If just one of your sites is earning only a few dollars a day, and you are running it on Wordpress, then you should know:


It's much worse if your sites are making more. The more they make, the more this will potentially hurt you.

There are people working around the clock to try and crack into your site and steal your commissions, rankings or worse ... sometimes BOTH!

If they find a pattern and they crack one site, they can go after many of them. (and if you used any scripts like Fantastico to install it, then there IS a pattern).

In fact as recently as early August 2011 a report posted by Russian security researcher Denis Sinegubko identified 4,358 WordPress blogs with infected images.

In another piece of news a commonly used and very popular plugin (still listed in the plugin directory) left a backdoor completely open to anyone who has even an elementary knowledge of databases.

Blindly installing plugins (even popular ones) can be a bad idea.

Even the very company that is responsible for creation of the wordpress code base was compromised in April 2011.

Matt Mullenweg, the founding developer on wordpress recommended wordpress users change their passwords frequently and keep unique passwords for their website.


My name is Sanjay and after 15 years in Business Intelligence (that would be analytics for IMers), I discovered marketing skills and helped a friend of mine sell thousands of dollars of a book as well as a contract for $30K and another contract for over $20K as side effects of my marketing.

But then, a very embarrassing thing happened. My friend’s website was compromised and it just so happened - It was on wordpress.

We identified the issue and resolved it, but it was a MONEY SITE and had been consistently making a few thousand bucks a month (and a nice passive royalty for me).

Personally, I’ve worked in very secure environments, even as an administrator (such as for banks) and my friend has actually designed solutions where the server is in a cage (Yes, those do exist) and yes, if you can probably guess with 99% accuracy who it is for ... but it’s not important.

Nowadays you have redundant servers, replication in the cloud, mirrored transactions etc.

In the “old school way” we had to restore the entire system and network within 24 hours in another town using only backup tapes as a mandatory test from the government

It’s called “Business Continuity Planning”. You may have even heard the term “Disaster Recovery Testing”. Been there. Done That!

I was quite surprised at my friend’s lack of knowledge of wordpress security. His site was so open, when I saw it, I was surprised someone hadn’t already messed with it.

After all this guy knows about PGP, double encryptions, database security, biometrics, cryptography and a lot more (and he’s good at it) ... but his income earning wordpress site had some big holes in it.

What Usage Rights Do I Have?

Rights - Personal use rights only. You may not share the videos with anyone except with 1 outsourcer (although I do not recommend entrusting security to a 3rd party). You are not allowed to share it with more than 1 person in your employ (permanent or outsource).

Can I use the information on my clients websites

Absolutely and you can charge them a pretty penny for it. 99% of folks don’t know how to do this and it’s an easy to add distinguishing factor in your offline consulting model. Very few are offering this service and many sites are getting defaced.

Can this potentially break my website

YES! Some of the steps CAN BREAK YOUR WEBSITE. DO NOT perform them if you are not comfortable restoring your wordpress site from a backup (There is one video in the course that walks you through a backup and the last section in the guide walks you through a restore).

If it’s so important, why don’t you share it for free.

In my opinion, it’s not in your best interests for me to give it to you free or else I would have. I’ll probably make a few bucks on a small WSO, but nothing to write home about. Can I not find all this information by browsing online?
Yes! you surely can. Most of it is available online, but nobody (I repeat nobody) will ever take you behind the scenes with look over my shoulder videos on one of their websites. It’s way too much work and it opens up holes in your security.

It's not often I comment on WSO's, as most of the ones I purchase aren't good at all.

There are some additions I'd add to your course (such as the inclusion of a robots.txt file, talk about the benefits of admin must approve the comments etc) but overall it's a very wholesome course and is FAR BETTER than most WSO's on Wordpress I've seen.

It's probably the best step by step Wordpress security course I've seen on the Warrior Forum.

You have gone into such detail(more important - ALL on video), it doesn't get easier.

This is a topic which is highly neglected and the dangers are in 99%, totally underestimated. Most people believe "oohhh...that only happens to others" HOW WRONG THEY ARE!!!!

To describe the "how To's" on paper is a hard task but your vids have made this a walk...truly GREAT STUFF!

You offered a supplimental guide regarding the Database Name...I would be more than interrested in seeing that on video...please do that

Hi Don,
I haven't tested it with Thesis, so I don't know. Just based on what I know about thesis (which is not much), I think it will do fine.

It's just one step that breaks optimizepress and you can disable (or not do that part). Unfortunately leaving that setting IS a security risk however going through all the other steps adds many layers for you.

I personally really like certain themes enough that I am willing to make some compromises.

Sorry to hear about your server break-in. Yes, the info in this wso will ensure that a wp site is as secure as possible, but there are certain elements you cannot control (such as your host getting compromised). I hope you do have backups of everything.

I just want to say thank you so very much for this security course. I'm a techno-idiot so I know I could not have done this without the step-by-step instruction. What I especially appreciated was the fact that you didn't just tell us what to do, but you explained why we should do it. Knowing the why is very helpful in further understanding what, to me, is a bunch of gobblygook to begin with.

Between the videos and the pdf, I don't know how anyone could fail to implement these security precautions. Yeah, it was scary at times, but I gathered my courage and kept going because I knew I had the backups, just as you insisted.

Sorry I didn't come post this sooner, but I have over 100 blogs I have to update for security reasons and after reading your guide, I am making HUGE changes to the way I set up my blogs in the first place.

The plugins that you recommend are great, they really did make it step by step easy to follow along with what they have you do to make your blog secure. And the guide shows you exactly what to do, so if you are new to securing your blog or working with Wordpress, Sanjay is there to show you how to do it the right way.

You just do a couple of the items on the list and you will gain confidence at how easy it really is to make your blog bulletproof.

My sentiments, exactly, but I'd like to add a few comments.

For years I avoided using the WordPress platform for any of my sites because of the number of posts I saw, here and elsewhere, about WP sites being targeted by hackers and people's hard work being lost because of hijackers and hackers.

Even as recently as last week, I tried to overcome my paranoia (because of one or more trusted experts urging their members to use WP and I'd purchased a WP review theme which looked promising). But I gave up and deleted the whole shebang once I came across the need for changing permissions to wp-config.php file before running the script which I was reluctant to do (prompt from WP Security Scan). Rather than risk giving access to my server to a third party, I decided that I had better things to do with my time than mess around WP and its security issues. At least, without adequate knowledge and video instructions.

Although your course, Sanjay, has come a week too late for me for that site (I've since started a major project which needs my almost undivided attention), after watching every video demo, I'm delighted to say that all the mystery and fear have evaporated.

Your instructions are clear and easy to understand, even by a total techno-phobe.

Brilliant course, excellent value, worth many, many times the price. So glad I purchased. I can't thank you enough. You have given me more than practical help and information on this very important subject. WP sites, here I come with my new-found confidence! I'll be looking out for more of your WSOs. Just one thing is missing from the course which, I hope, you will add to the members' area.

The Robots Meta Tag Config Page in WP.

I'd like to know what all the options mean and do and which box to check or leave unchecked and as importantly, why.

I think it's in the All-in-One SEO plugin. As I don't have a WP site, I can't check to see exactly which. And the same topic would be great if addressed if Yoast is used, instead.

As an extra or bonus, I'd also like to see you also show us how to edit a theme (free: flexibility, or a premium theme like Thesis) without compromising security whilst doing so - example changing permissions whilst editing, etc.

I'd be happy to pay extra for the "bonus" (suggested above) if it appeared as a WSO.

I can't recommend this course more strongly. Warriors, grab it while you can. I'm heading off to WSO Plus to sign up as an affiliate. The first WSO that has impressed me enough to do so.

There are so many themes (even premium ones) that it would be difficult to show this. If you follow the steps in this course, you will know when a theme breaks and can reverse that particular step and move on to the next one.

Thanks. Will look forward to that. .htaccess is of real interest, particularly if you are able to produce one where exclusions (of certain IP addresses) and other instructions are coded correctly for those of us who haven't a clue.

Flexibility is a popular theme so even if you don't use a premium theme to demo, showing how to change a header and footer on Flexibility and looking for codes that should not be there would be a good example to have which may then be used for editing other themes, free or premium.

Trial and error is okay, but I'm all for doing things the right way, first time, backed up by info from someone experienced.

I'm giving you ideas for your next WSO!!!
