Great looking system Josh.

Tested on my mobile and noticed that the theme was not mobile ready (or did not appear so on my atrix 2 android). Do you have any plans to make this work with android, iphone, etc?

Thanks for your purchase!

Training videos for this theme are not mentioned in the sales material as they aren't ready yet and didn't want to set expectations of them being there.

I hope to have the initial set finished by the weekend.

I pull data for the bulk upload files from various yellow pages sites.

Re: Make SIX FIGURES From One WordPress Theme?

I've been shopping around for a theme like this for about a month. Not a whole lot to choose from...yours looks promising. Since you don't have a video walk-through on this one, I have some comments and questions.

There's obviously a lot of "air" in the top of the page design that pushes content further down the page than I'd like. Also having people have to scroll down after they click into a category is not ideal either. The whole top menu and header could be half the depth top-to-bottom and not lose any functionality or appeal.

With that in mind, is any of that aspect of the layout easily customizable? If so, is that built into the admin area or do we need to go in and edit HTML/CSS?

Is moving the left-hand sidebar to the right side one of the 3 layouts? I assume we can change the order of the widgets and have the map appear above advertising?

Is there any kind of Site Map functionality with auto-update (as new businesses sign up) built into the theme?

Is there a way to make any links the business filling in the info uses be either follow or no-follow?

When someone fills out the Add Place form, Existing User is the only choice. How do people register? How does that work on the Add Place page?

On the Sign-in page using the Firefox browser, the Heading for the page is halfway under the top ad. And the ad isn't even centered on the page. We shouldn't have to fix things like that ourselves.

Is there a maximum number of images or videos that a business can upload/insert? Is there a way to control any of that?

Can we totally customize the Select Package offers?

How does letting the business choose where they are Featured work? Does it just throw them into the mix of those who might already be on the Home page or in a Category? Does it put them into a waiting list?

How do we manage and keep track of charging a business for a month of being featured if new businesses sign up randomly and are added automatically? Is there a way to limit the number of Featured businesses for a given time period?

Sorry for all the questions - those are just my initial observations. I'm trying to make a serous commitment to a single theme for this type of site on some current and upcoming projects.

Thanks!

Hi Josh,

Seems like a really great theme

Just wondering, How easy is it to customize the language settings?

For example, can you easily translate the menus, the search field etc. from English to another language? Are the graphics provided in layered psd-formats so that they're easy to edit and translate?

If it's relatively easy to translate everything so that you can use the theme with other languages than English, it'll really be a useful and valuable feature.

Thank you very much in advance!

Best,
Klaus

How does a business owner Claim their listing? I see a few businesses in the example site that look unclaimed, but am not seeing where/how it can be claimed.

Hey Josh,

Can you please elaborate on the "7 different payment options" point?

Is this integrated with Paypal recurring billing?

Or does this refer to 7 different price points, depending on where on the site or pages they want to have a featured listing?

Thanks for your interest and great questions!

1. The homepage slider is a widget and completely optional. I'll look into making the space in the menu/search bar area a little tighter.

Otherwise, there is the option to add your own custom CSS, so that way you don't have to worry about overwriting the themes core css files when new updates come out.

2. Yes, the sidebar can be moved to either side, and there is also a full-width option. All sidebars can be re-arranged and the only item that is static in the sidebar is the "Claim Listing" section on a listing detail page.

3. No native sitemap functionality built into the theme, the auto update functionality is not in this release, but is coming.

4. I'll add the ability to follow/nofollow the business website links

5. I forgot to allow user registration in the WordPress settings, and that's why the create new account option was not displayed.

6. I entered in the wrong ad code for that sidebar, that's why it showed up like that.

7. No maximum limit on images, or the ability to control that at the moment. One video per listing.

8. Using the front page featured widgets, you determine which categories and how many listings are shown.

On the category listing page, all featured businesses are listed at the top for that category.

9. If you use paypal, it handles the subscription billing automatically

I hope I got everything

Josh

Hi Klaus, there is a languages file in the theme, so it should be easy to convert to any other language.

I went to the demo restaurant site and enterered the search "bbq" (as well as "barbeque" and "barbecue") with zip "57702". The results didn't return any business you had in there called, especially "Flying T Chuck" (listed under the barbeque category with the zip of 57702).

Guessing it doesn't use category or anything aside from business name to match? (Just thinking if I ran this and a business paid to get listed and then didn't show up for their matching searches... they could be quite understandably disgruntled)

I love this theme concept. Where do you get the CSV file for business listings? I check out your demo site and it had a lot of content, so just wondering how much time is needed to get the job done?

I uploaded all of the listings in the demo site using the bulk upload feature, and didn't any data cleansing before doing so.

That means that all of the restaurants in the demo site may not be in the appropriate categories.

Matt, I used a program called yellabot to scrape yellow page listings. It gave me a CSV file, which I then copied into the CSV format for the theme.

Took me 5 minutes total to get 200+ listings into the site.

Infoseek - I checked out your portal. It really is awesome! It looks nice & clean - yet it has tons of data. I click away from sites that are too cluttered looking. May I ask, what theme did you use?

I know this is probably a dumb question, but if you list a business site in your directory, what's their incentive to claim their site. After all, it's already listed, so why would they pay you? Even if you got high page ranking in the SERPS, it's great for them with no money paid. I've never done a directory site, so excuse my ignorance.

so - how much is the software to scrape/create the databases? Is there any copyright issue with using their info in such a manner?

And - how long will the price be at $47?

Would like to buy but would like to get a better idea of the costs to actually create a directory first -

Thanks -

Hi Josh,

Have you had any support issues with Yellabot? Are you aware of any alternative programs to generate the needed files?

Looks like something I could really use. A am curious about license rights for selling a developed site. I would also hope the videos help a little data collection.

I hope surely plan on trying this.
Thank you.

To be honest, I haven't have the chance to test it on a WPMU setup yet, so the short answer is, I don't know...yet

You don't have to display website, phone info, any pictures, videos, etc. unless they claim the site. Much like Google Places, Yelp, etc. They give basic information on businesses, but in order to get the full benefits of the listing it would need to be claimed.

I bought the software I use to scrape the listings so long ago that I don't even remember what it cost.

The only thing that the scraper I use gathers is business name, address, phone, and category information which is not copyrightable material.

The price will only be at $47 until 5:00pm EST on Sat. the 28th at which point it will be increased and be sold as a dimesale.

The theme does have a sample csv file included that shows you what fields are required, the rest of the fields are optional.

If you have any questions on how to set up the file, contact me through the membership site and I'll get you squared away.

Hi Ron,

I haven't had any issues using that software, so I can't really comment on support issues.

I've been using it for so long, and it's worked well for me, so I haven't had the need to look for a different yellow pages scraper and can't offer any recommendations at this point on alternatives.

You have the right to use this on any site you own, any sites that use for clients, and you have the right to sell developed sites using the theme.

What you can't do is resell it or give it away as a stand alone theme.

Thanks Josh - and security wise has the theme been "locked down" ie plugins or widgets encorporated are they safe to go or need the standard WP security measures added/

Should be back up now.

I've purchased the theme and I am quite excited -- I can see an endless uses for this theme concept.

Josh, I assume almost any scraper will do... (yellabot doesn't handle my country at least with a cursory look at the webpage info) As long as you can export to a spreadsheet that will create CSV. From then hen it's simply a matter of massaging the values in a spreadsheet to get them in the right order before upload.

Would I be right in thinking that ?

I have purchased the RS Testimonial plugin. Can it be combined somehow with this theme to scrape the Google Places reviews for each business individually?

Is it possible to scrape data from Google Places instead of Yellow Pages?

You would be correct.

Just to make it clear, there is no scraper that comes with the theme, and not one being offered as a OTO.

The RS Testimonials plugin doesn't have the functionality to export Google Places reviews to a CSV and I don't have any plans to add such functionality to it.

I'm not aware of any Google Places scrapers, but I'm sure there out there.
