We write unbiased articles that honestly reflect the Amazon product’s customer feedback instead of overhyping the product. By a ‘balanced’ article we mean that we spend equal time discussing both the negative and positive reviews that the product has received. Here is the (rough) outline that we use for a 750-Word Article (word count is approximate):

• Intro (150 words)
• Features and Specs (50 words)
• Negative Feedback (200 words)
• Positive Feedback (200 words)
• Honest Conclusion (150 words)

And for a 1000-word article we have two options (and an infinite more as we accommodate according to customer requirements):

(OPTION 1) In this format the Features of the Product are explained nicely in brief (word count is approximate):
• Intro (150 words)
• Features and Specs (225 words)
• Negative Feedback (225 words)
• Positive Feedback (250 words)
• Honest Conclusion (150 words)

(OPTION 2) And in the other format, we write more words in Negative and Positive Feedback Sections based on Amazon.com Customer Reviews and just list the features and specs without explaining like the 750-word format (word count is approximate):
• Intro (175 words)
• Features and Specs (50 words)
• Negative Feedback (250 words)
• Positive Feedback (350 words)
• Honest Conclusion (175 words)


Here are our thoughts on why we write review articles this way (mostly based on common sense):


1. Building trust with the reader. After the introductory section our articles always then include a paragraph summarizing the negative reviews that have been given for the product. Straight away we want the reader to know that they are getting an unbiased perspective of the product. This is, after all, what they are looking for…information to help them make an informed buying decision. Once they realize you are helping them to weigh up the ‘pros and cons’ of the product they will want to keep reading and may wish to return to your site. We want to give the reader what they are looking for.


2. Make your authority site more valuable. In line with point one above, if a reader stumbles upon your site that reviews lots of similar products, they want to know one thing only:


Which product will provide them with the most value for their money?


The reader doesn’t want to have to read through 10 different articles that all overhype the product and don’t mention any criticisms that each product has faced. Use unbiased review articles for each product and/or let the reader know which of the products your website ‘recommends’ as the best of the bunch based on your research. Make the decision for the reader easy, this is what they want, and then direct them to Amazon.


3. The reader isn’t stupid. No matter what you say in your article, after the reader clicks through they will realize the truth. Straight away they will see the review rating of the product and some of the customer reviews. There is little gained by overhyping the product in your review article.


4. You can still get clicks/sales by talking about the negative aspects of the product. After discussing the negative feedback of a product we routinely encourage the reader to ‘click through to read some more criticisms…’ It’s important to get the reader onto the site through your affiliate link. They might not buy the product in question but you still get paid if they choose a different one.


5. It's possible to recommend a different product in the article. If we think the product is poor then we always recommend another similar product instead, which we are confident in recommending. After all, a more valuable product should convert better than one that has received a lot of complaints.


6. Not everyone will be able to use the product. If after analyzing the customer reviews we find that not all people will be able to use the product then we'll state that in the article. (e.g. a roof rack that doesn’t fit certain cars, a breast pump for certain body sizes etc.) We'd mention this problem and then instruct the reader to consider whether this limitation applies to them. We can then direct them to alternative products (through an affiliate link to a search page at Amazon.com) where they can then choose which they like and you still make a commission.

Please Note: When using the 750-word format, we feel that the readers will click on the call-to-action and read about the explanation of features on Amazon.com, most of the words are about the negative and positive feedback and our honest conclusion and these three sections are completely unique, and what makes our reviews stand out from the crowd.
But if you want the explanation of the features of the product, we will need to add 150 to 250 words in the 'Features and Specs' section and we will either have to reduce words from other sections or we will have to make the order of 1,000 words. Please consider this while choosing between 750 words and 1000 words.
