that fast.

This is not a sprint my friend, think ultra-ultra-marathon, unless you want the results of a sprint in your bank account - nice quick flash, but no follow-up until the next race. You want to develop an endless spring, not a sip from the tin cups some of these guys are throwing around
