I am going to start a blog to promote my facebook group of over 5k members so I can build a email list, I was wondering what the best blog template on wix.com is, considering its the easiest for me to edit etc.. The site is based on thrifting so I would need one that has good pictures and easy sign up access, what do you think about this one? Finance Blog Website Template | WIX

My two cents: You're making a mistake going with Wix... or any other similar site.

You need to get hosting, and put up your own website - one that you own and control.

The advantages of your own site are numerous, and the disadvantages of a third party controlled site such as you're suggesting has been discussed many times before.

    The cost is quite low...

This. That's not two cents...that's a $100 worth of information right there. It amazes me how cheap people are. OP you just have to get your own hosting and your own website. Don't be cheap and don't be lazy.

I understand what the others are saying, but I'm sensitive to the possibility that maybe the costs are an issue. You can always start with a free provider and get the feel for everything (a test run), and then when you're ready to roll it out to your 5000 members, then you can look for a low cost host and get a domain. Sometimes, Ebay will have someone selling a promo code for domains for 99 cents and maybe cheap hosting too.

Thanks thats what I was thinking, I already have the domain and would pay the premium wix so there is no ads and can basically edit the whole site to my own liking like I did with a previous one so in hence it would be my own site... but I get what they are saying.. yes budget right now is an issue I just do not have time to learn html and all that when with a site like wix its literally click and edit..

To be fair, Peter, many hosting companies have something like that hidden away in their Terms of Service, and there's no particular reason, here, to think that it's likely to be an issue?

I've used Wix in the past, myself, and I think they're not a bad host at all, and rather widely underrated. (It's not at all like using "Blogger", which really would be asking for trouble.)

Personally, I prefer Weebly to Wix, but I'm guessing that with Wix the "paid upgrades" are cheaper?

(One cautionary note, though: if using Wix, make sure to use one of their HTML5 sites rather than a "Flash" one, if you want the site to rank well on Google.)

Yes, you should certainly do that, if using Wix.
