Version 4.00.01 is out!

This release is a major release containing several new features.
Here's a quick outline of what is included in this release

New Features

* Image Galleries
* Embedded Video and YouTube Integration
* Custom Form creation and Data Capture
* Template import and export
* Transparent menus
* Extended Social Widget
* Facebook Like buttons
* Drag-and-drop page re-ordering
* CSS Optimization for smaller file sizes and faster loading

Hey dublindawn, since I don't know much about this, is the script you're talking about the redirection script Irene provides us with the EzMobileSiteGenerator download?

For those who are interested, here's an example of what I was referring to for providing an option for mobile users to view a full site without being redirected to the mobile version as soon as they hit the index page.

Here's a restaurant I ate at recently (I am not affiliated with them, nor have I done any work for them). Their mobile version is at:
San Diego Brewing Co.

If you hover over their "desktop" link at the bottom of the page, you'll see that it shows "...ing.com/#r=off" at the end of the linked URL. It appears that this link is telling the "redirect" script to be turned "off" upon arrival. THIS is the desired effect that I'm looking for.

This allows a mobile visitor to be redirected to the mobile version upon initial arrival, but given an option to view the "full site" without being redirected back to the mobile site if they want to view the full site on their mobile device.

If you don't mind, could somebody explain what difference this scoring makes? It would seem to me that anybody who ordered a mobile site would have no idea what that means either, but would be happy just getting a mobile site.

Hi All,

Any ideas how to upgrade to V3 without wiping out all the work done in V3?

Thanks,

Ed

To me, it means that this is an ideal to aim for eg. a 100% rating which in theory would mean the site would render correctly across the board.

Ideally I would be very clever but my rating struggles to reach 21.6%. But hey, I'm functional. Ideals are great, but...

Honestly, the only concern to me and to most business owners is that it works regardless of the score/rating. Plus like you say most would be unaware of what the validation is anyways.

And if EZ Mobile sites didn't work this thread would be full of complaints, yet there are but a few regarding not displaying properly in various devices. Which when you consider the amount of devices out there well...

Deactivate the plugin and then delete it. Upload new plugin version and activate.

All your data is stored in the database so shouldn't be affected. To be safe you can do a backup of your DB so you can restore it if anything goes wrong.

Ed, just deactivate your old EZMobile plugin, FTP into your wordpress site, go to the content folder/then the Plug-Ins folder, and rename your old EZMobileSiteGenerator plug-in folder to "old-EZ..." and then install and activate the new one using the standard Wordpress installer.

You'll see all of your current sites, accordions, themes, are there. As long as your don't do anything that deletes the MySQL database, you'll be fine.

Pete's method is easier. I'm always FTPing into my site, so that's why I provided an FTP method. I wasn't sure if deleting the plug-in would delete the data tables. It seems like it should, but I'm glad it doesn't.

@dublindawn @Webcowboy...
It appears that Irene answered this question in her other (version 4) thread. She mentions...

"I really just ignore that because it only validates to CSS2 and smartphones use CSS3. I guess ignore is the wrong word - I don't ignore it, but it's not the most important issue for a mobile site.

I could make it validate exactly, but we'd lose a lot of features that are webkit specific and webkit is the browser that all phones use - well, the vast majority."

I'm wondering if 'since' ezMSG now has '2' threads, might we move our conversations to Irene's latest thread reference such, so that we prevent repetitive questions on the same (essentially) product?

http://www.warriorforum.com/warrior-...s-minutes.html

Thoughts?

Irene, your opinion?

best always,
m.

I am having a problem, tried to contact support 72 hours ago no response? Is there a problem with helpdesk support?

The problem I have is that I create the sites, export the html and upload it to m.domain dot .com I add the jscript to each html page with redirect script but the site is as before I made the new mobile site?

Hey Dexter, hop over to the newest thread, as it relates to ezMSG updated versions at this WSO location and I'm sure you'll discover some support for your question.

Does the new version still cause SERIOUS issues with page speed? The script we've used causes speed issues with the main site so bad that we've had to host the mobile sites ourselves instead of on our client servers.

(Speaking only for myself as a very satisfied customer) I certainly believe that EzMSG will do wonderful multilanguage mobile sites. You have control of the prompts on a page-by-page basis, so (for example) if you wanted a page in Spanish and an identical page in English, you'd simply set up two separate mobile pages with the same functionality.

Since the prompts are global to the application--with the ability to override the global settings on each page--it's easy to do. Plus, you could either do some coded User Agent checking on the home page to find out the visitor's preferred language, or just have a menu button to move to the second language home page from the first, presenting the Main Menu in the user's preferred language.

The only issue that comes to me is that the header image is automatically linked to the primary home page, but I'm sure that's "fixable," especially if you use the new Export feature to create a non-WordPress version of your site.

Does that take care of your question?

--George
I am using the latest version of EZMSG. How exactly do you activate the multi-language feature? I don't even see an option for it anywhere. Thanks for any help you can offer.

You might want to check Irene's previous WSO's, especially the last posts. She has a history of releasing products and then disappearing.

I figured out a work-around to the accordion menu bug that bothered me the most. When you click on an accordion menu item for the first time, it becomes unresponsive and will not close. Here is the fix, it only works for exported HTML sites.

on the exported html file with your accordion menu, do a search for the following:

var prevTab = 0;

and change it to

var prevTab = 100;

This assumes you will have fewer than 100 tabs. :-) That's all there is to it!!!

For me, this was the only "show stopper" bug that I came across. Everything else I can work around, or sell around. It's really a great piece of software, well worth the price and then some. Create some really great-looking themes, and you'll be in business.
That is incorrect and does not work

Try this

OLD SCRIPT:
<script type="text/javascript">jQuery("#accordion").tabs("#accordion div.pane", {tabs: "div.acchead", effect: "slide", initialIndex: null});var prevTab = 0;jQuery("#accordion").delegate(".current", "click", function() { var tabs = jQuery("#accordion").data("tabs"); if (prevTab == tabs.getIndex()) { tabs.getCurrentPane().hide(); tabs.getCurrentTab().removeClass("current") } prevTab = tabs.getIndex(); });</script>

UPDATED SCRIPT:
<script type="text/javascript">$(document).ready(function() {
$('#accordion .acchead').click(function() {
if($(this).next().hasClass('current')) $(this).next().slideUp().removeClass('current');
else {
$('#accordion .pane').removeClass('current').slideUp();
$(this).next().addClass('current').slideToggle();
}
});
});
</script>

You will find AFTER you exported in HTML near the bottom

It's too bad she did not sell the product to someone else or at least let them take it over. She must have had a developer do it all. This is a shame it was a really good product.
