  1. Ability to have the navigation menus appear on all pages, not just the homepage.
  2. Ability to change the navigation menu colour of the button at the moment it is clicked on. Currently it is blue only and not changeable.
  3. Permalink structure that removes ezmb so that you can have m.mysite.com/contact as an example. (I believe this is coming)
  4. Footer section- ability to edit colour and add text and links AND to add the redirect to main site
  5. Accordion menus- click on the menu item i.e. about us and instead of going to another page it opens up the information directly below like an accordian (this is coming)
  6. Accordion for information within a page i.e. visit Our Services « FRA Consulting Ltd. and click on more details- great space saver!
  7. Speed increase- sites that I have built are kind of slow and I am not using intensive graphics. Any suggestions or is there a way to code it to be faster- I know that WP is slower than HTML but would like to see this be faster as mobile users are impatient.
  8. The ability to go to pages of a site you are working on more easily, perhaps from within each page. Now you have to select sites--> click to view pages and then you get there. Would be great if there was a faster one click solution AND the ability to drag and drop pages in order of how you would like them to appear in the navigation menu- similar to Wordpress's menu creator.

Hi Karl OptimizePress is still WordPress no matter what, just make sure your redirect url is pointing to your mobile site this should solve your problem.

Irene and gang,

I have one feature request. I would like to make the header image be a clickable link back to the main page of the mobile site. That way I wouldn't need the whole navigation menu to show up on all pages. I can just add a little "home" icon to the header image so that users know they can click on it to go back to the main navigation page of the site.

Thank you for this great plugin, Irene. I'm really looking forward to a New Year and selling a lot of mobile-optimized websites!

Header is a clickable link to your main page or you can add right button to top bar !

I've read thru Irene's description of the new update a few times, and watched the video a couple of times. But I don't get it. (Maybe to much Christmas treats or something.)

How does putting a redirect feature on the mobile site redirect a visitor from the standard site to the mobile site? Wouldn't a regular WP redirect plugin or JS redirect do that from the standard site?

A bit dazed and confused,

Loren
Hi Loren,

The Bonus Redirection scripts that I issued are for redirecting ONLY mobile users from your main sites to the mobile version of your sites.

The "Homepage redirect" was added to deal with the request from some users that they could have a .mobi domain or a subdomain like m.domain.com and when they installed Wordpress on those and had only a single mobile site in the EzMobileSiteGenerator plugin, they wanted anyone landing on that domain or sub-domain to go to the mobile pages.

Hope that makes things a bit clearer.

It's a complicated area - especially if you have been reading this thread, because there's been lots of users on this thread how want to work in various different ways.

There ARE several different ways to organize your main sites and you mobile sites, and depending on how you want to structure your setup, you will need to use different techniques.

I'm going to set up some additional demo sites and do some more videos about redirection next week.

I'll purchase a .mobi domain and a demo domain, and also set up a "m." sub-domain, and try and explain each of the varying scenarios and how best to organize them.

However, Irene has also shown that she's added an EzMSG default so that anyone coming to the home page of the mobile blog site may be redirected to one of the EzMSG sites created on that WP installation. As you know, you are able to define multiple mobile sites on the same WP installation. This redirection default (as shown in her video) allows you to select one of the sites as the default, assuming the user comes directly to the home page of the mobile WP installation.

Recall that each separate mobile site is also accessible by a permalink (something like http://blahblahblog.com/ezmb/*EzMobileSiteName*). With this new default, you may choose which EzMobileSite becomes the default on the entire mobile WP website.

What good is that? It has nothing to do with redirecting the client's main site to the new mobile site. Consider this, however. Suppose you have ten businesses in a particular community as mobile clients of yours. It seems to me you could create a mobile directory site (another EzMobileSite on that same WP installation), and link to those 10 business mobile sites without having to visit their main sites at all. Anyone visiting blahblahblog.com would see a helpful directory of your clients.

Of course, you could also link to other mobile sites from your directory site as well, even if you don' t host them. It's your choice.

Or, you could sell several mobile sites to a company with several subsidiaries, keeping the identities of the subsidiary companies separate, but joining them under one corporate umbrella.

Subtle, but useful, if I understand the intent.

--George

Hi George,

The "Homepage redirect" was added in response to user requests that anyone landing on a blog with EzMobileSiteGenerator installed would automatically get redirected to the mobile site defined with EzMobileSiteGenerator.

IF the Wordpress feature on the Settings, Reading page could have handled custom post types, I would not even have needed to add this, as all it does is change the homepage display - Wordpress standard does this but only to normal pages, not to custom post types.

So for instance, I could set a page called "Visit Full Site" and that would show up in the navigation. Then when clicked it would redirect to my full site. I would prefer and I am sure there are many others to be able to add this script to the footer instead or in both places if I choose. Will we be able to do so? Thanks Irene!
If you watch the video about this that was mentioned in the email that I sent out, you would see that I added some extra features to the "Redirection URL' that is available on every page.

This allows you to send users back to the main site with the redirect override added.

I added this into the "Redirection URL" setting so that it can become part of the MENUs and that way users get something big enough for them to see.

Many mobile sites that try and put this in the footer have it in tiny text that can't been seen and is difficult to click on a mobile device.

If you disagree with how I implemented this, and still would like something in a footer, please feel free to comment and make a suggestion of what you would prefer. I will listen to your suggestions and consider them for inclusion.

Some of these are already planned.

Number 9 has been in since launch.

I won't be online much for the next 2 days over the New Year period, and, when I do return on Tuesday, I will give priority to Helpdesk messages, so anyone requesting assistance over the New Year period would be better served by using the Helpdesk. (actually that applies all the time.)

So ...

HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone

Enjoy yourselves and don't drink TOO much.

See you all NEXT YEAR.

Irene,

It was a while before I purchased your product, then when I did, I was so busy with other things I didn't have a chance to look it over. I got a few hours today to do so, and I've got to say I am truly floored by the value that you've given.

I don't have the time to write an extensive review at this point, but let me just say that anything you could ever want from a product of this price is here probably 10 times over.

I had a few problems getting started, and I had to hold myself back from logging a ticket (since I can see how inundated you are), but having read the first 12 pages of this WSO thread a week or two ago, everything eventually came together once I reasoned it out.

I'm also truly grateful for the vast amount of video help on YouTube for the product. After sitting here for only one evening, I feel I can create sites that rank right up there in looks and functionality with site-building services that charge $100/month or more and require that they do the hosting.

Also, you've put adjustable controls and settings on just about everything I could want.

One last thing - I'd bought one product of yours previously, and for the price, I really couldn't expect much technical advice, but when I had questions, you were there in a more than reasonable period of time. From my experience, your integrity is unquestionable.

Thanks for a great product. I wish you a prosperous, healthy (I hope your fingers are feeling better), and happy new year.

Sunnygal ...

Your pushbutton website is down. I'm placing this message in here in hopes you'll see it. I actually purchased another one of your products this evening (ezmapgenerator) but the download link failed since it's based on your pushbutton url. Please pm or email me as soon as your resolve your down website. Thanks and Happy New Year!

Thanks so much and Happy New Year.

Irene, any chance of getting transparent icon images for the menu buttons?

I want to do have menu background colors like dark brown, pearl, etc. and being forced to choose out of the 5 available colors makes the icons look pretty tacky.

It'd be nice to just have a the menu button with an associated icon, but without having to have a solid color associated with it...does that make sense?

Tyra pushbuttoncomputing.com is only seen on the simulator it won,t be visible on any sites that you make and are downloaded to a smartphone if you want to remove it for another reason then I don,t think you can Its just part of the simulator hope that clears things up.

Just a quick note

Seems our server was down for a few hours yesterday due to a problem at our hosting company.

I got back online today to a stack of helpdesk messages about it.

I'll be dealing with those as fast as possible, then I'll come back online here to answer any questions in this thread.

Happy New Year, everyone.

Hi Tyra,

I think I might have answered a Helpdesk ticket for you about this earlier today.

As Martin pointed out, this is just a background image to help you visualize the look of your site on a mobile phone.

When I created the background image for the simulator, I could have left those areas blank, but I used them to do a little bit of subliminal advertising for EzMobileSiteGenerator and PushButtonComputing.

Rest assured, your sites will not have EzMobileSiteGenerator or PushButtonComputing showing on them.

Here's a copy of the background image that I use for the previewer.

Hope that helps put your mind at rest.

Hi Giggle,

Seems there was something wrong after our server crash yesterday. I contacted our hosting company and they have reset a configuration setting, and the demo sites should be showing correctly now.

Have a great day,

I've spent $X on Mobile stuff but with Irene it's the real deal. The help desk (Irene) service is superb and after having been ripped off by people who are many, many times better at marketing than what they sell, I'm now delighted to find someone who knows her stuff and is honest too. Stop blushing Irene, it's all true.

Happy New Year Irene!

I hope the New Year will be good to you.

As you plan for future updates of EZMSG please keep in mind the previous feature requests of the early adopters. I noticed a recent list of requests being maintained by a user (some of which are already in EZMSG) but the list omitted many of the earlier requests in this thread.

As you release each update I anxiously look to see if any of the earlier requests have been included. I'm not sure if you are maintaining a list but if you are please consider these two items for inclusion again:

1. I personally hope you will include the ability for us to add background images to individual pages and templates of the repeat and no repeat variety so we can add a picture or pattern to our sites.

2. I'm also looking for the addition of transparency adjustments to the menus (via a CSS call) so that the background could be partially viewed.

Thanks

Irene,
I have a question regarding the license. If I put my website for sale on my mailing list or on my personal website, do I need to upgrade to a Flippa license?
Is there a problem if I sell my non-mobile website and then propose to the buyer (not with an upsell) to add the mobile version of it?

hi Irene,
I see that you can built a custom contact form, but is it also possible to have have a searchable menu which can sort inventory by price, make, etc?

If you'd like to see an example of what I mean, check out Buckeye Marine - Regal, Chaparral, MasterCraft, PrinceCraft, Starcraft dealer in Bobcaygeon, Kawartha Lakes which redirects to
Home

This has been requested by a potential client and I need to know if it can be done with your plugin.

I'm thinking that I may just be able to do this using another custom WP plugin?
Thanks

1. Already on my list
2. I think I can add that. It makes sense if you have a background image.

I was planning to have an update this week that would include the permalink feature as I now have that working on one of my test installations, but I've decided that I need to do some additional tests on that because of a few helpdesk tickets that I recieved - users were using EzMobileSiteGenerator in a slightly different way to what I expected, and I want to be CERTAIN that the new permalink feature would not have a side-effect on the way they are working.

Because of that, it would be tomorrow at the earliest before I released the update, so I'm going to delay it until Monday, and that means I can try and get a few of the other feature requests included by Monday.

I think that would be better for me and for users than having one release now and then another early next week.

There is already a search function built-in, but it's free format search.

It's on the list of demo sites on the main salespage post of the WSO. Look at the Search Portal example.

Here's a direct link to that demo site
http://bit.ly/trxjiM

One thing I did on one site I designed was make the right-hand button on the top-bar into a search button that linked to the Search Page, and that meant that search was constantly available everywhere on the mobile site.

Thanks Irene..That search function is cool but doesn't allow me to do exactly what I need.I spoke with one of my web guys last night and he suggested a plugin called WP Smart Sort which I think will do the trick. Others may find this useful as well.

I agree that is the best way to handle the new feature additions. I am one who loves seeing new updates to software because it's like opening a Christmas Gift but I don't want to do to update everyday. Periodic updates are the way to go! I'll be patient yet hopeful...

Thanks for posting this NatGreen. I'm looking for a similar solution so that I can provide a simple online mobile ordering system for restaurants where the user would maybe drill down a list to their menu items and add it to a cart and maybe add notes to the order. The cart would then send the order to the restaurant maybe via email to prepare the order. Accepting payment in the cart would be great but not necessary since they could pay at the time of order pickup.

If you find anything along these lines let us know or at least keep us informed as the progress of your proposed site because their might be some correlation.

Hi all:

Just a few quick questions... The mobi site that gets created... Is it a standalone site that can be zipped up and ported to any client's domain/subdomain or does the site require a wordpress install in order to function?

Also has the /ezmb issue been resolved?

Thanks,

Jim

Jim,

The mobile version can NOT be zipped up as a separate install. If you were to place the mobile site onto your client's server you would have to install Wordpress AND the plugin on their server. This plugin was originally intended to be hosted by YOU the developer on YOUR server. The plugin allows you to create SEVERAL mobile websites off of ONE wordpress install. After builidng your site, you would simply need to link back to your site from your client's site using a redirection URL such as m.clientsite.com, clientsitemobile.com, or clientsite.mobi.

From an economic standpoint, the best practice would be for you to host your client's mobile site or a network of mobile sites on your server (that you own or rent) so that you could charge clients a monthly hosting/maintenance fee, maintain a relationship, and upsell similar products or services. This plugin is more geared to that model rather than allowing your client to self-host.

Regarding the /ezmb link structure issue, I believe that is currently being resolved and will be in the next update due next week as Irene pointed out in the post number #892 (above).

Bought this and it's great. You don't know who I am as I'm new to the forum. Not new to IM and site creation. I started selling on BBS's if anyone remembers those. So I have this great tool that I'm not using for mobile sites after trying other products and bad themes. This is a must have if your creating any mobile campaigns local or otherwise.

Looks really good on an Android. How did you get it to load so fast? Are you saying you built this with ezms without using WordPress and if so how? Do tell...

Hi Jim,

It requires a Wordpress site to function because it is a Wordpress Plugin that generates the sites.

The /ezmb will always be there - it's not an issue - it comes down to different users preferences. The update that will be released on Monday has an "option" to not have the standard permalinks and to exclude the ezmb from the url structure.

I've got a few questions.

1. Sunnygal, how do I get on the mailing list for all these updates to the plugin? You say one is coming out on Monday, but I'm not getting any updates other than scrolling through here reading.

2. Let's say hypothetically that I'm building a mobile site for Enrico's Pizza, and they already have a desktop site. I buy a .mobi domain, and install Wordpress on the main domain, say it's enricospizza.mobi

So, I build out the site, and finish the site and publish it. I can do the redirect from Enrico's main site, that's no problem, but, using this new version, what will the new url look like? Will it just be www.enricospizza.mobi or will there be other stuff there?

I'm starting to think that the actual URL isn't too critical, though.

3. The mobile validator seems to give fairly low scores for sites built with this plugin, but they look fantastic, they load relatively quickly, and they are easy to make. For people other than us who are more knowledgeable about these things, is the validator score really that important?

I think that somebody a while back said that is another mobile designer comes in and tries to sell a business owner a new site for one you've built, and builds his case on your mobile version has a low validator score, why should the business owner really care? If it's loading fast, looking good, and has the flexibility and ease of use that the business owner's customers like, what's the problem?

4. Finally, with all the functionality of this plugin, wouldn't a really good business model be to build the site for the business on a .mobi site that you maintain in your own hosting, and just use the redirect script from the main desktop site, then have the ability to do new things, like create coupons or offers that will really help the business owner?
