The official blogs you are referring to are all Blog posts from google's blogger. All you need for that is a gmail address. If you want something similar on another platform you will have to be more specific.

If you want to build a real business on the internet I would never recommend you to start a blog on a free blogging platform like Google Blogs, wordpress.com , blogger or other free platforms, because you don't own 100% of your content and you dn't have much control. If you want me to build you a custom blog for free, with a premium theme that I will install for you for free that will save you at least $100 and my best plugins, see the link at the bottom.

    Hope that helps,
    Vitaliy

That's not true. Users of Wordpress.com and Blogger.com own their content. And that's probably the case for most well known blogging platforms.

"At WordPress.com the content you publish belongs to you, you can export and take it anywhere, at anytime..."
      Add a Domain -- Support -- WordPress.com

"Some of our Services allow you to upload, submit, store, send or receive content. You retain ownership of any intellectual property rights that you hold in that content. In short, what belongs to you stays yours."

As far as control. There are more things a person can do with a self-hosted blog, but for a person who is not technically inclined, with that control also comes the possibility for more problems related to the technical aspects of running a self-hosted blog.

Many people don't need all of the features that a self-hosted blog may provide.

If you're talking about control over content, which often comes up in discussions of this subject, there is the issue of having a blog banned by a platform for having spammy content.

In my opinion, if a person's writing style often triggers automated SPAM detection systems, then it's likely that humans would consider their writing to be spam too.

Overall, having measures in place to prevent spam and abuse in many ways makes the platform better and promotes a better reputation of all those who use the platform. But that's just my opinion.
