Irene has a consulting business to run, and--as I'm sure you are aware--in those circumstances, your time is sometimes not your own. She has overdelivered to us many times over with EzMSG, however, as I think others here will attest.

Sometimes, when I find myself in over my head on some task, I get a little testy. Perhaps that's normal; I don't know.

With regard to redirection, I can only answer generally, since you weren't specific enough in your statement.

If you have an existing site that's built using WordPress, you can install EzMSG as a plugin in that site AND install the redirection plugin in that site. Configure it to send mobile traffic to the Permalink URL of your mobile site. No additional WP installation is needed.

If your existing site is not a WP site, you'll need to use the Javascript redirection module and, of course, install WP for using EzMSG, probably in a separate folder on the site. Once again, you would redirect mobile traffic to the Permalink URL of your main page in your mobile site. (It's listed at the top and bottom of the EzMSG page configuration screen, by the way.)

If you want to have several mobile sites on one WP installation, those sites will exist on a common domain, say for this discussion, it's called <myMobileSites>.com. Each client's mobile site would be a different EzMobileSite on the same WP installation, but they all would share the common main domain (<myMobileSite>.com in this example). You would use the Permalink URL to select the proper destination for redirecting each client's mobile traffic.

I think this is the scenario you've suggested in your post. You'll want mobile redirection code in each main site, configured to send mobile traffic to the proper Permalink URL for the mobile site you've created for that client. Those several mobile sites CAN be on just one domain, but note that you'll be redirecting traffic from one domain to another.

If you choose to use .mobi or m.<somedomain> style mobile sites, you will almost certainly have different WP installations for each of these sites, which is fine, but more difficult to administer. It's a valid approach that some prefer, however. It all depends on the expectations of your clients.

Irene has also put redirection directly into the EzMobileSite defaults, so you can have ALL traffic to a particular address redirected to a specific EzMobileSite installed on that domain. In this way, if you have several domains on the site, you can select the default domain from that list. In any event, you would also use that redirection for your m. or .mobi sites (if you take that route).

Finally, recall that you can also do redirection (but not mobile recognition) at the DNS or Web server levels. In this way, a client could have a .mobi or m.<something> address that resolves to your WP installation with multiple EzMSG sites on it. You'd need to set up the redirection on your registrar's nameserver or your Webhost's cPanel, or its equivalent. Again, these redirects would point to the Permalink URL of the appropriate EzMSG site on your server.

I certainly can't say anything about the new HTML conversion feature, since I haven't seen or heard any more than you have.

Perhaps the problem is too many choices rather than Irene forcing everyone to do things the same way. I hope the above helps clarify things for you. Perhaps someone else here can fill in the spaces I've almost certainly left open.

I'm sure Irene will get back to you as soon as she can. I think it's prudent to add a few days to Irene's estimates given her many responsibilities. In the meantime, have another look at her training videos about using these redirection features. As I recall, she has 2 or 3 of them posted currently.

This is where it goes astray for me...I redirect using the redirect plugin taking mysite.com to mysite.com/mobile page but when I test on my phone it will not navigate to other mobile pages such as mysite.com/mobile page/contact us, it takes everything to mysite.com/mobile page.

I realize that most people have more than one thing going on in their life but you should only make promises such as "Watch out for an email from me in the next 24 hours or so, informing you that the new version is in the Members area." when you know that you can deliver on your promises.

I do think ezmobilesitegenerator is a super product but the support system is not. It is well worth the money and probably even more since it has the potential to make the user some significant income.

It's been my experience that no matter Irene's ability to accurately project when she'll have an update ready, the update is always well worth the wait. Be patient. I think you'll be glad you did. You've already admitted that the product is well worth the price paid. I think it's worth multiples of its current price.

Ah! So your problem isn't with the redirection scheme, but with your permalinks!

If you look a few messages ago, Jenny ("msdobe") had a similar issue. I recommended setting the permalinks to the default, which was my understanding, but that may have changed. Legacy3 insisted that the structure should be /%postname% and that seemed to work for Jenny.

Also, it was suggested that just re-saving the permalinks selection as it is currently specified refreshes things. Give that a try.

EzMSG is ultimately a somewhat modest software offering--it's not Excel, for example. Irene's business is a small family company, so your best support option is here, rather than the "support desk," which is ultimately just another e-mail address for Irene. EzMSG has some enthusiastic fans who are eager to help.

This thread is rather long and unstructured, however. EzMSG, as well as Irene's other products, deserves a message board of its own where questions such as yours could be asked and answered and others could benefit from your experience. Usually, the answers are available.

Thanks George,

I had tried the /%postname% and the resaving and I did not get the same results as Jenny. But changing back to default and setting up the redirect seemed to work.

I agree with using this forum for answers as opposed to helpdesk or maybe try both.

Hi everyone,
It's me again with another problem. I was putting the tutorial on a blank site because it was loading so slowly on my other site (just wanted to test it). Just finished the first page and it looks ok on the computer, but when I look at it on my cell phone I get the WP admin login page. I've done it 3 times and still come up with the same problem.

Has this ever happened with anyone?

Thanks!
Jenny

I found out it's redirecting and this is the URL

digitalles.com/wp-login.php redirect_to=3Dhttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.digitalles.com%2F%3 Fpbcezmobsite%3Denricoopeninghours&reauth=3D1

I just found out it was the theme I was using. It's working fine now, but still incredibly slow. Anyone have any ideas for speeding it up?? I'm just using the ten-eleven theme.

OK, I have a question for all you EzMobileSiteGenerator experts out there. I mentioned it briefly in a post above but want to make it an only question in a post. My sites are loading extremely slow. I'm at a loss as what to do. I've deactivated and deleted any unnecessary plugins.

I've tried on 3 different sites and they all take about 8-10 seconds to load... way too slow. I want to start selling these but can't until I get this resolved.

Any ideas????

Thanks!

Well it was noted earler that your ezmg sites were loading slow even over a desktop connection. So the question is how fast are 'any' of your other sites loading.

Because the most obvious initial place to look is your hosting. Is your server running slow?

Try loading cnn.com and see what your results are? Mine are close to this load time on my htc phone...I do not find the load time an issue

Pete, I hate to say this, but how can I tell if the server is slow? I use hostmonster.

Morgy1, I loaded CNN and it was pretty fast, about 4 seconds.

Also, I just checked some of my other mobile sites that I had made without the plugin and they loaded fast.

I tried a test on my sites at WebPagetest - Mobile Test and got 4.3 seconds so if you are getting double there I would aim at your server. Another thought is graphics I have very few graphics on my sites...could this be an issue?

Hi Jenny,

The simple way to check your server status if you are using cpanel hosting is

Log in to your cpanel and in the Stats menu column, right at the bottom you should see Service Status and a Click to View link.

Open the link and you will see 3 columns. If the icons on the right are all green things are ok at the mo'.

The main one to look at is server load, green is good, yellow is ok (ish) and red is 'oh sod it'.

It also depends on how many cpu's the server has. So if you have 2 cpu's a load value of 2 or under (middle column) is good.

That is rather general though as it can run higher for periods without problems and also depends on server configuration etc which I don't have a clue about.

If your on shared hosting, how many domains are hosted by that server and what sort of scripts they are running all comes in to play.

The server load can change from minute to minute so you would need to monitor it for a while and if it is consistently in the red. get in touch with your hosting provider.

Whew!

Thanks dublindawn. So your model is $199-$349 upfront then $10/month? Is that correct. I just moved one of my domains to hostgator. How has their service been for you?

So for the client do you just do a redirect from their main site to the mobile site running at hostgator?

Thanks for the info. I am just getting started and this is very exciting.

I started marketing on the 17th January with some sample mobile sites and offering to do a sample site for the particular business I was prospecting.

From that I got an order ratio of 3 for every 5.

One of the many things I like about EZMobile is that it is a realistic product that can start making you a good income in a very short time.

So Irene thank you for all your help at the start and the great product.

The upgrade have been great, if I had a wish list there are 2 upgrades I would like.

And

In one of your recent products (EzMapGenerator WSO) I bought some time back, the Google map for WP, where you could also add the street view of the business below the map.

dublindawn,
You're doing absolutely fantastic - way to go!

I have a question about the way you use Hostgators reseller program. Curious as to what domains you're using for your clients. You apparently are getting a separate domain for each of your clients for the reseller program, is that right?

So then you don't have multiple sites under 1 domain?

Why is this important?

As long as the site delivers on all mobile phones and it ranks in search engines (even "mobile" - but that is all hype)

What does it matter, really?

I only get a separate domain if the customer request it and pays for it.

What I have is one URL to suit the mobile market.

I then make a sub domain for each client.

Because at the end of the day the client wants to redirect it to his original domain name.

Example: clients original site, say it called http://www.clientsitefred com

The redirection method I use knows if the surfer is coming from a mobile and will serve the mobile version to that mobile phone user, if the surfer comes from a desktop, laptop etc it will serve the original website.

Advantage is that the client does not have to market a second domain name for their mobile. So the client has one domain name for both which is their original domain name which is probably branded in their business cards, stationary, ads, search engine etc.

So in a nutshell I type in http://www.clientsitefred com from my desptop/laptop I get the original site, you type http://www.clientsitefred com into your mobile, you get the mobile version.

This is also a big selling point, as it means the client does not have to brand another URL. (charge $30 for this service, or throw it in free if it means a deal on the spot)
You have cleared up alot for me...thanks

But it begs for one more question (one I have been trying to grasp) is what are you using to redirect from clientsitefred to fred.yourmobiledomain com?

Hi Jenny.

Thank You

(charge $30 for this service, or throw it in free if it means a deal on the spot)
dublindawn,
Thanks for your quick reply. I'm just wondering then about the reseller program.

Can't you do the same thing with a regular hostgator account and it would be cheaper? Just use a domain and put your clients domain as a subdomain under it?

So they go for the 30 upfront a year, which suits me.

Let us assume I keep growing my clients at 30 a month, after a year I would have 360.
Now try to imagine that every month I need to chase 360 clients for $10 and keep an eye on who pays or not.

I would prefer 30 at the start and I am still making money on hosting with little hassle.

Yearly hosting at $25 per month = $300

Collect $30 a year from 360 clients = $10,800

So minus the $300 you pay for hosting you have netted $10,500

(With 360 clients you may have to upgrade with hostgator, but only a small fraction of what you net in the year)

Hosting fees are just a spinoff of your core business, which is creating mobile sites (so I advise the yearly plan so as to stay focused on the main part of your business)

I find Hostgator okay to work with, I found their customer service 100%)

And you are right to be excited, because this is a proper business service that is concrete and not the usual 6 figure BS.

Best of luck to you in this new venture.
Really Sweeeet dublindawn... Refreshing to hear some positive results..

Quick questions though - With the Hgator rellers plan do give customers access to 'their' cpanel and couldn't your reseller account be setup to auto bill customers.

Have you encounterd any customer who want to purchase the mobile site because they want to host it on their existing domain? - (Cause they're already paying for hosting) If you have, how do you deliver site to customer after you have created it? (the rellers account only allow 30 site tranfers)

Keep it up...

The business plan is about $15, I reckon about 20gig of diskspace

Reseller starts at about $25 with 50gig and can be upgraded as needed, right up to 200gig

Two Reasons I went for Reseller

One: As my clients grow I want enough resources to keep them served.

Two: I have a load of affiliate product sites and a dozen classified sites on it.

The $10 dollars a month is little when you can get a couple of mobile clients each month, after all they are paying for it

OK, I understand now. I was wanting to try hostgator to see if my loading time is faster than with hostmonster, so I'll get the reseller plan.

And thanks for all your help with this... Much appreciated!

And keep up the great work. You're doing fantastic!

Cheers,
Jenny

In the very first video (title : "EzMobileSiteGenerator - Create Mobile Websites Quickly & Easily") there's a sample of a mobile site which has a layout shows a set of bridal pictures/photographs/images in a 2 rows by 3 columns format.

(The video is on page one of this thread, as you can see it's on the 3rd iPhone)

Can Irene or anyone here enlighten me how to achieve that layout ?

Thanks in advance.

Irene

I've got issues displaying some pages. When I view my website on my mobile it won't open the pages I have in my menu. It just refreshes.

Why is this happening?

Carl

Just had a look, and I would say it looks like a menu screen using icons as opposed to the vertical layout has been used.
The photos will have been uploaded to the custom thumbnail image boxes.

So if I am right, all you have to do is add 6 pages with the front page being the parent. That would give you that effect.

Hope that helps.

You can do this by using tables. Irene shows how to set up tables in one of her videos.

Carl, the same thing was happening to me. Once I changed the permalinks to default (instead of %postname%), the problem was resolved.

Licensing questions.
Share on:
fb share twitter share gplus share more share

Curious. If I create a mobile site that I do not host and the company is sold along with the mobile site then they cannot convey the mobile site unless I create it with the Flippa license? Not clear on how this works. Also if I sell my business which will include all my sites then I would need the flippa license to include the design on these mobile sites? Or would a developer license suffice?

New version problem...any ideas?

When uploading the new update I followed these procedures:

Deactivated and deleted old version
Uploaded new version
Went to activate and got this error

Fatal error: Class 'ZipArchive' not found in /home/........../wp-content/plugins/EzMobileSiteGenerator/pbc-wpmsg-zip.php(1) : eval()'d code(1) : eval()'d code on line 2

I deactivated all my other plugins (did not want to delete them if possible) and tried again.
Also tried installing through cpanel and no luck either.

I sent a tkt to the helpdesk too.

Thanks

I was away all day and came home to find that version 3.00.01 is now available. I haven't had a chance yet to download it and try it, and I won't for a few days, but looking over the new features, all I can say is - incredible.

This was a major bargain before, but with the added features, I can't even think of an adequate superlative to tack on here. For those of you who wanted it before but were on the fence, get it now before you can't.

Irene - I know many have said this already, but this is a really great product.

morgy1:

The new plugin version installs fine here. I've set it up on several accounts.

According to this link:
php - Fatal error: Class 'ZipArchive' not found in - Stack Overflow
the trouble seems to be an incomplete PHP installation. The file is fairly big, so it may be timing out on the upload. Be sure you don't get impatient and interrupt the transfer or you'll get garbage.

In this case, however, it appears you don't have the Zip extension installed for PHP on your Web server. (That would be odd, since as I understand it, no plugins would install as uploads.) Hmmm...

I recommend that you unzip the plugin locally (on your desktop, for example) and then FTP the folder manually to your WordPress server (in wp-content/plugins).

Let us know!

Jodik:

You'll need to wait until Irene has a chance to respond definitively, but she has discussed a similar case in the past.

My understanding is that the intent of the developer's license is to provide you with the capability of setting up and managing sites as a developer. If the intent is to set up a site for sale and to convey the rights to EzMSG to a third party, then you'll need the so-called "FLIPPA" license.

If you sell your business, then you pass the EzMSG license to your buyer under the same T&C (terms and conditions), but you lose any further rights to the use of the plugin for yourself.

Irene has suggested that she will establish an upgrade path for license levels, so I'd recommend that you purchase a developer's license for now (unless you know for certain that you'll be selling off some sites immediately) and plan to upgrade if necessary. The worst case is that you'd need to purchase an additional license for a sold website, or purchase a FLIPPA upgrade.

Of course, these thoughts are just my best guess. Irene has the last word, but I think you'll find her reasonable and more than fair. As you seemed impatient for a response, I'm offering you the best information I have available.

Since Irene has just issued a new version of EzMSG earlier today, I'm sure you'll understand that she's had a busy day.

NOTICED A PROBLEM WITH HTML:

So the export works great and it is very fast BUT there is one problem and I have tested this extensively to narrow the problem down:

IF you use the Wordpress custom menu option AND you export the site to HTML, the custom menu links link back to the original installation domain instead of the html domain.

For example:

You build the site in Wordpress at www.worpressversion.com and use custom menus on all pages. So now you can have the navigation menu appear on all pages that you want them to which is awesome BUT when you click on a navigation item after exporting the html version to www.htmlversionofmysite.com, instead of the link going to i.e.www.htmlversionofmysite.com/about it goes to www.wordpressversion.com/about, meaning it goes to the Wordpress url from where it was built.

IF you do not use the Wordpress Custom Menu, there is no such issue, BUT being able to have navigation menus on all pages is a wicked option so it would be great if those links would go to the HTML site and not the Wordpress one.
Hopefully this makes sense. Thanks!

For now I found a workaround which is to do the export and then correct the links in an html editor. Notepad++ is good enough. Works now!

Sorry, I haven't taken time yet to confirm your issue, but a quick thought, nonetheless.

As I recall from the video, Irene mentions entering a base URL for the exported site on the main site page before running the Export. Perhaps that step is needed. Have you tried adjusting that entry?

I'm wondering if anyone has figured out how we will change the coupon dates if we supply our clients with an HTML version of the site. I all so run a local directory site with several businesses on the same site, will changing the coupon dates be a big issue using the HTML export?

ALL changes to the HTML sites will require you to re-export the code from the WP plugin unless you dig into the HTML code and change the specific areas.
