Help on page loading time. Tell me how fast my page is loading for you.

Hi warriors,

Need your help.
Have been trying to solve this for 1 week now.

My page loading time is somehow slow.
But when I ask different people to test, I get different results.

Page loading time is affecting my campaign results.
High bounce rates because of this.

Since im running some ads on google, I had their help too.
Googles adwords team said my site loads slow, that is why the conversion results are bad.
People don't have the patience most of the time, when your page don't load within 3 seconds, ppl will go for the X at the top right corner.

This is my page. LP Financial Markets EduFinancial Markets Edu

Click on it, and just tell me how long does the page take to load.
You don't have to listen to the video if you don't want.
This is not a promotion tactic.
I really am trying to solve a problem.

Tell me which browser you are using and the time it takes to load for you.

Google's team is saying it takes about 26seconds initially.
After my programmer stopped some inactive plugins and updated the theme, it dropped to 15 secs, but its still too long.
Now my programmer says it takes about 4 secs for his browser to load.
When I tried the 1st time after he fixed it, it was still at 10secs for me.
THen when I tried the 2nd time after clearing cache and cookies and history, it took 5 secs.
I waited awhile I tried again later and it took 10 seconds again.

So I really don't know what the factors are to a faster page loading time.

My programmer keep saying your video is the one that lags.
My video is only 8 mins long.
I showed him another page that had a video that was 30-40mins long and it loaded 3 seconds for me.

So it cannot be just the video.

Any help is definitely appreciated.

Thanks in advance guys.

Just clicked your link using Firefox (from the UK) and the page took about 10-12 seconds to load. However, when I paused the video, the screen froze.

Have you tried it without the autoplay option?

Yes, it's very noticeably slow-loading for me: about 9-10 seconds. (I'm using Firefox 32.0.3, but I'm on WiFi and although the connection's meant to be 150Mb/s, the WiFi isn't always perfect).

Please excuse my also commenting that I think auoplay video is very inadvisable and will cost you a lot of traffic, that you're asking for far too much information on the "register" form, and that white lettering on a black background really is something of a "design disaster" which will also lose a lot of visitors very quickly. Apologies for sounding so critical, but I really think it's not at all a good page for the purpose for which it's intended.

You could ask for "quick appraisals" of it, in the Copywriting Forum, but you'll need to be really thick-skinned about the replies, which are going to be more outspoken than my comments here.

      Hey thanks for helping.
      Wow the whole thing froze?
      Damn.

      Hey Alexa

thanks for helping out as well.

I got it done by outsourcing it.

But I am open to opinions, don't worry.

Regarding the autoplay that both of you have mentioned, isn't all the other landing pages using auto play?

I come to think that its normal.
Every landing page I land on, the video starts playing.
I personally don't consider it a pain, unless its a home page and the video is a small one at the side and the audio starts playing, and im like "where the heck is the sound coming from?" haha

What are your views regarding autoplay? Like why is it bad?

As for page loading, any advice ?

my programmer is good, but not exactly "all knowing".
He has been trying to fix it but was able to bring it down from 26 secs to 10 secs.
Seems to be stuck at this number.

        Yes. I think it's a plugin issue.

What are your views regarding autoplay? Like why is it bad?
I've never liked autoplay. I'll always either pause the video (or audio) or immediately click away. When I arrive at a site, I like to navigate at my own pace and be in control of what I see and hear. For that reason I find autoplay presumptuous, and I don't believe I'm alone in thinking this.

Don't forget, some visitors might be using the internet while at work. They won't be expecting (or welcoming) a video suddenly to be blaring out at them for all to hear when they're casually browsing.

That said, visitor reaction will depend to some extent on your traffic source. If you've "warmed up" your potential visitors, perhaps by explaining exactly what they're going to get when they land on your page, maybe you'll get away with it. But for general traffic - especially coming as a result of a Google ad - it's a bad idea, IMO.

I tried ie10, ff, and chrome.
          My page didn't freeze.

Yea, I understand what you mean.

All my paid ads have the text "watch us trading... " etc.

So if they click on it, they are expecting to see some video on trading.

But yes generally I also don't like auto play if its a normal website, but this is a landing page. I thought its common.
You see all these clickbank landing pages with just 1 video on the page.
So there is nothing much for you to browse but just watch the video.

Like what they say for a landing page, the more options your visitor have, the lower the conversion rate.
Just give them one option which is fill up the form.

Anyway, keep it coming, I appreciate the opinions.
I will definitely test all kinds of designs.

But now the issue here that is my urgent priority is the page loading time.
Its getting me impatient. Because I have to pause all ads, since I would be wasting money if im paying for traffic and before it loads, people are clicking close.

A few items 1)Unacceptable first byte time over 7 seconds - probably a bad host but try this before moving:2)experiment with some of the javascript to footer plugins. Too much of that loading early. You often have to exempt some scripts (possibly your membership plugin).3)Keep alive not set properly -if your host can't fix -major hosting companies set this correctly (even the ones people complain about) MOVE 3)a lot of separate css- Google for plugins that can minify and combine this
    4) If you haven't installed a caching plugin - do it 5)Add expiration length for all file types in .htaccess (get some one on fiverr to do it for you if you are not technically proficient- if you do it yourself back up the file first.6)If you own the video it can be re-made as a smaller file size with NO noticable quality loss.

the load time was around 10 seconds at me and it an obvious huge delay. but let me do a little test for you maybe you get better insights
hmm funny, pingdom says your website is loading in 5 seconds from NY Usa
    Website speed test

It might be something with your hosting company?! I mean, i don't know, your website look so simple that i don't even know what it takes so long to load for me. But wait
I see this is a WordPress site ( i looked on your source code if you don't mind) , try to use plugins Autoptimize + WP Super Cache and than test again on pingdom. tell me if that helped you or not to suggest other things.

    hope this helps

yea man, funny the pingdom shows different results each time I test also.

there was once it showed 3.something seconds, but it was loading for me at around 9 seconds.

I will also try your suggestions.

      thanks guy!

      Really really love you guys.

        1. With testing you need to make multiple tests and look at the average and the median
        2. You will get a more accurate picture of when viewers percieve a page as loaded by using the filmstrip view at webpagetest.org
        3. Remember to adjust the type of connection and location of the test to match your viewers

Another thing I would like to add.

I think I know the issue here.
Did a small test on my own and found out there IS a difference.

When I type "financialmarketsedu.com/lp" it had to direct to the full url, which means it had to add in "http://" and the "/" behind.
          This took up some time.

When I copied and paste the full url and cleared my cache and everything, it loaded within 3-4 seconds.

          Make sense?

Can anyone try this and tell me again?

          Appreciate it!

Oh but I just checked my op and the link was the full url.

            Hmmmm.

            Back to square 1.

1st time I loaded it, it took 12 seconds.
When I redo the whole thing by clearing cache and cookies and load it again, the 2nd and 3rd time it wook 3 secs.

            This is weird man.

How about try to switch to default theme and see how that one load (or a create a child website and set it there). If it's not the template, look intro plugins and deactivate one by one. After that it can only be the hosting provider.

Hope you find the issue, good luck !

Noticeably slower than other websites I'm currently viewing (from the UK).

When it did load though, it seemed to load the whole website in one go.

Sometimes a slow loading site is ok as long as you use things like progressive jpegs to have something displaying on the screen while it loads.

You can also move javascript to the footer of your website. That way, people won't be able to click on things until it's fully loaded, but people will be able to see the website quicker, rather than staring at a blank screen.

Also check out MaxCDN as they can speed up your website by allowing copies of your website to be stored in cities around the world. That way, someone from the UK will be sent your site from the UK. It's quicker that way, plus puts less stress on your hosting company.

Lastly, on an iPad, the website isn't displaying well. The video and testimonial in the top left are both halfway off the page and cut off. It's impossible to actually zoom out enough to see them.
